Things played out precisely as Raymond had foreseen. The next day, when Starlight Group's representative, Ezekiel Takon, went to Yale's residence to discuss business, Sophia assigned John to handle the negotiations. However, Ezekiel immediately lost his temper.
Ezekiel insisted that Samuel had repeatedly emphasized that Savannah must be the person in charge of this project on the Yale family's side before his departure.
The two companies would have no cooperation if it were someone else.
Faced with Ezekiel's firm stance, Sophia felt utterly helpless.
She was well aware that although Samuel's name was on the contract, the Yale family could, in theory, sue Starlight Group for breach of contract and potentially receive some compensation.
Given Starlight Group's power and Samuel's temper, they would face an unbearable disaster if the Yale family truly pursued legal action.
"John, what's going on with Savannah? Why isn't she here today? Call her immediately!" Sophia dared not offend Ezekiel and had to suppress her anger as she yelled at John.
"Grandma, Savannah is truly outrageous. She doesn't respect you at all." John was eager to bring Savannah down and secretly hoped that her absence would lead to her being kicked out by Sophia.
"Stop talking nonsense and make the call! Do you want Mr. Takon to sit here doing nothing?" Sophia was growing anxious. Seeing John still hesitating, her fury erupted.
"Yes!"
John had never been scolded by his grandmother before. Seeing her anger, he dared not delay. He quickly dialed Savannah's phone.
"Hello?"
To his surprise, a man's voice came through the receiver.
There was no doubt that the one who answered must be Raymond.
"Where's Savannah? What's going on with her? Does she not know Starlight's representatives are here to discuss the partnership? Why hasn't she shown up yet?"
John was so furious his teeth ached as he questioned aggressively.
"Starlight Group came to negotiate, but what does that have to do with Savannah? Isn't the contract in your hands already?"
Raymond chuckled and hung up before John could react.
"Raymond, who was on the phone? Was it Grandma? Should I call her back? The representative from Starlight Group must have arrived. If he doesn't see me, he won't discuss the partnership with the company."
Savannah was anxiously waiting nearby. Seeing that Raymond barely spoke before hanging up, she grew even more worried and quickly reached for her phone.
"It's fine. No matter who calls, ignore them."
Raymond smiled reassuringly.
Savannah had no choice but to trust him, though she remained uneasy.
"What did Savannah say? Is she coming?"
Back at the Yale family's company, John was still shocked by having the call abruptly cut off when Sophia pressed him anxiously.
Inside the meeting room, Ezekiel had already given her an ultimatum. He would leave if Savannah did not show up within thirty minutes.
The survival of the Yale family was at stake. Sophia could not afford to take risks.
"Grandma, Savannah isn't coming. And that useless Raymond... he dared to hang up on me!" John fumed, eager to turn the situation against Savannah.
Even though he was the future heir, he did not care about the Yale family.
"What? She's not coming? Give me the phone!"
Sophia's face darkened with rage. She snatched John's phone and dialed the number herself.
"Hello?"
Once again, Raymond's lazy voice came through the receiver.
"Raymond, I'm warning you. This meeting is critical for the Yale family! If you dare to encourage Savannah not to come, don't blame me for going against Callum's will and kicking you out of the Yale family."
It was evident that Sophia was furious.
"Grandma, I..."
Sophia's voice was so loud that Savannah could hear everything without being on the call. She grew anxious and was about to speak up.
However, Raymond shot her a glance, signaling her to stay quiet.
"Grandma, you misunderstand. How could we dare not come?"
Raymond chuckled, speaking calmly yet firmly. It's just that Savannah wasn't feeling well this morning, so we really can't go. Besides, you know we don't even have a car."
"Raymond, what do you mean? Do you expect me to send a car to pick you up?"
Sophia instantly understood Raymond's hidden meaning and was enraged.
"Sigh, Grandma, you misunderstood me again. I'm not asking you to send a car. I'm asking you to come in person."
Before Sophia could finish speaking, Raymond countered in a seemingly casual yet firm tone, "That would show sincerity, wouldn't it?"
"What did you just say?"
Sophia trembled with fury, nearly spitting blood.
"Grandma, this worthless man is too arrogant! I suggest we immediately hold a family meeting and expel him from the Yale family!"
John, who had been eavesdropping, erupted in righteous indignation, rolling up his sleeves as if ready for a fight.
"Mrs. Yale, it's been five minutes. If you still can't bring Ms. Yale here, be prepared for the consequences!"
Just then, Ezekiel emerged with a grim expression, issuing a final warning.
"Mr. Takon, please don't worry. My granddaughter is feeling a bit unwell. I-I'll go fetch her immediately!"
Sophia no longer cared about her pride. She hurriedly ordered John to drive, personally going to pick up Savannah.
...
As Sophia rushed to Savannah's house in a panic, Savannah was equally anxious as she scolded Raymond, "It's all your fault! How could you speak to Grandma like that? You even made her come personally. Aren't you just trying to provoke her?"
"I wasn't deliberately provoking her. But after how she treated you yesterday, she must show sincerity and pay a price."
Raymond smiled, his voice firm. "I want them to know that you are my wife, and no one can bully you!"
"Raymond..."
Hearing his words, Savannah almost thought she had misheard.
When she looked at him, an illusion seemed to take shape. His figure suddenly appeared grand and imposing in her eyes.
Was this just an illusion?
"Savannah, how arrogant you are! You forced Grandma to come and invite you personally!"
As Savannah was lost in thought, John's scolding voice echoed downstairs.
"Oh no, Grandma is here!"
Savannah's face turned pale, and she hurriedly stood up to greet Sophia.
"Sit down and don't move. Since they came to invite you, let them show the proper respect."
Raymond remained composed, gently pressing her shoulders down while sitting leisurely.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The door was pounded violently.
Sophia's furious voice erupted like a raging storm, "Savannah! How much longer do you plan to act high and mighty? I've come, and you still won't open the door! Do you expect me to kneel before you?"
Savannah's face turned deathly pale, and she rushed to open the door, ignoring Raymond's attempt to stop her. "Grandma, it's not what you think! Please listen to my explanation."
Seeing Sophia's darkened face, Savannah tried to explain but was cut off impatiently. "Enough! I don't want to hear it! Starlight's representatives are still waiting. Come with me now!"
"Yes, Grandma, I'll go right away!"
Savannah panicked and prepared to leave.
Raymond blocked Sophia's way. "Hold on. Savannah can go, but not for free."
"What do you mean? I came to invite her. What more do you want?" Sophia fumed.
"Grandma, don't be mad. "
Savannah pleaded with Raymond through her eyes.
"Don't misunderstand, Grandma. I wouldn't dare demand anything."
Raymond smirked and glanced at John. "Since Savannah secured the project, and Starlight Group specifically requested to negotiate with her, I want her to be given full authority over this project without any interference."
"How dare you, Raymond? Are you mocking Grandma?"
John erupted in anger and quickly turned to Sophia. "Grandma, this fool is too arrogant. We can't let him blackmail us!"
"Shut up!" Sophia's face was grim, time was running out.
She clenched her teeth and roared, "Fine! I agree!"
