"Jaxon Linge, will you ever stop? What do I have to do for you to give up? I have someone I like, and even if you get my family's approval, I will never marry you!" Ella stared coldly at the man outside the gate.
Behind him stood several bodyguards and two luxurious Maybach cars. It was clear from this scene that this man was wealthy and influential.
Yet, despite Ella's words, he smiled ingratiatingly like a sycophant and said, "Ella, how many years have our families known each other? Do you think I don't know if you have a boyfriend? Besides, your father has already agreed to our union. Why go against your parents' wishes?"
The man, Jaxon, was the second young scion of the Linge family. His family was influential in Coton, primarily running a nationwide hotel business. Their families were business partners and lived in the same community.
However, Ella had moved out due to her growing annoyance at this man before her.
"Jaxon, are you crazy? Do you know everything I do every day? Did you know I went to a hotel with my boyfriend this morning?" Ella spat out her words in anger.
She had gone home, intending to attend a family dinner and make her choices clear. But everyone there seemed to be swayed by Jaxon, pressuring her to be with him. Someone even drugged her drink. Upon overhearing this, she immediately ran out.
Later on, the drug took effect, and under its influence combined with alcohol, she gave herself away. If the Scurr family found out that their scheme benefited someone else, who knows what they'd think?
Jaxon seemed aware of the drugging incident. Upon hearing Ella's words, his eyes widened in shock. He grabbed the iron gate, shook it furiously, and bellowed, "Ella, open it and explain what happened this morning! I warn you, don't think you can lie to me..."
"Lying? About what?" Ella sneered. "You conspired with my family to drug me. Couldn't I find my man to make the most of it? In fact, I should thank you all! I'm not usually so bold, and my boyfriend even praised me for being passionate. Thanks for such a memorable morning!"
Ella's words were like a knife slicing into Jaxon, tearing open the wound and pouring salt and alcohol into it. The pain almost took his breath away. He clenched his fists and kicked the iron gate furiously.
"Break the door!" Jaxon shouted in anger.
"Don't you dare!"
Just as the bodyguards were about to move forward, Ella's shout stopped them, making them hesitate.
"I warn you, this is my home, not one of your family's hotels, where you can come and go as you please! If your men dare to touch my gate, you'll never hear from me again!"
Ella's angry words left Jaxon fuming, yet he didn't dare make a move.
At that moment, a female secretary came running out from inside. She glanced coolly at the group outside the gate and handed a phone to Ella. "Ella, it's for you."
"Hello?" Ella took the call, and the voice on the other end made her smile.
"Since none of you believe me, how about this: I'll bring him by tomorrow to show you that I'm not a pawn to be manipulated at will. Then, you can give up!"
Jaxon stood there, stunned. He took a deep breath and glared at her. "Fine! I'll see who dares to take you from me."
"Let's go!" He turned away, his expression dark and menacing. Once in the car, he ordered, "You two get out and keep an eye on Ella. I want to know who she's really with! Investigate that person thoroughly and report back to me. If you mess this up, you'll face dire consequences."
With that, the two bodyguards nodded and left the car.

Meanwhile, Ella handed the phone back to her secretary.
"Cass, prepare the car. I need to go out!"
Ella's words made her frown.
"Ella, things are chaotic outside. After what you just said, I worry that Jaxon might lose control and come after you. Maybe we should stay home for now?"
Ella gave her a resigned smile. "Cass, there's no turning back for me now. Besides, I refuse to be led by the nose. Grandpa chose me over my father to lead the company because he knew I wouldn't easily compromise. If I can't handle this small problem, won't I be passive in everything I do in the future?"
The secretary sighed. Her name was Cassandra Zimmerman, Ella's childhood friend. Once a wealthy heiress, a conspiracy ruined her family, and her parents committed suicide in despair. Since then, Ella had taken her in, officially as her secretary, but privately, they were best friends. Their bond was as strong as if they were sworn sisters.
"Alright, I'll arrange the car. But this time, you have to listen to me. I'm sure Jaxon's men are still out there. I'll drive your car out first, and you leave in another one later. I'll lead them away, and you return as soon as possible."
With that, Cassandra turned and headed to the garage. Although it was just the two women in the mansion, Ella had complete confidence in Cassandra's abilities.
After all, Cassandra had honed her skills to perfection to find those who wronged her family. Not only was she a double-degree financial prodigy, but she was also a martial arts expert trained by a master. Therefore, Ella had no worries about Cassandra handling Jaxon's bodyguards alone.
Watching the Maserati speed away, Ella approached a Range Rover. A few minutes later, she left in that car.
