Two officers rushed forward, flashing their shiny handcuffs, reaching out to grab Jimmy and cuff him.
Jimmy had silently vowed he'd never wear handcuffs again before being released.
With both the resolve and the ability to do just that, he deftly evaded the two officers.
Jeremiah frowned, seeing this as not only resistance but a personal insult. "How dare you resist arrest?" he demanded, his expression darkening as he glared at Jimmy.
Jimmy smirked coldly. "You're taking me in without asking any questions? Is that fair?"
"You're asking for it!" Jeremiah wouldn't bother reasoning with a convict. He whipped out his baton and swung it at Jimmy, thinking the young, slender guy couldn't handle the hit.
However, Jimmy had reached his limit of tolerance. Instead of dodging, he struck back with explosive force, sending Jeremiah flying.
Jeremiah cried out, flying sideways and landing with a thud. He groaned and coughed blood, his face pale from the severe injuries inflicted by Jimmy's kick.
Jimmy's strength had long surpassed the War God Level; that kick was a fraction of his power, or Jeremiah would have been a corpse.
The other two officers charged at Jimmy, trying to take him down, but he easily kicked them away. The onlookers were stunned, unable to believe that the seemingly frail Jimmy could so easily take down three trained officers.
"He's a born criminal, attacking officers right after getting out. Shows his true vicious nature—definitely not a good guy."
"Who knows if that release certificate is forged? How can you walk free from a murder charge?"
"Tina might be right; maybe he broke out of prison..."
Voices murmured, continuing to slander and doubt Jimmy.
Some people defended him, shaking their heads. "Jimmy is always a good, outstanding kid. I refuse to believe he'd commit murder."
"Yes, Jimmy is gentle by nature. How could he do such a thing?"
"He hit Warner because his house was seized; it was self-defense."
"And this sheriff is unreasonable, arresting people indiscriminately."
Even though some felt for Jimmy, fear kept them quiet. Warner and Jeremiah were both tough to deal with. They all preferred to watch from the sidelines rather than get involved.
Warner and his wife were shocked; they never expected Jimmy to attack the cops. But soon, they were thrilled. Assaulting Jeremiah meant opposing the authorities. Whether Jimmy was legally released or an escapee didn't matter; he would be back behind bars. This played right into Warner's hands, leaving the house to him. Once the demolition compensation came through, it would be an untraceable affair. No one would take a cent from him! Besides, Jeremiah wasn't someone to provoke. Offending him could cost Jimmy his life. Warner smirked with malicious satisfaction, forgetting his pain.
Jeremiah, humiliated and angry, reached for his gun to shoot Jimmy. Jimmy's face darkened. He rushed forward, stomping Jeremiah's hand to the ground.
Crack!
"Agh!"
The sound of bones breaking mingled with Jeremiah's screams, his face contorted in agony.
Jimmy stayed expressionless, calm as could be. He twisted his foot again, causing Jeremiah to howl in pain and drop the gun.
Thanks to an old man in prison, Jimmy's skills were top-notch. He could kill even those with War God Level prowess in one strike. How could a mere gun threaten him? Since Jeremiah hadn't bothered with facts before drawing his weapon, Jimmy was furious and showed no mercy. Were it not for the familiar neighbors around, he might have killed Jeremiah on the spot.
This scene horrified the onlookers further. They shook their heads, lamenting that Jimmy dared assault the sheriff. They pitied him, thinking his legal release was a new beginning, but it seemed he'd soon return to prison. Some whispered about his brutality, assuming he must have killed many before to be so ruthless now.
Even Warner was shocked; he had started this mess. Jimmy might not spare him. Fearing for his safety, Warner signaled Tina to retreat into the house, trying to distance himself from this merciless killer.
"You dare assault an officer? Quick, notify the station!" Jeremiah shouted frantically to his subordinates.
In a panic, the young officers pulled out their phones and called the station.
Jimmy ignored Jeremiah's pig-like screams. If higher-ranking officers came, it would be better to sort out his housing issue. He wouldn't hesitate to deal with them if they were as unreasonable as Jeremiah.
He turned to Warner, who was shaking with fear.
"Y-You... stay back!" Warner's voice quivered with terror. He never imagined this seemingly scholarly, thin bastard could fight so fiercely. Now, he was afraid. The man had always made others cower and beg for mercy, never expecting to end up fleeing miserably now.
Jimmy stood over him, a cold smile on his face. "So, are you gonna move out?"
Terrified, Warner scooted back, glancing around. Seeing neighbors pointing and whispering, he swallowed his fear and shouted, "Why should I?"
Jimmy laughed in disbelief, kicking Warner away. "Why? You're asking me why when that's my house?"
He kicked him again.
Warner was a notorious troublemaker and shameless. With demolition looming, he wouldn't give up the house easily—a small fortune many couldn't earn in a lifetime. He resented Jimmy for not dying in prison and ruining his plans. As Jimmy approached, Warner's fear grew. He quickly concocted an excuse, "Your mother sold us the house. Are you trying to take it back?"
Jimmy frowned; that couldn't be true. Marilyn wouldn't sell without his knowledge.
Seeing Jimmy's doubt, Warner quickly said, "I have the contract."
"Fine, bring it out. I want to see when my mother sold the house to you," Jimmy replied with a cold smile.
Warner's heart jumped with joy. He'd prepared for this, having forged a contract when he heard about the demolition. He rushed inside to retrieve it.
Just then, a black car stopped outside, and several uniformed officers approached.
"It's Mr. Zorn." Jeremiah grinned, a malicious smile playing on his lips. This time, he would ensure Jimmy paid dearly, dragging him back to the station and ensuring his downfall.
