Andy gazed toward Keenan, a flicker of hope reigniting in his heart. He bowed deeply to Keenan's retreating figure, murmuring, "Thank you for your immense kindness."
At that moment, Valentina, observing from a distance, approached. "Grandpa, is he the esteemed Dr. Jauncy who can work miracles? Are you sure you haven't been deceived?"
Valentina was eager to meet the doctor her grandfather couldn't stop praising.
However, seeing that this esteemed healer was a young man in his twenties, she became skeptical.
In her experience, esteemed medical authorities were usually seasoned veterans, well past their fifties.
She couldn't believe Keenan could be that skilled, especially with his last words, which sounded like a charlatan's tricks.
"Valentina, don't be disrespectful!" Andy scolded his granddaughter, instructing, "Tomorrow, if I exhibit the symptoms Mr. Jauncy mentioned, take me to him in the city without delay!"
Valentina nodded reluctantly, still looking skeptical.
...
The following afternoon, Valentina was in the conference room at Sanderson Group headquarters, discussing the company's future development plans with the senior executives.
Ring! Ring!
Her phone suddenly rang, showing her father's number. "Valentina, your uncle has finally brought Dr. Sherman to see your grandfather. Hurry home!" came the excited voice over the phone.
Peyton Sherman was a big name in Oceanvale's traditional medicine circles. He typically attended only to the city's top officials.
The Sanderson family had gone to great lengths to secure his presence.
"Fantastic! I'm on my way!" Valentina exclaimed with delight, swiftly exiting the meeting room.
The Sanderson family, a top family in Seaview City, resided in a lavish estate sprawling over a thousand square meters on the outskirts.
The mansion was extravagantly luxurious and adorned with intricate carvings and paintings.
Upon arriving at her grandfather's bedroom, Valentina saw an elderly man with a face full of wrinkles taking her grandfather's pulse.
The Sanderson family crowded around the bed, holding their breath, afraid to make a sound.
"Ahh!" Suddenly, Andy sat up abruptly, leaning over the bedside, retching uncontrollably.
No matter how violently he retched, nothing came out, only dry heaves.
He then collapsed back onto the bed, two streams of dark purple blood trickling from his nose and ears, a terrifying sight.
"Dr. Sherman, what's happening?" the Sanderson family was aghast, turning to Peyton for answers.
Peyton furrowed his brow, fingers on Andy's wrist again, checking his breath, realizing the old man had slipped into unconsciousness.
Valentina was just as shocked, instinctively edging closer with the others.
But then, she recalled Keenan's words from the previous day and quickly checked the time on her phone.
It was 2:01 p.m. He was right.
"No. Impossible..." Valentina muttered in disbelief.
"Valentina, what's wrong?" Everyone turned to her, faces full of confusion.
Valentina swallowed hard and said, "Dad, yesterday, Grandpa and I met someone who said Grandpa would suddenly start retching and bleeding from the ears and nose today at two. He also said that if we don't find him by seven, Grandpa won't survive more than two days."
"Nonsense!" Valentina's dad shouted angrily, "You believe the tricks of a charlatan? Get out, and don't hinder Dr. Sherman from treating your grandfather!"
Valentina's ominous words had infuriated her dad, and had Peyton not been present, he might have resorted to physical reprimand.
"Wait!" Peyton suddenly called out to Valentina, his expression gravely serious. "What was the name of the person who told your grandfather?"
Valentina hesitated. "I think Grandpa mentioned his name was Keenan Jauncy."
At the mention of the name, Peyton sprang to his feet, a mixture of astonishment and excitement on his face. "Yes, it must be him. Quick! Take your grandfather to see him, or it will be too late after seven!"
The Sanderson family was taken aback, frozen in place at the sight of Peyton's fervent reaction.
Could it be that Keenan possessed some extraordinary abilities?
Meanwhile, a quaint two-story building stood at the eastern end of the city's village.
Keenan sat leisurely in the courtyard, sipping tea.
This modest house was his only property, holding sentimental value as the place where he grew up.
After tidying up the courtyard, he sat there, reminiscing about his childhood.
Honk! Honk!
Outside, a car horn sounded. Five Rolls-Royces pulled up in front of the small building.
Keenan put down his teacup, guessing that the Sanderson family had arrived.
Following a series of knocks, Valentina hurriedly led a group of people into the courtyard.
Andy sat slumped in a wheelchair, his face as pale as paper, his condition visibly dire as he was slowly wheeled in.
Upon seeing Keenan's face, Peyton's pupils contracted sharply.
Before he could speak, Keenan chuckled lightly at Andy, teasing, "Didn't expect your family to bring you here. I thought you'd be dead in a couple of days."
"Outrageous!" At these words, the Sanderson family erupted in fury.
"You impudent fool! How dare you speak to our elders so disrespectfully? You must have a death wish!"
"Bow down and apologize to my father immediately! Or the Sanderson family will crush you with a finger!"
The family lashed out at Keenan, enraged by his disrespect and the fact that he was too young to be taken seriously as a skilled doctor.
They felt as though they were being mocked.
Yet, amidst their tirade, Peyton approached Keenan, trembling, and to everyone's shock, knelt at his feet, his voice choked with emotion.
"Greetings, Dr. Jauncy. You're finally out."
The sight of Peyton, a figure of authority in Blueharbor's traditional medicine industry, kneeling before a young man left the Sanderson family thunderstruck.
The sudden twist left them all stunned.
Even Valentina's uncle, who had invested considerable resources and time to bring Peyton to treat Andy, was speechless.
To see Peyton kneel and refer to Keenan as an esteemed doctor was beyond comprehension.
Valentina was equally stunned, her mouth agape, eyes wide with incredulity.
