The man hiding in the bushes, realizing he couldn't stay hidden any longer, sulkily stepped out. Yvonne looked closely and saw that the man with dark skin and a scruffy goatee was Elijah.
"Dr. Garner, what are you doing here?" Yvonne asked in surprise.
"I... I was worried you wouldn't find the Intelligence Grass, so I tagged along to help you look," Elijah stammered, secretly cursing Ian for ruining his plan. If that idiot Ian hadn't spotted him, he might have already gotten a peek at Yvonne's stunning figure.
In reality, there was no Intelligence Grass on White Tiger Mountain. Elijah made up the whole story just to trick Yvonne into coming here. He'd been lusting after her for a long time, but never found a chance to make a move in the city. Out here, with no one around, he saw his opportunity.
"Dr. Garner, if you wanted to help me look for the Intelligence Grass, you could have just come with me openly. No need to sneak around and act all suspicious!" Yvonne said.
"Yvonne, I'll be straight with you. I've had a thing for you for ages! I've been single my whole life and never even been with a woman. Just let me have this one chance, okay? I promise I'll treat you right, and if you agree to marry me, I'll make sure you have a good life!"
Yvonne was stunned, unable to believe that Elijah, this so-called miracle doctor, was actually such a pervert.
"You're over forty, and I'm only twenty-two. I'm half your age! How can you even think about me like that? If you had a daughter, she'd probably be about my age…" she tried to reason with him.
"Don't try to talk sense to me-it's useless! Sure, I'm a little older, but older guys know how to treat a woman. Just go along with it," Elijah said, walking toward her.
"Don't come near me. If you try anything, you'll end up in jail!" Yvonne warned, backing away, her voice trembling. She finally realized she'd been totally fooled- there was never any Intelligence Grass; Elijah had tricked her into coming here.
"Even if I get shot for it, just being with you would be worth it!" Elijah snarled, veins bulging, his face twisted with desire.
"Don't you dare touch her!" Ian suddenly jumped in front of Yvonne, yelling.
At that critical moment, Yvonne saw Ian as her lifeline.
"Move it, you moron! Don't get in my way, or I'll beat you to death!" Elijah yelled.
"No way! Even if you kill me, I won't let you hurt my sister!" Ian shot back, standing firm.
Even though he wasn't the smartest, he knew Yvonne treated him well. Therefore, he would do his best to protect her.
"If you want to die so bad, I'll help you out!" Elijah yelled, then kicked Ian hard in the stomach. Ian fired back with a punch right to Elijah's face.
"Aah!" Ian screamed in pain, stumbling backward until he nearly fell off the edge of the cliff.
"Aagh!" Elijah howled as Ian's punch hit him, making him stumble back several steps. Ian might be slow, but he's got freakish strength- that punch made Elijah see stars and almost knocked him out.
"You dummy!" Yvonne gasped, terrified as Ian tottered near the edge, right above the Demon Sealing Cave. If he fell, who knows what would happen!
"Run, Yvonne! Don't worry about me, I can take him!" Ian yelled.
Scared of what Elijah might do, Yvonne didn't hesitate. She spun around and ran up the mountain. Just the thought of that filthy old creep touching her made her want to throw up.
Suddenly, Elijah's eyes went wide with terror as he stared over Ian's shoulder. "There's a monster behind you!" he screamed, scared out of his mind.
Ian's hair stood on end when he heard that, and he whipped his head around to look behind him.
