The moment Castiel let Larry and the others into the room, they stopped dead in their tracks.
"Adelyn, you're finally awake!"
"Adelyn!"
They focused on Adelyn, who was leaning against the headboard as their eyes lit up with excitement.
"Grandpa, Dad, I'm so sorry I made you worry."
When she saw her family again, Adelyn's eyes reddened and tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Silly child! It's alright now." A middle-aged woman rushed to Adelyn's bedside, hugged her tightly, and broke down in tears. This was her mother, Miranda Warth.
"How can this be? Did that guy really bring Adelyn back?" Xavier stood there like he'd been struck by lightning, staring at Adelyn in disbelief. His face kept changing as all kinds of emotions flickered across it.
"Thank you so much, Castiel!" Larry turned to Castiel, his voice full of gratitude.
"You're too kind, Mr. Larry," Castiel said humbly, waving his hand.
Zoe was smiling with joy, but when she looked at Castiel, there was a trace of doubt in her eyes. She couldn't figure out how her sister's illness, which had stumped so many top doctors in Chiton, could be fixed so quickly by this guy.
"So what exactly was wrong with my sister? Will it... strike again?" Zoe leaned in, staring intently at Castiel as she asked.
Everyone else in the room turned to Castiel, too, anxious to hear his answer. Adelyn's condition was a huge worry for them, and they had to get to the bottom of it.
Seeing the worry in Larry's and the others' eyes, Castiel smiled faintly, though his expression remained serious.
"Strictly speaking, Ms. Adelyn isn't actually sick."
"She's not sick?"
The room echoed with their astonished gasps.
"That's right! She passed out because there was too much Nightcore Energy in her body, which threw her body off balance. That's a classic sign of a Nightcore Vessel. According to the records, women with this body type usually don't live past twenty."
"What? Only twenty?"
It suddenly all made sense. No wonder Adelyn's condition had gotten so much worse these past two years, and her comas kept lasting longer. She just turned twenty this year. If Castiel hadn't stepped in, she might not have made it.
"I just absorbed some of the Nightcore Energy from her body, so she should be fine for six months."
As soon as Castiel finished speaking, Larry's expression changed. He grabbed Castiel's arm and pleaded, "Castiel, I'm begging you. Please find a way to cure Adelyn for good!"
"That's right, Castiel! If you can cure Adelyn, we will give you anything you want!" Evan added, stepping forward.
"Mr. Larry, Mr. Evan, it's not that I don't want to help. It's just that with my abilities, it'll take at least one or two years to get rid of all the cold energy in her body. And with Adelyn's condition, I can only treat her twice a year at most."
Castiel looked a bit troubled. Using acupuncture to force out the Nightcore Energy could work, but with Adelyn's weak body, she couldn't handle another session for at least six months.
"Two years? That's totally fine! If Adelyn gets better, Castiel, you'll be our savior!" Larry's eyes filled with hope, his voice brimming with excitement.
The room's atmosphere shifted as everyone recognized the significance of Larry's words, as Castiel's status within the family soared.
Meanwhile, standing aside, Xavier regained his composure, his face turning cold and grim.
"You're full of it! I bet it was just dumb luck. What Nightcore Vessel? If Adelyn isn't sick, what is she? You're just stalling to scam us." Xavier pointed accusingly at Castiel, then turned to Adelyn.
"Adelyn! Are you really fooled by this country bumpkin? Look at him! If even Dr. Zorn couldn't cure you, how could he? Trust me, I'll take you abroad, and we'll find a cure there!"
A flash of viciousness crossed his face when Xavier saw how Adelyn looked at Castiel. He pointed at the latter, his tone full of disdain.
In the crowd, Evan was about to rise in anger at those words, but to his surprise, his father quietly stopped him with a hand, a mysterious smile playing on his face.
Adelyn's gaze was filled with contempt as she looked at Xavier.
Xavier was the eldest grandson of the Casson family in Jayton City—a rare family in the city that could rival the Lysons.
Everyone present knew that the young man had pursued Adelyn for the past two years.
"Mr. Casson, your affairs are none of my concern. I won't go abroad with you. I believe in Castiel. If there's nothing else, I'd like to rest. And please, call me Ms. Lyson from now on."
Her voice, though soft, carried a firm rejection.
Xavier's eyes widened in disbelief. "What! Adelyn, you trust this guy? Fine, Castiel, just you wait!"
With those words, Xavier, eyes burning with anger, stormed out of the room.
Castiel watched Xavier leave, killing intent flashing in his eyes. If they weren't in the Lyson Manor, he wouldn't have hesitated to end Xavier's life.
"Ah, the young ones should settle their own matters," Larry mused, observing Castiel's brief flash of hostility.
"Thank you, Castiel!" Adelyn's voice was gentle yet enchanting. She looked at Castiel, smiling softly.
"Now that I'm here, I will heal you."
Their eyes met, and Castiel's gaze shone with confidence. He finally understood why he had been sent to the Lyson family. The Nightcore Vessel was the ultimate supplement for the Lightbane Technique. If he could fully harness Adelyn's Nightcore Energy, his technique might advance to the fifth level.
This opportunity was one Castiel couldn't pass up.
"Haha! Let's prepare a feast to thank Castiel!" Larry laughed heartily, a peculiar glint in his eyes as he glanced at Adelyn and Castiel.
"Ms. Adelyn's recovery is a tremendous joy for us!" Gio exclaimed, his eyes moist with tears of joy. He hurried off to carry out Larry's orders.
