Chapter 7: Adelyn Lyson Awakens

"Found it. This is where the Nightcore Energy is gathering!" Castiel's left hand moved skillfully across Adelyn's body until it finally paused on a smooth, flat spot. Right away, he could feel the strongest chill coming from that area. Keeping his eyes shut, Castiel used his energy to lock onto the exact spot where the Nightcore Energy was gathering. His left hand shot out, quickly grabbing a thin golden needle from a cloth pouch by his side. Swish! The golden needle flashed down, landing steadily in Adelyn's body. Castiel's left hand moved so fast it was a blur, inserting golden needles one after another into Adelyn's body. He used acupuncture, a standard treatment in traditional medicine, which could have wildly different effects depending on the technique and the points chosen. Castiel had learned the real deal from Grissom himself. The golden needles, all different lengths, formed a subtle but clear pattern on Adelyn's body—almost like a complicated array. Compared to the silver needles he'd used, the golden ones seemed to drain even more of Castiel's energy. Once he was done, Castiel let out a heavy sigh, and even with his eyes still shut, one could see the exhaustion on his face. Boom! Just as Castiel finished, Adelyn's body shuddered, and a wave of icy energy burst out of her, making the temperature in the room drop instantly. "Solaris Nine!" When Castiel felt a sudden chill surge from Adelyn's body straight into his right hand, he frowned and muttered under his breath. He summoned a rush of Lightbane Energy from his core, sending it straight to his right arm. His right arm turned into a battlefield- Adelyn's Nightcore Energy on one side, and his own Lightbane Energy on the other. "Refine it!" As his muscles started to ache, Castiel ran the Lightbane Technique, and right away, he felt a powerful pull from his core, sucking the Nightcore Energy out of his arm and into his body. Following the path laid out by the technique, both energies started racing through Castiel's limbs, getting faster and faster. Moments passed until Castiel's right arm was so cold it felt numb. Only then did the Nightcore Energy finally retreat back into Adelyn's body and disappear. Castiel stayed deep in his meditative state- he was right at a critical breakthrough. "Mmm..." Adelyn's body gave a gentle shiver, her long black eyelashes fluttering. She slowly woke up. Her bright eyes opened, and confusion flashed across her beautiful gaze. Adelyn felt an unfamiliar warmth, like basking in sunlight, something she hadn't felt in years. Even now, she could feel waves of warmth flowing up from her lower body, slowly spreading inside her and bringing her strength. Once pale as paper, her face was now starting to look a little rosier. Propping herself up a bit, Adelyn glanced curiously down at her lower body. "Ah!" Suddenly, something she saw made Adelyn panic, and just as she was about to scream, a big hand clamped over her mouth. As she looked at him with wide, terrified eyes, Castiel just flashed her an innocent, harmless smile. "Ms. Adelyn, please don't get the wrong idea. I'm just treating you!" Snapping out of his cultivation state, Castiel realized Adelyn was already awake. Luckily, he stopped her just in time. If Larry and the others barged in right now, there'd be no way Castiel could explain himself. After hearing Castiel's words, the fear slowly faded from Adelyn's eyes. Their gazes met, and she gave a little nod. "Whew, I'm glad you get it! I will let go now, but please don't yell, okay?" Once she nodded, Castiel took his hand away. "What's your name?" Adelyn asked, her beautiful eyes fixed on Castiel's, her tone unusually calm for someone in this situation. "I'm Castiel Lawne. Your grandpa asked me to treat you. Don't move, I'll take out the needles now." Castiel couldn't help but notice how different Adelyn felt from other women. He kept his eyes shut while pulling out the golden needles. By the time he opened them, Adelyn had already straightened her clothes. Even though it was just a quick glimpse, Adelyn's graceful figure was burned into Castiel's mind. "Thank you." Leaning back against the headboard, Adelyn gave Castiel a gentle smile. She didn't know why, but as soon as she saw Castiel, she felt a strange sense of warmth and an urge to get closer to him. Of course, Adelyn didn't realize that when Castiel refined the Nightcore Energy in her body, she also absorbed a tiny bit of his Lightbane Energy, which was why she felt this way. "No need to thank me. I'll get Mr. Larry and the others now." But unlike Adelyn, Castiel was practically buzzing with excitement. His Lightbane Technique, which had been stuck at the third level for ages, had finally broken through to the fourth, thanks to Adelyn. After refining some of the Nightcore Energy from Adelyn's body, Castiel could feel the Lightbane Energy in his core had more than doubled, and his technique had shot straight up to the fourth level.
