"I can't believe I made fun of Aiden. I must've been out of my mind!"
Ivan regretted it deeply, wishing he could slap himself.
A few minutes later, Stefan had knocked his head on the ground a hundred times.
His forehead was bruised, blood streaming down his face. He looked pathetic.
All his earlier arrogance was gone.
He knelt there, trembling, "Boss, can I leave now?"
Aiden said coolly, "You said you'd break my leg earlier. If you break one of your own, I'll let you go."
Stefan's face changed dramatically, his lips trembling, "I..."
"What, you want me to do it for you?" Aiden raised an eyebrow.
Aiden looked harmless, but seeing him sent chills down Stefan's spine. He couldn't stop shaking.
Gritting his teeth, Stefan grabbed a knife from one of his guys and stabbed it hard into his thigh.
"Aaahhh!"
Stefan's scream was bloodcurdling, his features twisted in agony. Even as he gritted his teeth, his mouth twitched uncontrollably.
"Get lost," Aiden said flatly.
Stefan scrambled into the car as fast as he could.
His guys helped each other into the car.
Ivan limped over, knelt, and said, "Mr. Smith, I didn't know any better! I was very rude to you. Please forgive me."
Aiden ignored him and went to wake up Amelia.
Amelia slowly opened her eyes, finding herself leaning against Aiden's arm.
She hurriedly stood up, looking around in surprise. "Where are Stefan and his men?"
Aiden smiled, "I just reasoned with Stefan, so he decided to leave."
"Reasoned? Stefan's not the type to listen to reason," Amelia said, clearly not buying it.
Ivan said, "It's true that Stefan left after listening to Mr. Smith's reasoning. You can ask them if you don't believe me."
"It's true," the bodyguards, who had just gotten up, agreed.
Aiden's actions had left them all in awe, and they wanted to befriend him.
Amelia was half-convinced and was about to ask more when her phone suddenly rang.
After answering the call, she became flustered, "Grandpa's condition has worsened. I must hurry over!"
She quickly got into the car with Aiden, speeding toward the Larson residence in Stridora.
On the way, Aiden learned from Amelia that her grandfather, Wade Larson, had suddenly fallen ill half a year ago and had recently been slipping in and out of consciousness, with the possibility of passing away at any moment.
The Larson family had a vacation villa in West Mountain. They'd recently found hot springs there.
However, William Fallon had his eye on the villa and wanted to buy it cheap.
When the Larson family refused, William pressured them to shut down two projects.
The Larson family had lost millions.
The Larson family was facing hardships, making Wade's health worse.
When Wade got sick, he remembered a promise he'd made years ago to Gerald, so he had Amelia go to Vonard Village for help.
After hearing Amelia out, Aiden said, "Don't worry. Since you're my fiancée, I will not just stand by and do nothing."
Amelia frowned slightly. "Aiden, that engagement was signed by my grandpa over ten years ago. He doesn't represent me. Arranged marriages are outdated now. If you can cure my grandpa, I will compensate you."
Aiden just stayed quiet, not saying anything else.
After a while, the Ford pulled up in front of a three-story villa.
When Amelia and Aiden got out, a well-dressed woman hurried over. It was Amelia's mom, Sarah Jameson.
Sarah immediately scolded her, "Where have you been? Your grandpa could die any minute, and you're still out running around!"
"Mom, I went to the mountains to find a doctor," Amelia explained.
Sarah huffed, "Like we need you to find a doctor! Who in Stridora is better than Mr. Sullivan? Your uncle pulled many strings to bring Hudson Sullivan here to treat your grandfather!"
Amelia's face lit up with surprise, "Uncle got Mr. Sullivan to come? Then Grandpa is saved!"
"Let's see this doctor you found," Sarah scoffed.
Amelia pointed to Aiden. "Mom, this is Aiden Smith, the doctor I found—"
Before she could finish, Sarah cut her off with a wave.
She noticed Aiden's simple clothes and ordinary looks, finding nothing impressive about him. More than that, Aiden was limping.
Sarah's face turned sour. "This is the so-called doctor you brought back from the mountains? He's a cripple! What a joke!"
"Mom, Grandpa said that if anyone could save him, it would be Mr. Brown, and Aiden is his disciple. Perhaps he could work with Mr. Sullivan to save Grandpa," Amelia defended Aiden, though she also had doubts.
A middle-aged man burst out of the villa, yelling, "Sarah! Amelia! What are you doing out here? Dad might not make it!"
Sarah hurried inside with the middle-aged man.
Amelia pulled Aiden along into the villa. "No matter what, you must see my grandpa."
Inside the master bedroom, the whole Larson family had gathered, everyone looking miserable.
On the bed lay a skinny old man, pale as a ghost. It was Wade Larson.
Beside him stood an elderly man with a sage-like demeanor, stroking his goatee and sighing, "Mr. Wade is beyond saving. Even I can do nothing. Prepare for the worst."
His words pronounced Wade's death sentence.
Thud!
The Larson family members fell to their knees, weeping.
"Quack," a voice suddenly broke through the sobs.
Everyone turned to look at the source of the voice. It was Aiden Smith.
The Larson family gazed at him with confusion, but mostly anger.
Hudson Sullivan was a renowned doctor in Stridora, difficult to invite, and Dustin Larson had gone to great lengths to bring him here.
Yet this unknown young man dared to call Hudson incompetent, which was an insult to Hudson and the Larson family.
"Who is this insolent fool?" Dustin's face was livid with anger.
Amelia quickly said, "Uncle, this is Aiden Smith, the doctor I brought from the mountains to treat Grandpa."
Dustin sneered, "Not just any doctor can treat your grandfather, especially not someone with zero manners!"
"Somebody get this guy out of here!" Dustin snapped.
"Wait," Hudson suddenly spoke up.
