"You can fix my leg in just one minute?"
Dexter couldn't help but laugh when he heard that.
His leg had been crushed in a machine accident and would need an expensive surgery.
Travis said he could fix it in just one minute. No way he could believe that.
"Come on, Travis, quit joking. I stopped hoping for a miracle a long time ago."
Dexter shook his head, preparing to pull his pant leg back down.
But Travis stopped him.
"Dad, I'm serious. Just give it a try. You'll see!"
Seeing how determined Travis was, Dexter gave in, though he didn't want Travis to see what his leg looked like.
As Travis slowly rolled up the pant leg, a shriveled leg appeared.
It was a whole size smaller than a normal leg, with an ugly scar running all the way up to the thigh.
Travis's heart clenched when he saw this. He reached out and gently ran his fingers over the scar, his hand trembling.
He couldn't even begin to imagine how much pain his father must have gone through.
"Travis, just let it go," Dexter said, unable to stand seeing his son so upset.
Travis forced a smile. "Dad, just give me a minute. I'll have your leg as good as new!"
With that, he went into his room.
A moment later, he came back out holding a bowl of water.
"Dad, drink this."
"What is it?" Dexter asked, confused.
"Just some medicine I made," Travis answered.
He ground a Bone Restoration Pill and mixed the powder into the water. The pill was super powerful, and since Dexter was just a regular person, he probably couldn't handle it all at once.
Travis mixed it with water to make it easier to take.
"Oh, okay."
Dexter drank it down in one go, completely trusting his son. He knew Travis would never do anything to hurt him.
After drinking the medicine, Dexter quickly felt warmth spreading through his whole body, like his bones were opening up and he'd never felt better.
"This medicine…"
Dexter stared at Travis in shock.
Travis grinned, "Hang on, the real surprise is still coming!"
He grabbed Dexter's skinny leg and started channeling spiritual energy into it.
In just a second, Dexter's leg, which had been all shriveled up, started to heal right before their eyes.
"What the…"
Dexter and Raven were completely stunned. This was straight-up miraculous.
In less than a minute, Dexter's leg looked like new, and even the scar was gone.
"All done!" Travis said, getting up.
"Dad, get up and walk around a little."
At first, Dexter was in shock.
Then, he carefully stood up and stepped with his once-injured leg.
When he realized no pain, his face lit up with joy.
"It doesn't hurt!" he exclaimed to Travis and Raven.
Travis smiled, "Try taking a few more steps, maybe pick up the pace a little."
Dexter nodded and took a few more steps. He started walking faster and faster.
He walked around the yard and realized not only was there no pain, but even the weakness he used to feel was completely gone.
Dexter was so excited he could barely contain himself.
"My leg's better! It's healed!"
Raven saw that her husband's leg was as good as new and couldn't help but cry tears of joy.
They finally believe their son picked up some exceptional skills while he was away in the mountains.
Seeing his parents so happy, Travis felt a deep joy in his heart.
He solemnly told them, "Mom, Dad, don't worry. Now that I'm back, I'll ensure you live a good life!"
The couple nodded vigorously, tears in their eyes, filled with hope for the future.
...
That evening, Lauryn returned home from school, delighted to see her parents.
She was over the moon when she learned that Travis had healed Dexter's leg.
Dexter's leg had been a source of immense pain, especially during bad weather, and she had felt helpless.
With her brother's help, it was a miraculous turn of events.
"Thank you!" Lauryn exclaimed, hugging Travis's arm with gratitude.
"Silly girl, no need to thank your brother," Travis said, affectionately ruffling her hair.
Watching his children getting along so well, Dexter felt immense satisfaction.
He suggested, "Raven, today's a special day for our family. Let's get some groceries and celebrate properly!"
Raven beamed, "Sure, I'll go shopping right away!"
"Mom, you rest. I'll go," Travis offered, stepping forward.
"Do you know the place? Let me do it," Raven said, shaking her head.
"Mom, I'll take Travis with me!" Lauryn chimed in.
Seeing the determination in their faces, Raven smiled wryly, "Alright, alright, you two go. Here's some money. Remember to buy your favorite foods!"
Lauryn took the cash with a grin, "Got it, and don't forget Dad's favorite liquor!"
Dexter laughed, "You cheeky girl."
Lauryn stuck her tongue out at her father, then grabbed Travis's hand, and they dashed outside.
Watching his family so full of joy, Travis felt his heart swell with happiness.
This kind of life was worth more than anything else.
Soon, guided by Lauryn, they arrived at a bustling street market nearby.
Though it was late, the market buzzed with activity.
Most residents were busy from dawn till dusk. The evening was their only time to shop.
"By the way, aren't you supposed to be in evening classes? You're in your senior year now," Travis asked, carrying a load of groceries behind Lauryn.
He recalled his senior year when evening classes lasted until 9:30 PM. Why was his sister home so early?
"We do, but with the year-end approaching, and the cold weather, the school canceled evening classes to reduce our stress. They want us to study at home," Lauryn explained while picking vegetables at a stall.
Travis nodded, appreciating the school's thoughtful approach.
Back in his day, no one cared about stress. They only cared about exam scores.
"Alright, just grab a liquor for Dad, and we're set!" Lauryn declared, clapping her hands after paying the vendor.
Watching his sister's lively demeanor, Travis couldn't help but tease, "Our little girl has grown up. She even knows how to shop now."
"Hmph, I'm nineteen already! Don't forget, I cooked the mac and cheese you ate last night. Stop treating me like a kid!" Lauryn retorted, hands on her hips.
Her cute defiance made Travis laugh, "Yes, our Lauryn has grown up. Just don't forget me when you get married."
Lauryn blushed, taking the groceries and change from the vendor and playfully shaking her fist.
"You're annoying. Who said anything about getting married?"
Laughing, Travis sprinted ahead, and their laughter echoed through the small market street, drawing smiles from passersby.
Under the setting sun, the scene was as beautiful as a painting.
