"What did you say?"
Travis's answer left the young man stunned.
After a moment, he frowned, looked around, and said, "Wait, are you saying you killed those people?"
Dexter and Raven turned pale, exchanging worried looks as their son admitted.
Travis shot them a reassuring look, then said, "Yep, I slapped them into a cloud of blood."
"You slapped them into a blood mist?"
"Are you freaking kidding me, kid?" The young guy snapped out of it, pointed at Travis, and started swearing.
"Don't believe me? Go check the security cameras yourself," Travis said, not wanting to waste time.
The young guy hesitated because Travis didn't seem to be joking.
Maybe he was telling the truth? Nah, that was impossible. Who could slap people into a blood mist?
"Hey, somebody pull up the security footage!" he barked, still not believing it but wanting to check.
They pulled up the footage in the security office a few minutes later.
The young guy watched, and when he saw what happened, he dropped into a chair and freaked out.
On the screen, Travis just lifted his hand, and Caden and his buddies disappeared into thin air.
"Y-you...you..." The guy freaked out, pointing at Travis and barely able to speak.
Was Travis even human? How could he make three grown men vanish with a hand?
Was it some magic trick?
Travis sneered, "Now do you believe me? Remember, my name's Travis Jauncy. If you've got a problem, come find me."
Then he pulled his parents up and left.
As they walked out of the security room, Dexter and Raven were still shaken, barely able to process what had happened.
"Travis, if we walk away, will we get in trouble?" Raven asked, clearly worried.
Dexter chimed in, "Yeah, Travis, maybe we should go to the police and tell them what happened. I can use some connections to try to get the sentence reduced."
Seeing how worried his parents were, Travis grinned, "Mom, Dad, you don't need to worry. Those guys were scum. Nothing's gonna happen."
"But..."
His parents tried to say something else, but Travis cut them off.
"No more buts. Your son isn't the same as before. Nobody could touch me even if I turned the world upside down."
His parents looked at each other, speechless.
They thought they were losing their son again.
As they were sighing, a fancy BMW drove by.
Inside, a beautiful woman with gold-rimmed glasses was looking over a contract.
She suddenly sensed something and glanced out the window, just catching sight of Travis and his parents walking away.
"That figure..." She froze.
That back looked so familiar, almost like the one in her memory.
Her heart skipped a beat.
She quickly told the driver, "Stop the car!"
"Ms. Preston, what's going on?" the secretary in the front seat asked, turning around.
Regina Preston didn't answer and hurried out of the car.
Travis and his parents were already gone when she got to the company entrance.
"Was I just seeing things?"
She took off her glasses and rubbed her forehead.
After all, the person had been gone for ten years. No way it was him.
"Ms. Preston, are you alright?"
The secretary came over, looking worried.
"I'm fine, let's go," Regina said, shaking her head and turning to get back in the car.
Just then, a commotion broke out from the security office.
She frowned, put her glasses back on, and asked, "What's happening in the security office?"
"I'm not sure, I'll go check," the secretary said, heading over.
She nodded. Soon, her secretary came running back, looking freaked out.
"What's wrong?" she asked.
"Ms. Preston, this... this is bad. Someone died!" the secretary stammered, looking terrified.
"What? Someone died?" Regina was stunned and rushed toward the security office.
"What happened? How did someone end up dead?"
She quickly found the head of security, Kingsley.
Kingsley, pale as a ghost, saw her and rushed over, grabbing onto her like a lifeline.
"Ms. Preston, you have to help me!" he cried.
"What happened?" she asked, frowning down at Kingsley.
Kingsley told her everything that happened.
She listened, totally in disbelief.
Three security guards got slapped into a blood mist? No way!
"Show me the footage," she said, her face turning cold.
After she watched the footage, her face went pale. "This... this can't be real!"
Regina was well-educated and had never believed in anything supernatural.
But the footage clearly showed a young guy wiping out three people with just a wave. How could anyone have that kind of power?
"Ms. Preston, this is serious. We should call the police," the secretary said.
Kingsley nodded quickly, "Yeah, we have to get this guy arrested!"
Regina nodded, about to agree, when she suddenly noticed the guy in the video looked familiar.
"Wait, that face..." she gasped, shaking her head. "No way... it can't be him."
"Ms. Preston, what's wrong?" the secretary and Kingsley asked, startled.
Regina shook her head, then turned to Kingsley.
"Have you seen this guy before? Do you know his name?"
Kingsley nodded over and over.
"Yeah, I've seen him. He's the killer. He said his name is Travis Jauncy."
The name hit Regina, and she almost stumbled backward.
"Ms. Preston!" The secretary and Kingsley hurried to catch her.
Regina just stared at the screen, tears rolling down her cheeks.
Did Travis finally return?
Meanwhile, Travis had already brought his parents home.
"Mom, Dad, don't worry about it. I told you everything's going to be fine," he said, noticing they still looked anxious.
His parents forced a smile and stayed quiet.
As long as their son was alive, they'd wait, even if he went to jail.
At least now they had hope.
"Travis, you still haven't told us where you've been all these years," Raven said.
Dexter looked at him, too, curious.
Where had Travis been for the past ten years? Why had he disappeared without a word?
Seeing how curious they were, Travis hesitated. He didn't want to hide the truth, but he knew they wouldn't buy it if he said he'd spent ten years training on a mountain. They might even think he'd lost his mind.
After a pause, he said, "Mom, Dad, I spent the last ten years up in the mountains, learning from a master who took me in and taught me a bunch of stuff. I just got back."
"Learning on a mountain? A master?" They both looked skeptical.
Seeing they didn't believe him, Travis grinned. "It's true. If you don't believe me, I'll show you."
He rolled up Dexter's pants.
"Dad, I picked up some medical skills, too. Give me a minute and I'll fix your leg."
