Chapter 7: I Will Make You Lose Everything

Late at night, after Levi's exhausted family had gone to bed, he wandered around Floriaville for a while but couldn't find a good spot to cultivate. Eventually, he ended up by a small lake on the edge of town, where he sat down cross-legged. As Levi started meditating, the spiritual energy around him began to gather toward him. "Using the secret method my master taught me, I've tempered my body hundreds of times-now I can actually feel the spiritual energy around me." "There just isn't much spiritual energy in this world. If I want to get stronger faster, I'll need to find some top-notch herbs." "Besides, my body can now fully absorb all the spiritual energy inside these herbs." Thinking this over, Levi pulled out the hundred-year-old wild ginseng Elias had given him. After a bit of prep, Levi hungrily soaked up all the spiritual energy inside. If anyone else had been there, they would've been totally blown away by what they saw! Levi was shrouded in white mist, making the whole place look like some kind of fairyland. Every time he breathed, long ribbons of white mist streamed from his mouth and nose. When dawn came, Levi slowly opened his eyes, thrilled to find that he'd jumped from Energy Refining Level 7 all the way to Level 10. He was just one step away from Foundation Establishment! "Guess it's true what they say: sharpening your axe won't slow down your chopping. Spending more than two years using the secret method to temper my body was totally worth it! Just one hundred-year-old herb boosted my cultivation this much!" Levi was over the moon-he'd finally built up enough, and now it was time for his big breakthrough. "Mom, Dad, and Mila are probably waking up about now." Levi checked the time and was just about to head out when he heard someone call out from behind him. "Levi? What are you doing here? Do you even belong in a place like this?" Levi recognized the voice and turned to see a young woman in the latest green Gucci dress, a ruby necklace around her neck, looking at him with a mix of confusion and disgust. "Athena." Levi was a little surprised. He hadn't expected to run into his ex-girlfriend here. Three years ago, they broke up after Athena Farrell told him she'd fallen for someone else. Levi had accepted it calmly-he'd known for a while that Athena was materialistic, and they were never going to last. When she suggested breaking up, Levi didn't argue or even ask who the other guy was-he just turned around and left. He never thought he'd see her again, and now Athena's holier-than-thou attitude just seemed ridiculous. "Did you hear me? What are you doing here? If I remember right, you're supposed to be in prison, aren't you?" Athena pressed when Levi didn't answer. "How do you know I was in prison? We broke up, didn't we? Why would you even care what happens to me?" Levi was confused. He wasn't dumb enough to think Athena still had feelings for him-money was all she ever cared about. Sure enough, Athena gave him a mocking smirk. "Ha, like I'd ever care about a broke loser like you, but..." Before she could finish, she spotted someone in the distance and waved. "Honey, over here! Look who I just ran into!" She walked off toward the other guy, totally ignoring Levi. As soon as Levi saw who it was, his eyes went cold. Athena's 'honey' was none other than Stanley Halenkamp, the rich jerk who'd tried to assault Levi's sister while drunk three years ago! Stanley recognized Levi right away. "Huh? How'd this loser end up here? You're out of prison? No way." Stanley looked totally confused. Back when Levi got locked up, Stanley used his money to get him sent to Ninos Prison-a living hell. It's the toughest prison in all of Chiton, SSS-level, packed with the worst criminals out there! Stanley figured there was no way a guy like Levi could make it out of there alive. But now, here Levi was, out early and looking just fine. "Bet you're disappointed, huh?" Levi sneered. "Why would I be disappointed? It's perfect you're out-I can deal with you myself! Those cops who arrested you were protecting you, get it?" "If you'd landed in my hands, you'd have been begging for death!" "Getting beat up by you was the most humiliating thing that ever happened to me!" Stanley snapped, still pissed about what happened three years ago. "Honey, don't get mad over this trash-he's not worth it. You should do what your grandpa asked first; you can deal with him later," Athena said, seeing Stanley about to lose it. Stanley took a breath and nodded. "You're right-Mr. Webberlye will be in Floriaville soon. Now's not the time to make a scene. Consider yourself lucky, punk!" Little did he know, he'd just dodged a bullet. "Lucky? That's a joke! Listen up, Stanley-three years ago you almost ruined my life. Now it's your turn to feel what that's like!" Levi said coldly. "Ha! You? With what? Even your precious woman is mine now and she's amazing!" Stanley laughed, yanking Athena close and shamelessly feeling her up right in front of Levi. Athena didn't resist-she just smiled coyly, lightly pressing Stanley's hand. "Stop, not here." Stanley laughed even harder, thinking he'd really gotten to Levi. But Levi was long over Athena. Any woman who dumped him for money wasn't worth his time. Seeing that Levi didn't react, Stanley bragged, "Do you even know where you are? This is Cloude Villa, the fanciest neighborhood in Floriaville! You could work your whole life and not afford even ten square meters here!" "And me? I'm Stanley Halenkamp, heir to the Halenkamp family-one of the four big families in Floriaville. Buying a place here is nothing for me. I could buy the whole neighborhood if I wanted!" "Oh, and Athena said you're not much of a man in bed, but me-I live up to my name! What do you have that can even compare to me? Who do you think you are?" Athena snuggled up to Stanley and chimed in, "Yeah, babe, you're the best!" Stanley laughed even more arrogantly. Levi stayed silent, just watching the two show off-then, all of a sudden, he got an idea. Quietly, he sent a bit of spiritual energy toward Stanley. Stanley suddenly felt a chill down below, but didn't think much of it. Levi smiled to himself. "It won't be long before I take away everything you care about."
