"Be my lackey."
Pierce stood above, his domineering aura on full display.
Over the past three years, he had both saved lives and taken them. Having nearly reached legendary heights in his cultivation of medicine and martial arts, his demeanor had undergone a complete transformation over those three years.
When he discovered his family's ruin, his heart turned cold as stone.
He needed loyal people to protect his family.
Nino just barely met the standard.
"Yes, Mr. Pierce," Nino said, dropping to his knees in thanks.
After leaving the Serpent Gang, Pierce flagged down a car to Sea Horizon Residence, the most famous upscale neighborhood in Sea Horizon, where Estella lived.
He rang the doorbell, but no one answered.
After waiting for almost half an hour, Pierce gave up and left.
"Help! Someone passed out! Is anyone here?"
As he walked along the Chanse River, he heard someone shouting for help. His instinct as a healer kicked in, and he rushed over to find an elderly man who had collapsed.
"Quick, call an ambulance. I'll get my car," said a young woman nearby, relieved to see Pierce rushing over to help.
"We can't take him to the hospital," Pierce said after just a glance, kneeling and taking the old man's wrist while lifting his eyelid with his other hand, his brows furrowing.
"Why not?" Kailey Hill asked, confused.
"Because he won't last five minutes."
"Are you cursing my grandpa? It's just high blood pressure. How could it be this serious?" Kailey's face turned pale, her anger rising.
"Just stand over there and don't get in my way while I treat him."
Ignoring Kailey's rage, Pierce took off the silver ring from his finger and, with a swift pull, it magically transformed into a silver needle nearly three feet long.
Kailey was stunned.
The needle plunged into the old man's chest, nearly three feet deep.
Kailey felt her own heart clench. Was this guy even a real doctor?
After inserting the needle, Pierce pulled out a small knife from his pocket and cut open the old man's thumb, thick, dark blood oozing out right away.
"What are you doing? Why are you hurting my grandpa? Stop it!" Kailey tried to intervene, shocked that none of their family doctors or hospital specialists had ever treated anyone like this.
She was convinced he was an enemy sent to harm her grandfather.
"If you don't want your grandfather to die, stay quiet!"
Pierce pushed Kailey away with a fierce glare. He hated nothing more than being interrupted while trying to save someone.
"You..."
Kailey was furious but fell silent under Pierce's icy, predatory gaze.
After cutting open all ten of the old man's fingers, Pierce kept going, squeezing out more of the dark blood.
In just three minutes, the ground was quickly stained bright red, and the old man's complexion slowly returned as his breathing evened out.
"My grandpa, he..." Kailey moved closer again, concerned for her grandfather's life.
Though her grandfather seemed better, he still hadn't woken up.
"Silence!" Pierce snapped, and Kailey pouted in frustration, mumbling under her breath.
Pierce ignored her, crouching down as he gently twisted the silver needle, his ear pressed to the old man's chest.
Suddenly, he shouted, "Get up!", yanking out the needle.
"Did I have an episode?" The old man opened his eyes, his voice weak but clear.
"Sir, you need to cut back on the greasy food. If you keep this up, your blood vessels will burst," Pierce warned, unfazed, as he wiped the needle clean, transforming it back into a ring on his finger.
Kailey was dumbstruck.
"Young man, thank you for saving my life," Patrick Hill said as he slowly sat up, looking Pierce over with a smile.
"What's your name?"
"Pierce Jackson," he replied.
"Don't mention it, just doing what I had to. I've got things to take care of, so I'll be off."
Without waiting for further conversation, Pierce left, eager to confront Estella. If she weren't home, he'd find her at the hospital.
"Pierce Jackson... That's a good name," Patrick muttered to himself, standing up with Kailey's help.
"Kailey, I want all his information before dinner. We must repay this life-saving kindness."
"Okay," Kailey replied, pulling herself together.
"Let's head back," Patrick said, and they slowly made their way back to the villa beside Sea Horizon.
...
Pierce finally flagged down a cab, about to head to the hospital, when his mother called.
"Hello, Mom, what's up? No need to wait for me for lunch." Assuming she was calling him home for lunch, as it was nearing noon.
"Pierce, are you free right now?"
Elena's voice was frantic. "I'm dropping off lunch to your dad, but if you're close by, can you get to the kindergarten? Dallas got into a fight. It sounds pretty serious. The teacher wants a parent there ASAP, but I can't make it."
"A fight?" Pierce frowned, thinking disputes among kindergarten kids were normal.
But considering Dallas's health, he agreed.
"Mom, don't worry. I'm not far from Dallas's school. I'll head over now and call you once it's resolved."
Pierce hung up and told the driver to head to Mariglade Kindergarten instead.
The principal's office at Mariglade Kindergarten was a mess. Everyone was shouting, and the tension was thick in the air.
"Where's this little bastard's parents? How dare he hit my son? Is he looking to die?" Gideon roared, jabbing a finger at Dallas, who was huddled in his teacher Lilith's arms.
Dallas had a bright red slap mark on his cheek, tears of frustration streaming down his face.
"I didn't hit him. He tried to take my toy, and when I wouldn't let him, he just fell on himself," Dallas insisted, stubbornly defending himself.
Gideon was shocked at Dallas's defiance.
"You little bastard, pretty tough, huh? You want me to teach you a lesson? My son took your toy because he likes it. You should be grateful!"
"Mr. Gideon, please watch your language!" Lilith snapped, her face dark.
As their teacher, she knew these kids. Dallas was always sweet and considerate, never the type to start a fight.
In contrast, Gideon's son relied on his family's power, causing trouble from day one, even kissing other female classmates.
"Ms. Lilith, get your facts straight. My son's head is bruised!" Gideon narrowed his eyes at Lilith, his threat implicit.
"Yes, Ms. Lilith, are you blind? Dallas is a troublemaker. What's wrong with sharing toys among classmates? Why push him?"
The principal sided with Gideon, intimidated by his wealth and notoriety as a thug, while Dallas came from an ordinary family.
"Principal, you..." Lilith was fuming inside. How could people like this be in charge of a kindergarten?
"Enough. Just call the parents and tell them to hurry up. This little bastard's family better pay up. If they don't pay two thousand, this isn't over," the principal said, taking Gideon's side.
Gideon pointed at Dallas, even more smug now. "And expel this little bastard, too!"
"Who are you calling a little bastard?"
