Chapter 27: The Governor's Secretary

"Stop!" A thunderous shout split the room. A middle-aged man stormed in from the hall, face dark with fury. He was Maggie's father and Amelia's uncle, Leonard Looske. He'd come late because, downstairs, he'd spotted one of Hendrix's secretaries. He'd brazenly gone over to say hello, trying to curry favor. He walked in just in time to see Amelia striking Maggie.
