"Not bad. To take the first sword of my Nine Absolute Swords head-on-that's already impressive."
Jaden Waller sat back down as he spoke.
Nier muttered under his breath, "You hear yourself? Does that even sound like something a human would say?"
Phantom lowered his head, crossed his legs, and began circulating his energy to heal, but inside he was shaken to the core. A strike that fierce and overwhelming was actually the weakest move in the Young Master's repertoire. Who on earth could withstand the strongest one?
At that moment, Phantom's respect for Jaden flooded through him, relentless as a rising tide.
"I overstepped," he said as he continued healing. "Please forgive me, Young Master."
"It's fine." Jaden waved it off. "I know you're a sword fanatic. You love sparring. That strike just now should help you."
Phantom bowed. "Thank you, Young Master."
He had indeed gained a great deal-his grasp of the sword's true intent stepped up a level.
"Now you see how terrifying the Young Master is, huh?" Nier scoffed. "Next time you pull that stunt again, I'm not bailing you out."
Phantom rolled his eyes. "I didn't ask you."
"Whatever. Guess I was being nosy," Nier grumbled.
"Enough. Get some rest," Jaden said to the two of them.
"Yes, Young Master!"
"All of you, come in," Nier barked.
A second later, dozens of stunning women strode in on long legs. Every one of them was a top-tier beauty, dressed in maid outfits over black stockings.
"Young Master, I handpicked twenty maids to take care of your daily needs," Nier said. "And fifty Filipino housekeepers to clean your rooms. Tonight, serve the Young Master well!"
Jaden Waller stared in silence.
"That won't be necessary. When I rest, I don't like being disturbed."
He waved a hand, rose, and left. He took the elevator to the top floor of Goldia Mansion.
The top floor housed a luxurious presidential suite, over a thousand square meters, overlooking all of Jenos.
Jaden stood by the window and looked toward the headquarters of the Four Great Families-four towers spearing into the sky.
Back then, the Four Great Families had nothing like today's splendor. The reason they reigned over Jenos was simple: the Waller family had laid foundations across every industry too deep to shake. After they seized and consolidated those assets, they could enjoy the fruits without lifting a finger. No painstaking management required.
"The Farrell family, the Lyson family, the Munger family, the Shadboult family." His expression stayed calm as he gazed out the window. "It's time to settle the old accounts."
Meanwhile, at the Lyson family estate, inside Louie Lyson's room-
"What? You're saying Finnegan Farrell is dead?" Louie frowned in disbelief.
"Yes, Young Master. It's already all over the news-no mistake. The body was found inside the Darion Group. He died miserably, neck snapped outright. By the time the Enforcement Team arrived, the corpse had already started to rot."
"What a piece of trash. Just like his brother-trash. Couldn't even deal with a mangy stray." Crash! Louie slammed a teacup to the floor.
"There was another body at the scene-Mateo, one of the Farrell family's four retainers," the butler continued.
"He couldn't possibly kill a War God Level Martial Artist. Unless the punk had someone backing him. No wonder he dared to show himself in Jenos without restraint. So he found a patron, huh? But if he thinks that means he can go toe-to-toe with the Four Great Families, that's idiocy. Laughable," Louie sneered, brimming with disdain.
"The Enforcement Team released Darion Group's internal surveillance footage to the news," the butler said. "No one else was involved-only Jaden Waller. The one who killed Mateo was Jaden himself. And the method was terrifying. From the footage, he did it in a single move."
Louie's eyes went wide as he stared at the butler. "George, you're sure?!"
"Absolutely."
"The Enforcement Team has already issued a warrant," George added. "Jaden Waller is wanted citywide. The Farrell family also pressured them to solve the case fast. But the Farrells won't rely solely on the Enforcement Team-they'll move."
Louie's expression tightened as he sank into thought. In just five short years, where did Jaden Waller learn skills like that-enough to kill a War God Level Martial Artist?
"Young Master, should we report this to the Patriarch?" George asked.
"I'll report it myself." Louie spoke and strode out the door.
"Father, I don't know where Jaden Waller picked up his abilities, but he actually killed one of the Farrell family's retainers," Louie said. "We can't let this grow unchecked, or the consequences will be dire. We need to eliminate him early."
"He killed a War God Level Martial Artist. The boy does warrant our attention," said Hudson Lyson, the Lyson family's second elder.
"Big Brother, want me to find people to take him out tonight?" Hudson's gaze slid to Zayden Lyson, cold and heavy. "No matter how good his martial arts are, he can't stop bullets."
"I said it already. Before my sixtieth birthday banquet, I don't want bloodshed, and I don't want any accidents," Zayden said, face unreadable. "We will discuss this after my celebration is over."
"Besides, that old ghost from the Farrell family only has two sons. Now one is crippled and one is dead, both thanks to Jaden Waller. I don't believe he'll sit still. Let the Farrells handle it."
Hudson nodded. "Understood."
"Louie, you're the one who sent Eugene Duffus to find the Farrells' second son, aren't you?" Zayden suddenly looked at Louie. "You're indirectly responsible for Finnegan Farrell's death. Once this is resolved, bring gifts and go apologize to the Farrell family."
"Understood, Father," Louie nodded quickly. He hadn't expected his father to already know he had been the one behind instructing Eugene Duffus.
"Next time you act recklessly, you know the consequences," Zayden warned.
"I was wrong," Louie said, head bowed.
"All of you, go rest. There must be no mistakes at tomorrow's banquet. Be sharp-many big figures will be there."
