"Dad, what Second Uncle said actually makes a lot of sense!"
Emilio Farrell nodded hard. This time, Jaden Waller had obviously returned for Melina Shadboult. It could not be to take revenge on the Four Great Families. Take them on alone? What a joke. So if they grabbed Melina, they could squeeze Jaden with ease.
"Jaylen, what do you think we should do?" Keenan Farrell asked his younger brother.
"Do not clash with him head-on for now," Jaylen Farrell said. "Leave the next steps to me. I will make sure he understands what happens when you cross the Farrell family."
On the other side, Jaden and Melina walked out of Darion Group and took a cab straight to the East Coast Grand Hotel.
After they got out, Melina stared at the restaurant sign, puzzled. "Jaden, isn't this the Farrells' turf? You just killed Finnegan Farrell, and we're going to their hotel for dinner. Is that really a good idea?"
Everyone in Jenos knew the East Coast Grand Hotel was a Farrell property. There was no way Jaden did not know. He came here on purpose to slap the Farrell family in the face. Five years ago, this hotel had not belonged to the Farrells at all. It had belonged to the Waller family.
"A business that opens its doors cannot refuse paying customers," Jaden said with a smile.
"But won't this completely enrage the Farrells?" Melina asked, worry tightening her voice.
The Farrell family held real power in Jenos. Jaden was only one man. Two fists could not beat four hands. She truly feared for his safety.
"I already killed Finnegan Farrell," Jaden said. "From here on out, it is to the death between me and the Farrells. So what if I enrage them?"
"But…" She fumbled for words. "I'm scared…"
She really did not want to see Jaden come to harm again.
"Don't be." Jaden reached out and gently rubbed her head to soothe her. "Come on. Let's go eat. Candlelight dinner tonight."
They strolled in bold as brass. The staff recognized Melina at a glance and reported it up the chain.
Hotel operations were mainly managed by Emilio Farrell. When he heard Jaden had gone to their hotel to eat, he hurled his phone in a rage.
"Fuck! He's gone too far!"
He stormed off to find his father. "Dad! Jaden is outrageous! He just killed my second brother, and he dares to come to our hotel to eat, a candlelight dinner no less. He's doing it on purpose! We took this hotel from the Waller family back then. He is absolutely doing it deliberately, trying to warn us."
"This is intolerable! Dad, don't stop me. I'll send men to kill him!" Emilio roared.
"No." Keenan shook his head. "Let your Second Uncle handle this. You stay out of it."
He had already lost one son. He could not lose another. The Farrell line could not end with him. The family's vast holdings still needed an heir. Although his eldest had lost a leg, at least below the waist he was fine. He could still carry on the line.
"Dad-"
"Enough." Keenan cut him off. "I'll have people keep eyes on him and see what trick he is playing."
Meanwhile, at the East Coast Grand Hotel, Melina could not settle. She kept glancing around the dining room.
"Huh? No one's come to mess with us. That's… odd." She sounded incredulous.
By rights, the Farrells should have made a move already. After being slapped like this, they were not the sort to swallow their anger and sit on their hands.
"Could you get your manager?" Jaden said to a nearby server.
"Of course."
The manager arrived quickly. "How can I help you?" he asked, frowning.
"I'm dining here. The Farrells should know by now," Jaden said. "Why is there still no movement? Where are their enforcers? Have them come out and show their faces."
"Sir, you must be joking," the manager replied with a practiced smile. "We are a legitimate business. How could we possibly have enforcers?"
"Those guys upstairs watching me. Are you sure they're here to eat?" Jaden suddenly tilted his head and looked up at the second floor.
On the mezzanine, a head jerked back at once. The man's heart nearly leaped out of his throat. "Boss, we were hidden so well. How did he spot us? It's like seeing a ghost!"
"I don't like being watched while I eat," Jaden said coldly. "Do it again and I'll smash your hotel."
The manager nodded again and again, swallowing his anger. In all these years, when had he ever eaten this kind of humiliation? In the old days, anyone who dared make trouble in a Farrell hotel would have been beaten half-paralyzed and tossed out. But now he could only grit his teeth and endure it, because the family head had just called with orders. No matter what Jaden did, they were not to act rashly, and they absolutely were not to confront him head-on.
