Chapter 6 The highway out of Seattle was a nightmare. Cars abandoned everywhere. People running. And the infected—so many infected. They stumbled through traffic, grabbing at anyone who moved too slowly. I saw a man pull a woman from her car. Saw a child standing alone, crying for parents who weren't coming back. Saw the military setting up a roadblock ahead. I took a side road, following the route Mom and I had practiced. The long way, but safer. My phone buzzed. I'd turned it back on...
