Two pink lines. I was pregnant again, for the sixth time.
After five failed pregnancies, with each baby coming out as still born, I managed to get pregnant again. Seeing the positive test results made my heart leap with joy. My first thought was to share the news with my mate and husband, Alaric.
I bolted out of our bedroom and made my way to the main pack building were Alaric’s office resided. During all my failed pregnancies Alaric didn’t fail to make sure I was comfortable and well fed. He showered me with so much love and never gave up on me despite my weak constitution.
I was a weak omega, weaker than every single omega in the pack.
But that didn’t stop our love. Alaric saw me for who I was and not some weak omega. He even prepared a separate building for me away from the main pack house, just to ensure I was comfortable. My heart fluttered as I imagined the joy that would cross his features at the sound of my new pregnancy.
I hummed happily as I made my way down the hallway. Before I could go any further, I was intercepted by three maids, each having a look of disdain writing across their faces. I stopped dead in my tracks, frowning. I was very familiar with them. These were the girls that often bullied me here. Ever since I moved to a separate building, I never bumped into them, which set me at ease.
Seeing them as such a crucial time for me was the last thing I wanted.
“What a wonderful reunion,” one of them blurted out with a smirk on her lips.
“The weak omega that thinks she can sleep her way into becoming the Luna of this pack.”
All three of them burst into a fit of laughter and I stood there, unable to meet their gaze.
“P-Please I don’t have time for this, I have something important to do,” I said, my voice trembling slightly.
“What? What could a whore possibly need to do? Did alpha Alaric need you to come open your legs for him again?”
The whole hallway echoed with their laughter and it began to ignite anger inside of me. I snapped my eyes to them, shooting daggers at them.
“What do you know about me and my mate? We’re in love and you all are just jealous because you’ll never be able to become the Luna of this pack, or any pack!”
One of the maids scoffed and shoved me back. I came tumbling backwards, my bum hitting the hard wooden floor. The three maids hovered over me, a glare in their eyes as they looked down on me.
“You are just as stupid as we thought. You? The Luna? Don’t make me laugh. Have you ever thought to think about why you have a separate building to yourself, and why you aren’t allowed in the main building? Do you think alpha Alaric has ever announced you as his Luna?”
My heart dropped at her words, but I shook my head. “What are you talking about?”
They all rolled their eyes. “He doesn’t want to make you the Luna, he never will! He doesn’t even love you!”
In a fit of rage, I charged at them, grabbing one by the hair. Her cries of pain rang in the air and a hand connected to my cheek. The pain rang through my skin, growing hotter by each second. I was overpowered in a blink of an eye. My hair was pulled, slaps rained across my face till it burned.
It felt like years had passed until they finally let me go. Groaning I picked myself up from the floor. I had curled into a foetal position to protect the baby from the onslaught of assault. I sighed, rubbing my belly as their words rang in my mind. There was no way any of that was true. Alaric loved me and I loved him too. They were just jealous of that.
I ran down the hallway and up the stairs, eager to meet my mate. The thought of sharing the news with him somehow made all the pain go away. My eyes carefully searched for his office door until I found it. My face lit up with joy once my hand fell on the door knob.
“Are you out of your mind?! How could you do such a thing to Serena!”
At the sound of my name, I paused my hands slowly drifting away from the doorknob.
“Caius, you are my right hand man and best friend, but that does not mean you can talk to me that way,” Alaric hissed.
“I don’t give a damn! How could you use Serena’s babies for your unethical experiments? Moreover, you are the one who caused them to be stillborn!”
