Chapter 4 New Sets

Words : 1101 Updated : May 7th, 2025
“Ahh… Sunlight feels so good.” (Master, you were in that dungeon for only 3 hours and 46 minutes.) “You don’t know how many days it has been since I left my house.” (Average human leaves their home every day unless they are sick. Master does not seem sick, nor does he seem to be recovering from a sickness.) “Well, humans in this world and my old world are different. But you are correct. I did leave my house. I had to pick up that booster box after all.” (What is a ‘booster box’, Master?) “It’s a box that contains 24 packs of Yu-Gi-Ohioh cards.” (Information received.) I looked at Uraby, who was waiting by the entrance. He does look a little worse for wear, like his card. He only had one large wound on him, and that was a wooden spear stuck in his left leg. As I approach him, he lowers his head for me. I give him a little pat. “You did a great job. I’ll remove this spear from your leg now.” Uraby looks at me with understanding and nods his head. These monsters are super smart, even if some of them can’t talk. It’s going to be a little challenging to pull a spear while holding a card in each hand, but I can manage. I pull the wooden spear out of his leg and notice it has a sharp stone on its tip. I think most of the spears in the dungeon were just pointed sticks with no stone or whatever, so maybe a higher-class goblin or kobold used this, and that is why it got stuck in his leg, unlike all the other spears. Thankfully, the spear wasn’t de, so the wound isn’t bleeding much. “Again, great job, Uraby. You can go back now.” As I say that, a card appears under Urab, and Uraby returns to it. Then his card in my hand vanishes. Are all these cards only single-use? I think that the mission screen pops up again. Mission: Escape the dungeon Mission Completed Packs ‘Metal Raiders’ and ‘Magic Ruler’ Unlocked The daily pack token number increased by 1 total is now 2 Due to the daily pack token number increasing, you have gained 1 ‘Pack token’ Congratulations So mission complete and good things all around. That’s nice. “I guess I should open some packs then.” (Master, I recommend securing some food while ‘Kagemusha of the Blue Flame’ is still active. Otherwise, the Master will have to do it alone.) “Ye, ah, you are right. Kage, do you know about things like edible plants and stuff?” “Yes, Master, but it might not apply to plants in this area. Might I suggest a hunt for a beast?” “I don’t think we should make a fire or anything, so we can’t exactly cook meat. By the way, are goblins or kobolds edible? We left hundreds of them in that dungeon.” (Goblins are not edible, but kobolds are. I do not recommend Master eat kobolds because they taste horrible.) “So no to already hunted meat. System, do you know how far the nearest town or city is?” (Map information is limited to what we have seen. No location of town available.) “Well, that is a little bit of a problem. Kage, can you climb a tree and tell me what you can see?” “Of course, Master.” Kagemusha makes climbing a tree look easy. I mean, he did it in 3 jumps and is now at the top of the tree, looking around. “System support, what time is it?” (It’s a little past noon, Master.) “And how long will Kagemusha stay summoned?” (Two hours in total. He has been summoned for an hour and 17 minutes now.) “So it took us a little over an hour to get out of the dungeon. Good to know. Can I extend the time Kage stays summoned?” (Technique is not currently in the database. Master might have to level up to learn it.) “Oh yeah, I do wonder if I get any exp for things that Uraby and Sparks killed. Status.” Name: Brian Wood Race: Human? Level: 3 HP: 120 Mana: 120 Strength: 60 Defense: 110 Magic: 60 Skills: Pack Opener (unique) Language comprehension (humanoid) Nice! I both leveled up and got a new skill. I think I know what it does, but better to ask the system anyway. “System support, I got a new skill called ‘Language comprehension’. Can you tell me what it does?” (It allows Master to understand the spoken language of all sufficiently intelligent humanoid creatures. It does not allow understanding of monster speech.) “Does that include written stuff?” (Since Master can read, Master should be able to read the language of this world. Also, if Master can not, I can read for Master.) “I love you! You are so useful.” (Thank you, Master.) The system's answer was in a quieter voice than usual. Think the system would be blushing if it could. That is very cute. With a thud, Kagemusha jumped down from the tree. Hopefully, he spotted something so that we don’t have to start searching at random. “Master, I have spotted what appears to be a road on a plain. I didn’t see any kind of settlement, but we are in a forested area, so vision is limited. I recommend heading over to the road and following it. If it’s not a road trip, that plane will also give better vision.” “Yeah, let’s do that. But first, some berries. Or something else to snack on. I guess we can search for those while making our way to the road. What way is the road at?” “That direction, Master.” Kagemusha points to the front left of the dungeon entrance. I guess nothing more to it than walking. Summon something you say. Yeah, not in this forest. I don’t think my panda or bird could easily make it through this forest. It’s not like a super thick jungle, but there are enough trees to be a problem for a larger monster to make its way through. “Kage, you keep me safe, system keep your eyes (do you even have eyes) on edible fruits and berries. “Ye,s Master.” (Y, yes, Master.) And here I was wanting to open some of the new sets I unlocked. And I’m being blocked by myself and my obsession with moving forward. I mean, camping with no equipment doesn’t sound too fun, now does it?
