"Girl, I am not so heartless as to lock up my savior in a dungeon. You are always free to air your views. And stop calling me Grandfather Fu, call me Grandfather." Old Mr. Fu said to her with a kind smile.
"I can call you Grandfather?" Jia Li asked with raised brows.
"Yes. And don't mind what I said earlier, you are pretty." Grandfather replied.
Jia Li smiled sheepishly as she said a word of thanks to him.
Grandfather Fu smiled as well before further asking to know her level of education, and it turned out Jia Li was in her second year in college.
She was currently studying fashion and design.
"That's a good course, and it's a little expensive." Grandfather Fu commented. There was a hidden concern in his tone.
Jia Li heaved a sigh as she became sad. "Yes, it is a good course, but it is very expensive."
Grandfather Fu saw she was sad and guessed her parents might be struggling to pay her fees even if she wasn't attending a good college.
Would you like to marry n??." Grandfather Fu asked her all of a sudden, at the same time, changing the topic.
Jia Li almost choked on her saliva. She glanced at the Old man with shock on her face.
Grandfather Fu still had his gaze on her, meaning he was still waiting to hear a response from her.
Jia Li could feel her cheeks heating up, so she covered them with her hands.
"I have never thought about that." Jia Li replied before standing to her feet and walking towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Grandfather Fu asked with a kind smile on his face.
Jia Li heaved a sigh before turning to face him.
"Grandfather, you tease me a lot. Well, I'm a bit thirsty, so I'm going to look for water."
"There is water over there." Grandfather Fu replied as he pointed at the flask.
"It belongs to you." Jia Li replied before turning to walk out of the room.
She was feeling so hot to stay with Grandfather Fu. She was wondering if she had offended him in any way, for him to get back at her by teasing her.
Just as she released the door handle and looked up, she saw an entourage closely approaching her. Some of them were in army uniforms, so she hurriedly rushed back inside the room.
She wanted to bolt the door, but she couldn't find one.
Seeing he,r she come inside hurriedly, Grandfather Fu was worried as he asked, "Girl, why do you look scarred? D, it's somebody chasing after you?"
Jia Li finally gave up on finding the bolt and turned to reply to the old man.
"Grandfather, some people in army uniforms are here."
"Oh! They are here, so fast." Grandfather Fu said as his facial expression changed to that of indifference.
He didn't look surprised at all. He looked as if he was expecting them.
Jia Li was surprised by the look of indifference on his face. But one thing she was sure of was that the Old Man was expecting them, so she asked, "Grandfather, who are the?."
"You will see." Grandfather Fu replied, and just then, three knocks came on the door, and Jia Li quickly shifted away from the door.
The knock was heavy but wasn't too loud.
"Father, it's Fu Lei." A mature male voice said from outside the door.
Jia Li and Grandfather Fu exchanged glances.
"That's my son. Come and sit beside me." Grandfather Fu whispered to her, and Jia Li quickly went to sit beside him, in her initial position.
"Father, I'm coming in," Fu Lei said after he knocked for the second time, but he was interrupted by Grandfather Fu's voice.
"Come in!" Grandfather Fu replied in a commanding tone.
With his approval, the entourage Jia Li was talking about walked in.
The man who walked in first was a middle-aged man in an army uniform, and he shared similar features with the old man.
Amongst the men in army uniforms, only two were dressed in an English style, nd they were the youngest.
The other three men who immediately followed behind Fu Lei were in army uniform.
The men in uniform offered a military salute, while the young men in English-style offered a bow.
Jia Li could feel a restriction in her airflow as the aura of the men thwacked in, weak for a mere girl like her who grew up in the countryside.
"What is the meaning of all these taunts you are pulling?." Gra? Father Fu asked. He didn't look happy to see them.
"We will wait outside." The three men said to Fu Lei in a low tone after exchanging glances. And with that, they saluted the Old Man before leaving the room.
Jia Li could see that only three men remained in the room, but she didn't dare to look at them.
At this point, Jia Li stood up from the seat and offered it to Fu Lei, but he waved his hand, rejecting her offer, so she sat back down on the seat with an awkward expression on her face.
"Father, we came to bring you back." Fu Lei said, going straight to the point.
"Hmmm ????. Who is that girl?" Yingpei whispered to Fu Hua with his gaze on Jia Li.
"Why don't you ask her?." Fu Hua whispered back to him.
Yingpei looked annoyed at his Older brother's reply, but he couldn't blame him. It was his fault for asking a stupid question.
Fu Hua didn't spare Jia Li a glance, as his gaze remained on his grandfather.
"Did you ask how I'm doing, and if I was recovering properly? You just went straight to telling me you came to take me back. You are so unfilial." The Old Man said in an annoyed tone as he glared at his son.
Fu Lei sighed before going ahead to ask how his Old Man was doing.
"You tell me, how do you think I'm doing?." The Old Man retorted.
