chapter 2 The Crown Princess whose engagement was broken off (2)

by Evelyn 20:15,Sep 19,2023
After Tom Gu and his fellow students parted ways, he hurriedly arrived at the Wangshan Villa. This was a garden given to the Eldest Princess in the present day, and last year, she had gifted it to her daughter on Lilith Jin's birthday.

"Ah!" Tom Gu pulled the reins, gracefully dismounted, and handed the reins to the guard at the gate. His personal guard, Ping Gu, quickly approached and whispered, "Young Master, the young lady is already awake. Lucy says her mood seems quite good today."

Tom Gu paused in his steps, showing no surprise on his face but with a hint of displeasure in his eyes. Did he not understand Lilith's temperament? This girl had never suffered any grievances since childhood. How could she not feel wronged and angry when the Crown Prince publicly announced the intention to break off the engagement? She felt wronged and angry, but she pretended as if nothing had happened, just to prevent those who cared about her from worrying.

The younger sister he had protected since childhood had grown up after all, but he didn't like this approach. Even if that person holds the position of the crown prince, so what? If he betrays his promises, he should pay the price!

Tom Gu arrived at the entrance of the inner courtyard. The maids and servants who were busy with their work all stopped to greet him before continuing with their tasks. Ping Gu held his cloak outside, and Tom Gu walked in on his own.

As he approached, he heard the voices of four maids chatting as they served the Young Lady her morning meal. Tom Gu couldn't help but shake his head and smile. This girl never ate properly.

Thinking of the Crown Prince, the smile on his face faded slightly. In the end, it was the Crown Prince's fault.

His footsteps caught the attention of those inside, and the curtain at the door was quickly lifted. When they saw him, several maids clearly showed a "we're saved" expression.

Lilith Jin also glanced at the entrance. She saw her "brother," just as she remembered him. Noble and gentle like jade.

"Why are you looking at your brother like that? Do you think your brother didn't beat the Crown Prince on the spot to avenge you and make your brother angry?" Tom Gu deliberately asked.

Lilith Jin shook her head. She knew where she was. This was a feudal dynasty, where royal authority was paramount. Even if the Prime Minister's residence was angry, they couldn't directly confront the royal family; that would be tantamount to a dead end.

She only saw a shadow of her old self in Tom Gu. After the apocalypse, when Earth's resources rapidly depleted, humanity faced its greatest survival and continuity challenge. In such a world, her father had created a safe and comfortable ivory tower for her.

Her father had many young talents under him, usually reserved and silent, like finely tuned machines. But when they saw her, they would all show the same doting and caring smiles as Tom Gu did now.

She missed her father and those brothers.

Seeing Lilith Jin remain silent, Tom Gu sighed silently. He sat down next to Lilith Jin, lovingly tousled her hair, and said gently, "Brother knows you've been wronged. Brother promises you that no matter how the Crown Prince mistreats you, in the future, I will make him pay back tenfold, a hundredfold. Is that okay?"

Lilith Jin blinked, her voice a bit hoarse, "Really?"

Tom Gu pinched Lilith Jin's nose playfully and pretended to be unhappy, "When has your brother ever broken his word to you?"

Lilith Jin immediately reached out and hooked her pinky finger with Tom Gu's, "In the past, you didn't, but in the future, who knows? After all, he is the Crown Prince..."

A stern and icy voice suddenly sounded from outside the door. "If our Lilith doesn't like it, then he is not the Crown Prince!"
