Someone had forgotten to shut the faucet in the kitchen sink all the way. Continuous dripping could be heard throughout the small space, echoing to every crack and crevice. The air in the room was constraining, smothering. Each time Brielle sucked in her breath, she could taste the saltiness from the beads of sweat that had rolled down to her lips. The temperature wasn't humid. Nothing like that. But to be trapped, to feel trapped, had its toll on a person.
