Chapter 5: Jealousy

Lexus stood by the window and looked down on the city below with narrowed eyes. He may look serene and harmless, but unfortunately, he’s not. There was no doubt that Lexus was like an immortal who descended from the heavens to grace the world with his very presence. Only this man gave off a chilling and dangerous feeling, making people freeze in place and hold their breaths before they could even get closer to him. Together with him was Assistant Yu, who shivered as the room’s temperature seemed like it was winter, but there was glistening sweat forming on his face and trickling down his back. ’Why is it that this King Yama is more dangerous than ever before? Isn’t he supposed to at least be less cold-hearted than he is starting to get interested in the opposite sex?’ Assistant Yu thought as he wiped his cold sweat off his face. His boss’s temperament wasn’t normal. Not normal! Lexus tilted his head slightly with his piercing gaze that can cut even diamonds while contemplating how to slowly catch his prey. He then remembered how that woman went from being stone-faced to being bashful and finally to being angry. Thinking of these, his eyes danced with excitement, and the room temperature dropped almost to the freezing point. Assistant Yu was at his wits' end. He wondered if his boss being attracted to a woman is a good thing or not. Lexus didn’t know that he was torturing his assistant with his very chilling presence. Regardless, even if he knew, he’ll still act as if nothing happened. After thinking of what he’ll do, he pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number to call. After a few rings, it finally connected. "Hello." A cold female voice sounded on the other end. The coldness of her voice is on the same degree as Lexus’. "Mom." He called as he turned to walk toward the couch to sit. He leaned comfortably and inclined his arm over the couch and crossed his legs. "What?" She curtly asked. Lexus didn’t say anything and just decided to end the call. He thought that they’ll pester him if they knew what he was going to do. Still relaxing on the couch, he turned to his assistant to ask, "Where does she live?" "At the Apartment XX, third floor." Assistant Yu answered as he scrolled on his tablet with the information he got regarding October. "Never heard of that. How old is she?" He said, folding his arms over his chest, making his muscles flex and more prominent. Right now, he is less cold, making Assistant Yu sigh in relief. "26 years old." "...relationship?" After asking that, the atmosphere he released was devastatingly cold and dangerous, making Assistant Yu gulp loudly. "None at the moment..." He warily looked at him. Lexus’ pressure lessened a bit when he heard it, but it didn’t last long after he heard what his assistant would say next. "...but she did have a year-long relationship during her college years." Assistant Yu’s voice was getting softer and softer when he noticed his boss’s face getting darker and darker with his eyes glinting a murderous light. What’s more, that deadly glare was directed at him. His knees almost gave out from his boss’ pressure. "Who is? What? Bastard!" Lexus said through gritted teeth as his ocean eyes eerily glowed. Who dared touch his woman?! It’s unforgivable. Lexus was annoyed by the fact that some bastard dared to lay his dirty hands on his woman. He was seething with anger that he wanted to immediately seek out the man to beat him up. "I-I still haven’t found his name yet." Assistant Yu sweated a lot, trembling in fear like a small animal being cornered by a ferocious beast, when he received another sharp glare. "But I heard he was her senior and that he dumped her for someone else." He continued a little enthusiastically, as if he had just reported something to be proud of. When he realized that something was not right, it was already too late. He heard a swishing sound pass by his head and a loud smash behind him. He instantly turned pale. He robotically turned to look at the object that was smashed into smithereens and realized that it was his boss’ phone. ’Boss, your jealousy is over the top!’ Assistant Yu screamed in his head. He thought that his jealousy was already like this, how much more if the two ended up together? He shivered in horror. "What?! He dared to dump her?" Lexus felt like he was going to explode from anger. And then, without prior notice, he let out a blood-curdling laugh, a laugh that was like a sound coming from the depths of hell. "Good. Good." He hissed as he ran his hand again through his hair. Lexus thought that there wouldn’t be someone who would like an expressionless woman like her, but then again, thought that it was impossible not to get attracted to such an interesting woman. Seriously, he was contradicting himself. He then squinted his blazing eyes to stare at nothing. His eyes was like a bottomless ocean and within it was a whirlpool wanting to suck you in. But when you let yourself be sucked in, you’ll see an abyss where darkness and evil lurks. After a few moments of silence, which can also be considered as the time when his atmosphere can be considered light, he got up from the couch and shoved his hands into his dress pants. He was now calmer, which was a relief to his assistant. He then looked at his assistant, who was looking deathly pale and on the verge of collapse, and wondered what had happened to him, but just shrugged it off. "Look into it and report it to me immediately. I want you to dig into every little information that is connected to her." Lexus declared as he started walking towards his room to rest, but before he could enter his room, he said with a flat but cold voice, "Do it by today and, depending on how satisfying it is, I’ll give you a week-long paid vacation." Assistant Yu was dumbfounded at first when he heard his boss offer such a very rare break. He was so ecstatic. And without waiting for his boss to change his mind, he immediately bowed respectfully and said with a voice filled with dedication to his master. "Thank you, young master. I’ll give you a complete report by today." He then heard a soft "Mm" and a door closing. He then added, "Have a good rest, Young Master." ’I guess having Ms Park enter the young master’s life is a good thing. A very good thing indeed.’ Assistant Yu thought as he thanked the heavens for showing pity on him. After that, he enthusiastically and diligently worked with the goal of having his first long vacation. By the end of the day, he gave his report to Lexus and was then granted his paid vacation. And again, he thanked the heavens, thanked October, and thanked his young master by a hundredfold. He was also happy that his boss was starting to be human, little by little...or so he thought.
