Chapter 4: In To The Deep

I woke up hearing an annoying sound. Ughh, was it the alarm? I thought. I tried to reach my phone on my table. I was too far. I rolled to the other side of the be,d and I reached for my phone again. It wasn't there either! My eyes snapped op, scanning around my room. Dressing table? No. Study table? Nope, not there either. Near the lamp? Yes!! I found it. I checked the time. It was 7:00 A.M., at the exact moment, I heard a piece of argument from my stomach. 'But I am too tired, Maze, ' I complained to my wolf. 'Do, if you stay awake all night watching Stranger Things, ' she said, annoyed. 'Yeah, you're right,' I said, defeated. I went to the washroom, which had mosaic tiles. It had all the necessities - a washbasin, bathtub, shower place, and a huge mirror. It was one of the most relaxing places if you know what I mean. I took a shower, and I took a long one today. Because you slept while showering, Maze reasoned. About that, I um.., I didn't have an excuse. I went out of the washroom and went towards the closet. It was a medium-sized closet with so many clothes. I am not an organized person, so my clothes were scattered everywhere. There were loose clothes, fancy dresses only for special occasions, which Zes made me get. Casuals, sweaters, jackets, and shoes are a few clothes I have a liking for. I don't like wearing heels, so I wore sneakers, vans, and flats only. I chose a pale blue sweater with black skin-tight jeans, and along with the usual checkered vans. I took my phone and put it in my pocket, and got out of the room. Watcha doing? Maze questioned curiously. Heading to the ki, duh. I replied. I went down the stairs. My room was the last in the hallway. The walls were medium blue. My parents don't like to take pictures, so no frames were in the hallway or in the house. But there are so many pictures of me and Zes in my room. She is the soon-to-be Alpha, and she also happens to be my best friend!! Hungry!! Exclaimed Maze. Me too, I am heading there, I assured her. I went down the black carpeted staircase. The whole house was painted blue and white, with different shades of blue. I went down to the kitchen and made waffles and had maple syrup., I love waffles. I ate and walked over to the fridge for juice. I found apple juice, my favorite. When I was drinking, Alpha mind linked me. Mae can go help in the training of the teenagers and pups, who are on the ground. I and your dad have some important work to take care of,' I sniffed the air and growled. 'Rogue,' I linked him. 'Well, we were going to take care of that, you are going to be a great Beta! With those sharp senses of yours,' he replied. 'Yes, Alpha, I will head to the training grounds,' I replied with that, and he cut the mind link. I walked out of my house. Are you ready? I asked Mae. Helyeahea!! She replied. With that, I turned my Beta mode on. I walked towards the training grounds. Sure, I'm not a Beta yet, but I have the Beta blood in me, which gives me certain power and respect in the pack. I fight well too, not bragging, but I will be the second in command when Zes becomes an Alpha when she is 18. I am the strongest warrior after Zes. I reached the training grounds and took off my shirt, and was in my sports bra. I earned some wolf whistles from the teenagers. I returned them a glare. It's going to be a long day. I was chilling in the forest. Looking for my mate, I saw Zes walking with her dog somewhere around here, and now... she disappeared. I can't smell her; her scent is everywhere. My wolf is jumping around, annoyed because he can't see where our mate is. FLASHBACK I turned 1 a few days ago. I met my mate the day after when the Silver Moon Pack organized a ball. Every year, one pack organizes a ball where all the Alphas are invited. This year, it was conducted by The Silver Moon Pack. The ball was on 28th December. On that day, I saw Zes, not for the first time. The moment I saw her, I knew she was my mate. I wanted to go hug her, mark her, kiss her, but I wanted her to find out that I was her mate. Since she wasn't 16 years old, she didn't feel the mate bond. Keeping Ryder, my wolf, under control was hard. Her scent was intoxicating; it was the smell of rich vanilla and rose. I walked towards where the scent came from. I saw her!! Zes!!. She wore a beautiful mermaid-like cream dress that was embroidered with gold designs. The dress hugged her curves perfectly. The sleeve was up to right above her elbow. The heels she wore were high. I wondered how she walked in those. My future Beta, James, nudged me. I didn't notice that I was pouring my drink on him. Ryder burst out laughing. I couldn't control mine either, and everyone, including me, started laughing. He cleared his throat. I stopped laughing.g I felt bad for him, and I helped him clean his black suit. I wore a black suit too. Suddenly, I felt someone's eyes on me. I turned to see Zes checking me out. I smirked at her, which pulled her back to reality. She blushed in embarrassment. Looks like our mate likes our appearance, Ryder said proudly. FLASHBACK ENDS Suddenly,y I was pulled back into reality by a dog pulling my leg and barking. I recognized the dog. It was Zes's. I bent down and tried to pet him. "Hey boy, come here," I said, reaching my hand out to him. He came closer to me only to try and bite me. Luckily, I took my hand back and stood up. He again started biting my leg and calling me, barking. He wants you to follow him, Ryder informed. "Okay, where do we need to go?" I asked him. I wonder, where is Zes? She wouldn't leave her dog like this. He started to run in front of me. I followed him. Why is he not with Zes? Where is Zes? Questions were circulating my mind, and I grew more and more worried by the moment. The dog led me to the frozen pond. Her scent was everywhere. I was beginning to worry even more. He took me to the center of the pond. Whoa! He can skate?! He stopped. I looked down to see that a huge part of the frozen pond had cracked open. I looked closely, the sight made Ryder and me howl. Zes was moving into the deep. Without thinking, I jumped in! I swam until I reached Zes. Her head was bruised; I guess she hit the ice when she fell. I grabbed her hand and started swimming towards the surface. Hopefully, since she is a werewolf, she will heal quicker, and her wolf will help her heal. I made it to the surface and pushed her up the broken ice part and jumped to the surface. The moment she was on the surface, her dog came to her and started crying. I checked her pulse; she wasn't breathing. Without hesitation, I mouth to mouth treatment, which made her gasp and spit a lot of water, and then she went unconscious. I was happy her heart was beating. I picked her and started running toward my pack, which was close to the frozen pond. I stopped realizing that Zes's dog was also there. I turned to the dog covered with snow. I bent down, and it climbed onto Zes snuggled up to her. I started running towards my pack. I could see the guards of my pack in the pack boundary. I growled. I smelled the scent, the scent that makes me angry. Rogues! Right after that, three rogues came in front of me. Ryder was already mad because of what happened to Zes on top of these rogues! He was fighting to take control, but I stopped him. I was about to say something, but one of the rogues started talking. "We want no trouble, it's her we want," he said. Now, Ryder was in control. They wanted Zes. My eyes went black because Ryder took control of me. "You want her?" Ryder questioned them angrily. They nodded. Ryder growled. He placed Zes on the ground and lunged at one of the rogues. He broke the rogue's leg and clawed and twisted his head off. The other two were frozen after seeing the horrifying scene. The other rogue came lunging at him. Ryder pulled his claw out and gripped the rogue's throat tighter and snapping his neck. He was about to kill the third rogue after hitting him and clawing him. He was suddenly pulled by someone. It was Father. "Enough with that," my father said. I was about to argue, I was in control now, but after he said "You have to take her to the pack doctor before her condition worsens, and I will deal with the rogues." I agreed and picked her up and ran. I mind linked James that I want the pack doctor in my room when I reach there, or else I will have their head. He replied with an okay. I reached my house and ran into my room and saw the pack doctor smiling nervously. I placed Zes in the bed, and the doctor checked her. "Alpha, she is tired from the intake of water; she will wake up in a few hours," he said to me. I sighed in relief. "And please do change her clothes, it's not good for her," he added and left my room. Her clothes were sticking to her body. I could feel the lust take over me. Now is not the time, I told myself and Ryde, and with that, I walked out of my room and mind-linked my sister, Khloe, asking her to change Zes's clothes. She replied, saying Okay, in a minute. I went into the room to change my clothes. I went into the washroom to take a shower. After the shower, I came out of the washroom and noticed that Khloe had changed Zes' clothes. I went into the closet, chose a shirt and pants, and changed. After that, I went and sat at my study table. Why did the rogues want Zes? That's what I was thinking before getting interrupted by....
