Chapter 4: DIVORCE 2

Words : 1142 Updated : Jul 1st, 2025
Harlow read the message sent in by her so-called husband. Full custody? What does he want, full custody of now, Alex's ghost? She begged him for weeks, she told him about their son's health, but he didn't listen to her. He rather said, "Let him die if he wants to, I don't care." She would give it to him. If it's her dead son he wants, she would send it to him. Did he not see the news? Did he not see that she had an accident? It had been all over the news this morning, or did he think this was another joke, too? She tried to control her emotions, but she couldn't. She felt like she was losing her mind. Alanis had turned her into a complete madwoman, begging shamelessly for his love. But she was done begging him; he could go to hell. Never again would she beg a man who had turned her world into chaos and shattered her heart over and over again. She would give him the divorce he so much craves. If he hadn't been so careless about their son, they wouldn't be in this situation right now. He had been too focused on his first love. He valued her half sister more than her. Alex was always the one begging for his father's love and affection. He was always the one who had to fight with a grown ass woman for his father's love. Alex would have been by her side. Her baby boy would still be alive. She cried at her thought, but quickly caught the tear drop with her hands. This would be the last time she would cry for a scumbag like Alanis. He would regret ever hurting her; she would make sure of it. Her lower abdomen contracted again, and she held it tightly, letting out several harsh breaths. All Alex ever wanted was a little time with his father. His greatest wish was to go to the amusement park with his father one last time before his surgery, but Alanis wasn't there. And even to this moment, he is still unaware that their son had died. Alanis wanted a divorce, but Harlow had refused to give one. She had been desperate. She thought all they needed was a little more time before they fell in love. But she was wrong. The death of her only son made her realize that things would never go back to normal. It was time she moved on from that life. Alanis was never hers, and he never will be hers. She replied to his text. "Okay." Harlow staggered a little from the wall she stood next to. Each stride of her movement was a reminder of the pain she was going through. Her whole body ached so badly, the pain became more unbearable. She managed to reach the reception but was shocked by who she saw walking out of the doctor's office. She hasn't seen him in months now. "Oh, look at how beautiful they are." A nurse remarked. "Isn't that Claudia and Mr Hamilton?" "Yes, aren't they the perfect match made in heaven?" The nurses blushed amongst themselves... The same man she had called over and over again, but he kept ghosting her existence. Alanis was dressed in his usual black shirt with a few buttons loose at the top, revealing his built muscles. His face held an unreadable expression, eyes as cold as steel beneath a messy sweep of dark hair. He looked as handsome as always, with power and authority oozing from him. Alanis was present at the hospital in flesh and blood. But as always, he wasn't alone; he was with her half sister, Claudia. The same person who has ruined her life. Alanis held her like she was the most precious thing in the world as they stepped out of the doctor's office. Harlow smiled. She had gotten used to this, no; she was always so invisible to Alanis when it came to Claudia. It's obvious who he loved and preferred better. Sensing her presence, Alanis stopped in his tracks, face devoid of any emotions. Harlow fought the urge to launch at him, she fought the urge to slap and hit him so hard. To scratch his perfect face with her fingers till he bleeds. "Harl, W," Claudia called, staring at her half sister so innocently, but Harlow walked past them. She wasn't in the mood to speak to them today. "Harlow Blackwood, another one of your devious stunts?" She paused and turned to face them. His eyes moved around her body, lingering longer than usual;l, she knew he could see the cuts and bruises. The marks from the accident were evident; she wasn't lying this time, but he ignored it as usual. Her garment had blood stains, there were bandages on her ribs, hands, and ankles, but as always, he didn't care. Claudi, clinging onto his neck, looked up at Harlow, "Harlo, why did I break my ankle. Alanis was close by, so he decided to bring me here. I hope you don't mind, do you?" Alanis was close by? But she had called him all day yesterday to check up on Alex since she had something to do with his grandmother, but he never responded. It was just a twisted ankle... She had just lost a son. Claudia's ankle was nothing compared to the life of her lost son. His son... She watched Alanis lift her in his arms, not minding the side giggling and remarks from the nurses in there. She was his wife, yet the world somehow thought Alanis Hamilton and Claudia Blackwood were a thing, even if they had been married for five years. Their marriage has never been public. Alanis said he wasn't comfortable each time she tried to make it public, but he was boldly carrying her sister before everyone in here, knowing it would go viral because she's sort of a local celebrity. Harlow felt like multiple daggers were piercing into her chest all at once. Never has her husband been this affectionate towards her, even in secret. Alanis never cared about her. She recalled the time she almost lost her life when she fell from the stairs and broke her ribs . When she called, Alanis said, "A broken rib is not a life and death situation, why bother me? You might as well die and I still wouldn't give a fuck" To think she has loved this man for 10 years, yet that love was never reciprocated. She wouldn't blame him if she didn't force herself on him back then; maybe things would have been a little different now.
