This is heaven, surely! And I’m dead... either way, it was the perfect way to go because I got to see something that got me utterly astounded, maybe the weird thing we entered earlier caused my death, I will have to find out... I have a theory that in heaven, you don’t feel any pain, so I pinched myself and gasped at the pain...
I felt that! That means I’m not dead. Then what... What is this unreal place? Does such a thing exist in real life? Does it? The questions were loud in my head more than I could contain, and I felt like bursting. I have been kept on the edge of a cliff since the moment I stepped out of that cell. Why does everything keep getting confusing?
"This is the Holy Library."
Those words alone were enough to make my head fall silent, and I turned my eyes to my owner standing before me. The more the waft came in, the more his long silver hair flowed along with it, and my eyes did the only thing whenever I gaze upon such a marvel... they trembled.
But my senses picked back up when I realized what he told me. He called this place the holy library... What is that?
"My name is William Basker Darkmore and I’m the anchor, arbiter, and spirit anchored to this very dimension." he turned to me as he uttered words beyond my understanding, only which I understood was his name. "And you, Ava... are my bride"
Huh?!
I stood like a frozen cube of ice, my hand subconsciously tightened on the jacket around me. What did he just say? I’m... I’m his bride?!
I opened my mouth, but I paled... almost... almost my voice almost came through, and I almost gave myself out... well, I didn’t have much of a choice, his very words were enough to stun me into speaking.
He tilts his head to the side at my actions, and I quickly shut my mouth. I could only play silent and hope I didn’t give myself out. Who knows what he will do when he finds out I lied to him about being mute? I could only hope for the worst because no matter how calm he is right now, I should not forget the fact that he ripped a man’s hand off. I gulped just by recalling it, and the fear that seemed to vanish was back.
We remained gaping at each other... the fact is, I’m the one gazing upon him, his mask was in the way, and I can’t tell a thing. I think I prefer being back at that cell, right? That was a silent wish that occurred to me in these few minutes.
He looked to the side before backing me, and I let a breath escape from me; my heart was still pounding, and I tried to steady it.
He walked ahead in silence, but I knew all too well that meant I should follow, so I did... looking around the wondrous place.
We got to the front of the tall twin doors, which were the biggest and tallest doors I have ever seen. Can someone even open it? I don’t think so because it looks heavy for a normal man to even pull...
It automatically responded when we were closer to the door, fully opening on its own, and I was awestruck again. The number of unexplainable things happening before my eyes was overwhelming; I couldn’t keep track anymore. Itt was too much, and now it was no longer my heart pounding but my head. I was forced to hold it.
The door was fully open, and we were greeted by two companies. Severus, I recognize. How did he get here so fast? I remember leaving him back at the other place, or did he use a different route?
He has a smirk on his face as usual, and I wonder if they ever come out. He was standing upright with his hands behind his back in a perfect posture.
"Master," he said, placing his right hand on his chest with a curt bow of his head.
"Master," the other beside him said, and I finally took notice of the maiden beside him. My eyes widened just by observing her; the ladies I met back at that place I was kept weren’t compared to this.
She had orange-blond hair packed in a perfect bun; the color was so prominent, and it looked so beautiful that I envied it. She had obsidian eyes to match, and it was so light that it seemed like it glowed. She was in maid attire, a long-sleeved uniform. Shirt, corset, corset protector, bodice, and an apron on top.
What amazes me the most were her ears; they were... pointy? Was that possible? I think I have crossed the line of anything making sense. I just mentally convinced myself that whatever I see here will be beyond ordinary.
I noticed as she curtsied right after she said ’Master’, her two fingers on her skirt raised slightly as she relayed her gesture of respect before raising her head. I didn’t realize until now how stoic her expression was, her lips in a thin line and her eyes dead. It caused a chill to run through me.
"Muster!" The sudden cheerful voice got to me, nd I finally noticed yet another company we had. I had to level my eyes because she was super short and small, I think she might be 3 or something.
She had short, messy, curly, dark hair, thick and full, adding cuteness to her round, chubby face., I had the sudden urge to pinch it with my fingers, but I shook my head out of it. Her eyes were a set of beautiful, dim blue but still sparkled,d, and I didn’t miss out on the center mark, making her eyes look like a fox; it was intriguing. And surely I did not miss her twitching brown fox ears. She has fox ears!
She was dressed in a beautiful pink kimono gown that stopped at her knees, along with geta shoes. I mostly knew her attire because there was a time a Japanese couple came to adopt back at the orphanage, so her clothes weren’t a mystery to me.
She rushed to my owner as her geta shoes made tapping sounds, and that was when I caught yet another mystery. She had a brown tail with a white tip, a fox ear, and a tail?! Oh, dear Lord!
She hugged his leg, literally wrapping her legs and hands around his leg and raising her head, grinning widely at him, and I swore her eyes glittered.
"Muster!"
