After the ceremony ended, I walked over to Serena Sullivan and handed her my phone. "Congratulations to you both, wishing you a successful partnership and a bright future..." Before I could finish my blessing, a sudden scream erupted around me. I hadn’t figured out what was happening when a force pushed me forward a few steps. The next second, I crashed straight into the nearby towering champagne tower, falling to the ground in a disheveled mess. Cold wine drenched me, and shattered glass cut through my gown. Chills seeped from my skin into my heart. The broken glass cut my forehead, and warm blood oozed out, making my head dizzy. I forced myself to lift my eyes, only to see Julian Lancaster holding Serena Sullivan tightly, his face full of worry. "Serena, I just shoved her a bit. Did the wine splash on you?" So it was he who pushed me just now. A bitter smile curled up on my wine-stained face. But as I smiled, tears began to fall. These cold traces of tears became my last sensation before I fainted... Upon reopening my eyes, I saw my assistant’s concerned face. "Clara, how do you feel? Should I call Mr. Lancaster?" I parted my dry lips, my voice hoarse. "I don’t have a boss. I’m single." Before my words finished, Julian Lancaster pushed the door open and walked in, looking at me with a frown. "You’re single? Wasn’t it you who begged me to marry you a few days ago?" Looking at his cold face, exhaustion filled my voice. "Who is the beneficiary of that agreement? You can go back and see clearly." Julian Lancaster didn’t understand what I meant, only thinking I was jealous and throwing a tantrum, his tone impatient. "Clara, if it weren’t for using the Everard Family’s connections, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you! I just wanted to give Serena a chance to showcase her talent; it won’t affect your future status as Mrs. Lancaster. I don’t have time to coax you; stop making a fuss." Hearing him finally speak the truth, my eyes dimmed a little. "I’m not fussing. Whether you throw Serena a celebration party or make her a big star, I won’t care. I hope you also leave me alone, don’t disrupt my life anymore." Julian Lancaster looked at me steadily, seemingly assessing the truth of my words. But soon, he became convinced that I loved him so much that even just an empty title was sweet to me. The room stayed quiet for a long time, and after a moment, he withdrew his gaze; his tone softened slightly. "If that’s the case, from now on, you and I will be a pair of agreement spouses. As long as you continue to provide top-notch fragrances for Aethel, I’ll never divorce you. At yesterday’s dinner, you shielded Serena from the champagne tower; there’s two million in the card. Consider it my compensation to you." After Julian Lancaster finished speaking, he tossed the bank card onto the table and turned away straight out. I wanted to call him back to explain, but I had no strength left.
