Gregory's convoy blocked the company's entrance, preventing anyone from leaving. Employees who had just finished work gathered around, eager to witness the spectacle.
"Wow! So this is the second young master of the Santee family—so suave and handsome!"
"Don't get too excited. He's here for Ms. Eileen, not you!"
"Isn't Ms. Eileen marrying that loser Marty soon?"
"Hmph! Who does Marty think he is? How could he ever deserve Ms. Eileen, let alone compete with Mr. Gregory for her?"
"Exactly! Now that Mr. Gregory is publicly declaring his intentions, Marty is going to be humiliated. This is going to be so satisfying!"
"Yeah, let the embarrassment rain down!"
The news of Marty's upcoming marriage to Eileen hadn't just stirred jealousy among the city's elites—it had also ruffled feathers among the male employees at the company. They were eager to see Marty get put in his place by Gregory.
Marty, as Eileen's personal driver, arrived to pick her up after work. She was still in her office when he came looking for her.
"Damn it!" Eileen cursed. "As soon as my dad spreads news of my marriage, Gregory shows up to make his move. The Santee family is clearly trying to pressure us!"
"Don't worry, honey. I can handle this little problem," Marty said confidently.
"Stop calling me honey!" Eileen glared at him. "That's the second young master of the Santee family! You're just a driver—how could you possibly handle this?"
"Want to bet?" Marty grinned.
"What kind of bet?"
"If I deal with him, you owe me a kiss."
"You scoundrel!"
Marty laughed and headed for the door. Eileen thought about stopping him but hesitated. She decided to let him go. It would be a good opportunity to see if Marty had any real abilities or if he was just all talk. After all, she was about to marry him, even if it was only for appearances. She needed to understand him better.
Still, she worried he might get hurt, so she called security to keep an eye on things outside.
As Marty reached the company entrance, all eyes turned toward him. The male employees watching were practically salivating at the thought of him being humiliated by Gregory. They were eager for the show to begin.
Marty walked right up to Gregory.
He glanced at the luxury cars and the sea of roses, then smiled. "Mr. Gregory, this must've cost you a pretty penny."
Gregory, seeing Marty dressed in cheap, off-the-rack clothes, scoffed. "And who are you?"
"I'm the future boss around here," Marty said, grinning.
Gregory froze for a moment. The man claiming to be the future boss had to be the driver Eileen was supposedly marrying.
"So, you're the driver Eileen plans to marry?" Gregory sneered.
"That's right. I'm her fiancé," Marty confirmed. "Since you know she's taken, why are you still here trying to steal my woman?"
Gregory chuckled disdainfully. "Steal your woman? Haha! You're really overestimating yourself."
The employees burst out laughing, too.
"Marty, you think you're something special? You should be showing respect to Mr. Gregory!"
"Yeah, Mr. Gregory, this guy doesn't deserve to compete with you. Teach him a lesson!"
"Right! Put him in his place!"
Gregory, growing more arrogant, said, "You're just a lowly driver—a pawn the Letherdale family is using."
"You think marrying a rich and beautiful woman will elevate you? Don't be naïve! The Letherdale family is only using you as a shield."
"Even if by some miracle you manage to turn things around, you'll still be a loser."
"To me, you're not even a competitor. You're just a dog for the Letherdale family."
"I don't waste time arguing with dogs. If you know what's good for you, get lost. Otherwise, you're going to regret it."
As Gregory's words grew sharper, a dozen of his well-dressed lackeys surrounded Marty, glaring at him menacingly.
The crowd buzzed with excitement. Finally, the showdown was about to begin. Marty, how could you ever be worthy of Ms. Eileen? They were ready to watch him get crushed.
But instead of backing down, Marty smirked. His eyes suddenly sharpened as he said, "For what you just said, apologize—or you'll be the one regretting it."
Gregory was stunned for a moment, then broke into mocking laughter.
The employees joined in, eager to see Marty humiliated.
"Marty, who do you think you are? Show some respect to Mr. Gregory!"
"Mr. Gregory, don't go easy on him! He's asking for it!"
The employees were practically giddy with anticipation. They couldn't wait to see Marty brought to his knees.
Marty chuckled, pulling a document from his pocket. He unfolded it in front of Gregory.
The laughter stopped. Gregory's eyes widened in shock as he stared at the document.
"Look familiar?" Marty asked, still smiling.
Panic swept over Gregory. The document Marty held contained evidence of illegal fundraising activities linked to his family's business!
Just the day before, Marty had visited Wild Wave Bar, where the owner, Stan, had given him inside information about the Santee family, including this very piece of incriminating evidence.
Gregory no longer saw Marty as a mere driver. If he were just that, how could he have gotten his hands on such dangerous information?
"If you expose that, the Santee family won't let you off!" Gregory warned, his voice lower but laced with unease.
Marty laughed. "I'd love to see the Santee family try. Should I leak this evidence and see who comes out worse?"
"Don't do anything rash..."
"Well, that depends on your attitude," Marty said coolly.
"I'm willing to pay you off!"
"Why would I need your dirty money? My soon-to-be wife has plenty of that. Here's an idea—how about you start by apologizing to me?" Marty grinned.
