The following morning, Keenan wandered into the villa's living room after a simple breakfast.
He reclined on the sofa, staring at the slightly crumpled letter in his hand.
"Keenan, as your mentor, I suspect your wife isn't sincere. You should consider divorcing her and finding someone better."
"Fifteen years ago, when I first arrived in Seaview City, I met Finn Webberlye. He was gravely ill, and I saved him with a Purple Jade Pill."
"He was so grateful that he wanted to marry his granddaughter, Aya, to my descendants or favorite student."
"The pill's effects are wearing off soon. Once you're out of prison, grab the marriage contract and see Finn."
"If he honors his promise and marries his granddaughter to you, extend his life by fifteen years. Let him face his fate alone if he dares break the promise."
Keenan folded the letter with a wistful look on his face.
Warren left it for him before going on a trip last month.
At first, Keenan couldn't understand why Warren thought Georgia was untrustworthy.
Now, he realized Warren had long seen through her character.
After much contemplation, Keenan decided to meet Finn.
Finn was near death. Keenan couldn't just let him die without trying to help.
He intended to annul the marriage contract.
Having just divorced, he wasn't eager to remarry so soon.
When he exited the villa, he saw a black Bentley parked at the gate with a middle-aged guy in a dark blue suit next to it.
"Hi, Mr. Jauncy. I'm Cyrus Lloyd, the Sanderson family's butler." Cyrus approached quickly, bowing respectfully. "Is everything to your satisfaction? If you need anything, just let me know."
Keenan scratched his head, surprised that the Sanderson family was so thorough to send someone early.
He chuckled, patting Cyrus on the shoulder. "I'm all good here. It's pretty comfortable. But I need to run an errand. Can you give me a ride?"
A little while later, Cyrus drove Keenan to the Webberlye residence up in the northern district.
Curious, Cyrus asked, "Mr. Jauncy, if you don't mind me asking, why are you visiting the Webberlye family?"
Today was the engagement party for Aya, the Webberlye family's eldest daughter.
While the Webberlye family was considered a prestigious family in Seaview City, they barely reached the threshold of high society.
It puzzled Cyrus why someone of Keenan's stature would attend such a minor engagement.
Keenan replied casually, "I've got a marriage contract with Aya."
Then he got out of the car and walked into the villa.
"What?" Cyrus watched Keenan's back with a bewildered expression, hesitating before hastily dialing Valentina's number.
...
Twenty minutes later, inside the Webberlye villa's first-floor banquet hall.
"You, a recently released convict, dare claim an engagement with Ms. Aya? Look at yourself before making such a claim."
"Reaching for what is far beyond your league. Vanish from my sight before you dirty our carpet!"
The Webberlye family started hurling insults at Keenan, who had suddenly appeared at the party.
Today was Aya's engagement to Joe Kirk, the eldest son of the Kirk family.
The event drew many of Seaview City's elites and boasted grand festivities.
Unexpectedly, a young man brandishing a marriage contract burst in, claiming a fifteen-year-old engagement to Aya, leaving the Webberlye and Kirk families fuming.
The Webberlye family did not want to lose the opportunity to ally with the prestigious Kirk family.
Facing their verbal attack, Keenan felt just as angry.
He had barely started explaining the engagement when they insulted him.
Holding back his anger, he turned to Finn, the family head, and demanded, "Fifteen years ago, you begged Mr. Warren for this union. Now, without dissolving the engagement, you betroth your granddaughter to another. Do you have any respect for Mr. Warren?"
Even though Keenan didn't plan to enforce the marriage contract, the Webberlye family's attitude showed no respect for Warren.
Finn slowly stood up, angrily pointing at Keenan. "So what if I break it? It's a fifteen-year-old agreement, and it's long since irrelevant. My granddaughter will never marry a disciple of a mere doctor. Don't delude yourself."
Finn didn't know that the man who saved his life was the legendary Warren of Helvetia.
He dismissed Warren as a mere itinerant doctor.
After years of Finn's efforts, the Webberlye family finally reached the high society threshold.
They aimed to ally with more prominent families, disregarding the old engagement.
Aya stepped forward with a mocking smile. "Keenan, my husband must hail from a prestigious family. You're just a poor boy who's been to jail. Be smart and leave. Don't ruin my engagement with Joe."
Her sister, Elisa, crossed her arms and shot Keenan an arrogant glare. "Who do you think you are? Dressed in cheap clothes, my family's dog is worth more than you. Want to marry my sister? In your dreams!"
At that moment, Joe, dressed in a white suit and sporting slicked-back hair, joined Aya, wrapping an arm around her with a sneer. "Kid, the Kirk family is a distinguished name in Seaview City. I'm the heir to the Kirk Corporation. What could you possibly offer in comparison? Know your place!"
Keenan let out a cold laugh, his eyes full of mockery as he looked at Joe. "A woman like her, who's been with many men, doesn't interest me."
When Keenan saw Aya, he noticed several male energies around her, a sign she'd slept with many men.
He wouldn't accept such a woman even if she were given to him.
"You dare call me trash?" Aya's momentary shock turned to rage at Keenan's words.
She had slept with several wealthy scions, some even present at the engagement.
However, Keenan's exposure in front of everyone infuriated her.
