Travis took off into the sky, flying straight toward downtown.
Halfway there, he realized he didn't know where his parents were.
As a Nascent Realm Cultivator, finding two people was a piece of cake.
Floating in midair, he spread his spiritual sense, instantly covering all of Yvenlor. In no time, he found two familiar figures in the bustling city.
Travis opened his eyes, a smirk on his lips. "Found them!"
About ten minutes later…
In an upscale neighborhood in Yvenlor, Travis stood before a lavish mansion's gate, feeling sad. Was his mom working here as a maid?
Nothing was wrong with being a maid, but the thought of his mother having to serve these rich people bothered him.
Feeling more anxious, Travis hurried to the door and rang the bell.
Inside, a good-looking middle-aged woman was kneeling on the floor, scrubbing away.
Across from her, a plump woman was munching on sunflower seeds and bossing her around.
"Raven, can't you move any faster? Look at this floor. What did you do to it? I pay you thousands monthly, and this is what you did?"
The plump woman spat the seed shells onto the floor as she yelled at Raven.
"Ma'am, I'm sorry, I wasn't paying enough attention. I'll clean it right up!" Raven kept apologizing, scrubbing even faster.
The plump woman snorted, "Hurry up! After that, wash the clothes I just changed out of. And remember, the underwear has to be washed by hand! That set cost me thousands. If you mess it up, you'll be sorry!"
Raven dared not protest, nodding repeatedly in agreement.
Once the plump woman left, Raven wiped the sweat from her forehead.
It wasn't the first time she'd been bullied, but she put up with it for the one thousand she earned each month.
She needed the money, especially with her daughter about to go off to college.
"Ow!"
As Raven kept scrubbing, her waist started throbbing in pain again.
Years of labor work had left her with chronic back pain.
On rainy days, it hurt so much that she could barely stand up straight, and cold sweat would bead on her slightly wrinkled forehead.
Raven tried to grit her teeth and keep scrubbing, but the stabbing pain made her suck in a sharp breath.
"Raven, are you okay?"
A middle-aged man with glasses walked in, seeing she couldn't stand up.
He was the plump woman's husband. He was timid.
"It's nothing, sir. My back's acting up again. I need a minute to rest," Raven forced a smile.
"Back pain?" The man looked worried.
"Here, let me help you over to the couch."
"Thank you, sir, but I'm okay. I still need to finish cleaning."
The man insisted, "The work will still be here. You can't keep working like this. Just rest for a bit."
Raven felt grateful. The husband was much more easygoing than his wife.
With his help, she reached the living room.
"Go ahead, have a seat," the man said, putting a cushion on the couch for her.
"I'm dirty. I'll sit on the little stool," Raven said, shaking her head.
"Just sit here," the man said, not taking no for an answer, and pressed her onto the couch.
His lack of disdain touched Raven.
Wealth didn't always equate to snobbery.
"Raven, how long have you worked here?" the man asked, handing her a glass of water and sitting opposite.
"Almost six months now," she replied, thanking him.
"Six months, already?" He smiled, nodding.
"Yes, you've both been kind, providing accommodation and food, and paying me one thousand a month," Raven said, brushing stray hairs from her forehead.
"It's only fair. A good maid is hard to find," the man said, rubbing his hands with a dry laugh, a subtle glint in his eyes.
Feeling uncomfortable under his gaze, Raven stood.
"I should get back to work."
"Stay a while longer," the man said, grabbing her hand.
Startled, Raven tried to pull away. "Sir, what are you doing?"
Though not a beauty, Raven's mature allure and figure made her stand out for her age.
Holding her hand, the man's heart raced, but he had no intention of letting go.
"Raven, your hands are rough. Let me transfer some money for you to pamper yourself," he suggested, caressing her hand with his thumb.
Alarmed, Raven protested, "Sir, please stop. What about your wife?"
Mentioning his wife darkened the man's expression.
"Don't bring up that fat woman. If not for her controlling most of the company shares, I'd have divorced her long ago!"
He forced a smile.
"Raven, I've admired you for a long time. I'll pay you ten thousand a month if you date me."
Shocked, Raven exclaimed, "Sir, let go, or I'll call the police!"
She reached for the phone beside the sofa.
The man quickly snatched it away, pulled her into an embrace, and inhaled her scent.
"Raven, I truly like you. Please agree."
He puckered his lips, moving to kiss her.
Panicked, Raven struggled fiercely. "I'm married and have children! Let go, or I'll scream!"
She shoved him away and tried to flee.
But the man blocked her path, coldly declaring, "This is your chance. Sleep with me once, and I'll give you fifty thousand a month, more than half a year's wages. Are you sure you won't consider it?"
Furious, Raven shouted, "Get away from me! I'm not that kind of woman!"
His expression turned menacing as he grabbed her shoulders, throwing her onto the sofa.
"If you won't cooperate, don't blame me for being rough!"
The door suddenly burst open.
A chilling male voice echoed from outside, "If you dare lay a finger on my mother, you'll regret ever being born!"
