"Elias, what's this 'Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation' you're talking about? Does that guy really know medicine?" Terry asked, casting doubt on Levi's abilities.
Every patient at Bewell Hospital had to register all their details.
Before he went to prison, Levi was just a regular guy, fresh out of college, trying to make it. Going to jail basically ruined his future.
Terry had already written Levi off as a loser-he wouldn't have even looked at him if it weren't for today. He didn't even think Levi was good enough to tie his shoes.
But what Elias said next completely floored Terry.
"The Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation can bring the dead back to life and even regrow flesh and bones! As long as there's even a sliver of life left, they can be saved!"
Terry sucked in a sharp breath. He knew Elias wouldn't lie about something like this.
"That amazing? Where'd this kid pick that up?" Terry asked, suddenly taking Levi more seriously.
If Levi were just some nobody, Terry wouldn't think twice about stepping on him. But now that Levi knew the Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation, it was a whole different story.
"Where'd you learn the Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation? Who taught you?" Elias pressed.
"My master's name isn't for mortals like you to know. Don't waste your time asking," Levi sneered.
Of course, Levi wasn't about to tell them that he just learned the Thirteen Needles from some old medical book his master picked up in this world.
Right now, Levi was only at Energy Refining Level 7, so he still needed to use silver needles to treat people. But once he reached Foundation Establishment, his skills would be on a whole other level, even Elias wouldn't be able to make sense of it!
"You should be honored that Elias is even talking to you! Don't be so ungrateful!" Terry snapped.
"What a joke! So he thinks he knows the Thirteen Needles and wants to lecture me?" Levi laughed.
Elias's face turned bright red. If he actually knew the Thirteen Needles, he wouldn't be stuck here.
That just made him even more determined to get his hands on that miraculous needle technique.
Elias shot Terry a look, and Terry immediately got the message.
"Levi, how about we cut a deal? Here's your family's hospital bill. I'll wipe it out, not a penny needed."
"And I'll let it slide that you hit Dr. Webberlye. Otherwise, with my pull, sending you back to jail would be a piece of cake."
"In exchange, just hand over that medical book with the Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation, and we'll call it even. Deal?"
On the surface, Levi had every reason to say yes. Especially since he'd just gotten out and was back with his family; no way he wanted to go back in.
Terry thought he had it all figured out, but Levi wasn't the pushover he used to be three years ago.
"You know damn well how that debt came about. And as for sending me back to jail, not you, not anyone in all of Chiton could pull that off. If you don't believe me, try it!" Levi shot back, totally unfazed.
Terry was fuming at Levi's cocky attitude. He didn't buy that Levi was really that tough; he just figured Levi was banking on the medical book for protection.
Terry shot Elias a look, waiting to see what he'd do.
Elias frowned hard. He wanted the Thirteen Needles of Rejuvenation more than ever, but it was clearly not going to be easy.
"Terry, since he hurt your guy, why not just take him away for now?" Elias suggested after thinking it over.
Rough him up until he talks-there was no other way!
Terry got the hint and barked at his bodyguards, "Tie him up! Anyone who messes with me is gonna pay big time!"
"Please, Terry, have some mercy," Cyrus pleaded.
"Don't hit my son! If you have to, hit me!" Mavis cried, trying to protect him.
"We'll pay back the money and cover Dr. Webberlye's medical bills-just let my brother go," Mila pleaded.
They knew all too well how much pull Terry had, but no matter how they begged, he just ignored them.
"Dad, Mom, Mila, don't worry. These losers can't lay a finger on me," Levi said with a cocky grin.
"Let's see if your body's as tough as your mouth!" Terry shot back.
Just as things were about to get ugly, a woman's angry shout came from the doorway.
"Stop right there!"
Everyone turned to see two women at the door, both shooting icy stares at Terry and Elias.
"It's her?" Levi was stunned.
It was Michelle, the same woman he'd just seen that morning in prison.
Harold had quietly told Levi she was someone important, with a mysterious background.
Not that Levi cared much-he was a cultivator now, and the world's affairs didn't mean much to him.
After a quick moment of shock, Terry and Elias recognized her right away.
"Ms. Lidyard, what a surprise! I'm so sorry we didn't greet you sooner." Terry's attitude did a 180, suddenly acting like a total suck-up.
Elias bowed and scraped. "Ms. Lidyard, it's great to see you again."
Meanwhile, the Casson family got even more nervous seeing someone so important show up.
Michelle just kept a cold face and ignored their flattery, not saying a word.
At that moment, her maid, Margot, turned to Terry and asked, "What's going on here?"
"Well, here's what happened-one of our doctors was just treating a patient, but his ex-con's son not only didn't appreciate it, he even started a fight. As the director, I had to step in," Terry said.
But before he could finish, Margot slapped him right across the face.
The slap was so hard that Terry saw stars and almost passed out.
Before Terry could even react, Margot turned to Elias. "And you, Elias, what are you doing here?"
"I-I'm just here to treat patients…" Elias stammered, clearly shaken.
Sure enough, he got slapped, too.
Smack!
Margot hit him so hard his glasses shattered.
"Ms. Lidyard, what did we do wrong?" Terry asked, clutching his face, totally confused.
Michelle still didn't say a word, but Margot clearly had her permission to act.
"Talking nonsense and showing no respect to my lady's lifesaver, are you tired of living?"
