"Get back together? Please."
Pierce gave a mocking smirk, his cold eyes locked on Estella.
"Do you seriously think that much of yourself?"
Estella let out a laugh. "Did I hear you right?"
"Yeah, you heard me right."
Pierce took a deep breath, then said, "First, I'm not here to get back with you. You're not worth it. Second, you know exactly why I went to prison three years ago. What goes around comes around, so watch out."
"And just so we're clear, I was the one who dumped you. Don't forget it."
"You dumped me? Who do you think you are?"
Estella's face fell. She knew exactly what had happened three years ago.
Pierce ended up in jail for hurting someone, but it was all a scheme cooked up by Estella and Fernando.
When Estella started her internship at the hospital, she secretly hooked up with Fernando. In school, she liked the smart and handsome ones, but later, she preferred someone with a wealthy background like Fernando.
To get rid of Pierce, they plotted to have him imprisoned.
Estella didn't feel the least bit guilty. To her, it was just survival of the fittest.
How could an ex-prisoner even think about dumping her?
"Because you're not worthy to be my girlfriend."
Pierce's face hardened. "Give me back the Jackson Clinic. If I have to come get it myself, don't blame me for making a scene!"
"Clinic? That was your payback to me. Did you think I'd date you for nothing?"
The Jackson Clinic had long been demolished, and Estella, knowing in advance about the demolition, claimed to be pregnant with Pierce's child to demand it.
Three hundred grand from the demolition went straight into Estella's pocket.
No way she'd ever give it back.
"Still pretending you don't know? You think I'm..."
Creak!
At that moment, the door to the private room swung open. A young man in a sharp white suit walked in, followed by two sidekicks.
He was good-looking enough to make Pierce's eyes go red with anger.
The man was Fernando Turner.
Three years ago, Pierce was sentenced to five years for assaulting Fernando after he had harassed Estella.
Yet here they were, three years later, the rogue and the harlot united.
Estella even told others that Pierce couldn't bear to part with her and that he assaulted her new boyfriend out of jealousy.
She played the victim with ease.
"Darling, you're finally here."
Seeing Fernando arrive, Estella felt a sense of relief. For some reason, Pierce's gaze had unnerved her, making her uncomfortable.
"I missed you so much."
Estella's voluptuous body seemed to melt against Fernando, her voice sweet and coy, sending shivers down anyone's spine.
"Are all your classmates here? Hmm, and this must be... Pierce Jackson."
Fernando's eyes scanned the room and landed on Pierce.
"You're out?"
Fernando was just as surprised as Estella.
"Good to be out. Though we had our differences back then, let's not dwell on the past."
Before Pierce could speak, Fernando patted him on the arm. "Move on, and if you ever need help, just come to me."
"Haha."
Pierce chuckled coldly.
Fernando was even more of an actor than Estella. He acted like a perfect gentleman.
"That's generous of you, Fernando."
Gerald, one of Fernando's sidekicks and a former classmate of Pierce and Estella, chimed in. Now working under Fernando, he, like Roy, was Fernando's loyal dog.
"Yeah, Pierce, Fernando's willing to let the past go and doesn't even care that you're an ex-con. How generous is that? You should thank him."
Roy echoed.
Pierce raised an eyebrow, ignoring the two lapdogs. His eyes were cold and sharp as knives.
Let the past go?
He was sentenced to five years in jail.
Even though he didn't end up in prison and learned a lot from his mentor, those days and nights still broke his family.
Estella took the Jackson family's clinic under the pretense of pregnancy.
But during their relationship, they didn't have sex, so how was she pregnant?
"Pierce, don't..."
Nancy, sensing Pierce was getting angry, tugged at his sleeve, worried he might lose it again.
Pierce turned to Nancy with a smile, his anger fading a lot.
Getting worked up over these people just wasn't worth it.
"Pierce, we are getting married soon. What we had is in the past, so stop clinging to me."
Estella chimed in again.
"Our wedding is next month. Fernando wants to make me the happiest woman in the world. If you wish us well, you're welcome to come to our wedding."
"Let's forget about the past. We don't need your blessings. Don't bother us anymore."
"Such magnanimity, Estella!"
Gerald gave Estella a thumbs up, then turned to Pierce, scolding, "Pierce, don't forget you're an ex-con. Someone as stunning as Estella is way out of your league. You can only watch from the sidelines."
"Oh, and since you're here, eat up. After three years in jail, you probably forgot what meat tastes like. Take some if you want."
"Don't worry, Fernando and Estella have plenty of money."
Everyone in the room burst out laughing, pointing and whispering about Pierce.
Pierce stayed cool, his face calm as ever.
"That's enough! You've gone way too far!"
Pierce could hold his composure, but Nancy couldn't.
She had endured enough over the years.
"We're all classmates. Do you have to treat Pierce like this? Everyone has tough times. So what if he's broke? So what if he's in jail?"
"Even the law gives people a second chance. Who are you to judge?"
"Pierce, let's go. This kind of reunion isn't worth attending!"
Nancy, suddenly fired up, grabbed Pierce and dragged him out.
He still had more to say, but she pulled him out, her eyes red and face full of anger.
"Nancy, you..."
"Mr. Jackson, you're already here? I was just about to call you."
Before Pierce could get another word in, someone else showed up.
Kailey, thinking Pierce hadn't arrived, was just about to call him when she ran into him in the hallway with a gorgeous woman by his side.
"Is this your girlfriend?"
Kailey sized Nancy up, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
Nancy's cheeks flushed as she looked at Pierce, waiting anxiously for his answer.
