Chapter 8

Words : 1957 Updated : May 5th, 2025
I learned magic. The magic I was best at was ice magic. Huh. It's the kind of magic that suits a cool guy like me. I even tried to embed some of the magic in my own body. It was fun, like getting a permanent tattoo. Thanks to a good teacher, I think I became reasonably strong. However, I have one complaint. I don't have anyone with whom I can fully use the magic I've learned. I can't even use it on my servants. If it's my sister, I can use ....... No, that's not good enough. Let's stop. I think it's I think I should use magic on the soldiers in the name of training! So I headed to the training ground where the soldiers were gathering. It's good to beat up soldiers and make them understand the difference between hierarchy and inferiority. Ha-ha-ha! This is the work of a villainous lord! Many of the guys I gathered had stern faces. Wow, that's nice. That's the evil lord's soldiers. I'm getting chills just thinking about these guys bowing down to me! Lancelot is a drunken soldier. He worked for the Noyadama family to support his wife and children. The Noyadama family's military was a garbage force. The superiors were a bunch of scum, and the subordinates worked with dead eyes. Lancelot had worked his way through it all just fine. He was moderately relaxed so as not to attract the attention of his scum bosses, but he did not engage in any wrongdoing. The reason he did not cheat was not because he was earnest. It was because he was afraid his wife would be angry with him. Lancelot feared his wife more than anything else. What would happen if his wife found out that he was doing something illegal? Just thinking about it makes him shudder. He was not earnest, but from the side, he must have looked like a diligent soldier. As a result, he was able to escape the Arc purge. Arc's purge was the resignation of all those who had been involved in wrongdoing. In reality, Lampard, who had received orders from Arc, had selected the soldiers, but from Lancelot's point of view, it was all the same. Almost all of the higher ups were involved in the corruption, so all of the shitty bosses were forced to quit. As a result, Lancelot became the head of the organization. Having originally worked as a knight in King's Landing, Lancelot had a good track record, and few were against him. Furthermore, he may not know it, but Lancelot was highly regarded by his subordinates. It is not that Lancelot is particularly talented. It was just that all the other bosses were no good, and although he sometimes looked better relative to them, he was not good at his job. His swordsmanship was not that great either. However, he was a good talent spotter. He was good at assigning work to talented people as a way of getting rid of his hands. Because Lancelot had always been in a good mood with his wife, he was also good at putting his subordinates in a good mood. As a result, his subordinates respected him, and thanks to the excellence of his subordinates, people around him also thought he was good at his job. Because of this, no one was unhappy about Lancelot's being at the top. Except for the person himself, ....... Lancelot was the only one who had his head in the clouds. 'What the hell are you doing to me!' He just wanted to relax and have fun in moderation. As long as he could drink, he didn't need a high position. If he had a higher position, he would have more responsibility and more hardship. He was the head of the military of the count's family. A big career advancement sounds good, but Lancelot did not want such a thing. He just wanted to earn a good salary, drink alcohol, and have fun, so his current position was nothing but a burden to him. However, he could not decline. His wife was overjoyed with Lancelot's success. His subordinates were also pleased. Everyone except Lancelot was happy about his promotion. Only Lancelot was sad. It would be rare to see such a career advancement that had nothing to do with the will of the person himself. In the midst of all this, Arc started saying that he would personally show up for training. Not only would he show up, but he would even attend the training. Lancelot was so stressed that he felt a pit forming in his stomach. If something happened to Arc, Lancelot would be the first one to lose his job. If he lost his job, he did not know what his wife would do to him. Lancelot was afraid of that. Incidentally, Arc has a high reputation among the soldiers. It is partly because the previous head of the family was the worst, but there is another reason for the high evaluation. The reason is that he had all the scum bosses fired. The soldiers who remain now are those who have worked diligently in the rotten military organization of the Noyadama family. Of course, this is not an establishment that rewards diligent work. Rather, it was an organization where the more diligent you were, the more unreasonable things would await you. Since they have worked diligently in such an organization, they are certainly people with a good conscience. There is no reason why they would not be pleased with the Arc reforms. Even though it was by no means the best place to work, the change from the worst to the norm was enough for the soldiers. Because of this, the soldiers valued Arc highly. But while they valued him as a lord, they did not value him at all as a fighter. They had no way to value him at all. Ark had rarely appeared in front of the soldiers, and all he had done was paperwork. In other words, the soldiers thought he was a coward. "Hey, soldiers, I'm here to train you. You should be grateful." The soldiers could not hide their smiles at Ark's arrogant talk. The soldiers could not hide their smiles at Ark's arrogance, because he looked like a teenager being bossy. "Oh-ho. I'll deal with him then." Kamase, a man with the looks of a third son, came forward triumphantly. Lancelot finally felt a pit in his stomach. The way he spoke to Kamase was not the way he would speak to a lord. Lancelot feared he would lose his head. "Hm. It's disrespectful, but I'll forgive it.: Arc's mouth was agape. "Dance at your leisure. Make me happy." You're a little bit arrogant, kid. I'll kill you!" Kamase barked. --Puchi! Lancelot's stomach was in agony. He should never have spoken out of turn to the Count. The head of a staff member would physically fly off. And his boss, Lancelot, would be held accountable as well. Lancelot looked down and held his temples. Where shall I get my next job? No, before that, what shall I explain to my wife? Lancelot's mind was occupied with the question of how to make an apology to his wife. Just a few days ago, his wife had congratulated him on his promotion. What should he say to her? Lancelot was thinking of excuses to his wife, such as ....... ----." The hall was quiet. Lancelot looked up and confirmed the situation. Kamase had been knocked over and put in ice. Ark is looking down at Kamase. In other words, Ark had iced Kamase. It made no sense to him. Kamase is not weak. He was one of the best in the military. 'Is this how it's done? Boring. Hey, soldiers. Isn't there anyone else? This is no way to get used to it." After that, the soldiers challenged Ark one after another, but they were unable to get the better of him. It is not a pleasant sight to see soldiers being beaten by a single child. Lancelot thought. --The aristocrats are terrible. Lancelot, the knight of betrayal. Lancelot, the knight among knights. In the original story, he is the one who betrayed his master, Ark, and joined the protagonist's camp. Lancelot had miraculously escaped with his family before Ark's territory was occupied by the dark hand. There he was accompanied by some of his best men. Lancelot escaped safely from the danger, but unfortunately, he met the main characters. The main characters, who wanted to fight against Ark, asked Lancelot to lend them his strength. Of course, Lancelot had no intention of joining the fight. He was a man who would be satisfied with a moderate salary, a few drinks, and a little fun. He thought it was foolish to go to the trouble of going to battle. However, his wife and his men seemed to be fully motivated, saying, "We are going to take back our land!" Lancelot was reluctantly forced to join the battle. Together with the main characters, they successfully defeated the Arks and became the heroes who saved the territory. Lancelot, a knight among knights. That is how Lancelot was regarded by the people around him in the original story. Of course, Lancelot is still Lancelot as in the original story. He is a man who only wanted to live a comfortable life, but was led and carried along by those around him. In the original story and this world, Lancelot's destiny to be burdened with something larger than his size may be the same. Incidentally, there is a reason why Arc, who had no combat experience, was able to defeat the soldiers just by studying magic. Unless Ark had some special talent for magic, his talent is, at best, upper-medium ...... or even lower-medium. In short, Ark was an ordinary man with a little talent. However, the amount of magical power was huge. He possessed one of the highest amounts of magic power in the series. However, in the original story, this was the reason why, after being turned into a chimera, he kept activating his regeneration spell and was unable to die even if he wanted to. Poor guy. But even he had one outstanding talent. It was his affinity for the magic tricks. Just as in the original story, the regeneration magic implanted in his body was still working properly, Arc has a constitution that allows him to implant magic into his body. The way for Arc to become strong in an instant. That is to embed magic techniques in the body - a technique known as "imprinting.: However, this is a crazy act, and a dangerous one that can kill a person. If the affinity with the magic is low, the magic will go out of control and consume the body. The body may become incapable of using magic for the rest of one's life, the body may become immobile, or the mind may disintegrate and become a derelict. Arc was performing such a dangerous act as lightly as getting a tattoo. Luckily, Arc's body had a high affinity for the magic, so he was able to move properly, but if it had not been for Arc, he would have died. However, thanks in part to this, Arc gained enough strength to kick the soldiers around with ease. And he succeeded in winning the respect of the soldiers. In this way, the story deviates from the original again.
