"I'm sorry, Clara. You left me with no choice. Believe me, this is hard for me, but then, protecting our wolf clan has always been my father's responsibility. And one day, I knew it would be my turn to continue from where he had stopped. You and your people have just made that happen quickly by attacking and killing my father. Revenge is all I seek. I have made a vow to myself that anyone found responsible for my father's death shall pay a heavy price. I meant it when I said so."
"Wait a minute!" She used her hand to demonstrate as if she were trying to hold him back from coming closer to her. "Are you accusing me of being the one behind the killing of your father?"
"There is no answer to that question. That's what we are about to find. You don't know how hard this is for me, but you and your people have pushed us beyond our limit. We can't take it anymore. By killing my father, the love that has existed secretly between you and me for the past three years has come to an end, Clara. And if you are found guilty of this, let the justice of my kind be served to you."
"Do you know what you are doing, Kane? They will come after me. This is war, and you are on the brink of declaring it if you ever kill me or take me as your hostage."
"No, Clara!" He shouted. "You and your kind already declared war on us. We were just too naive and late in responding to your threats. A war has already begun from yesterday night when my father was
murdered in cold blood by your people!'' He looked at the wolves and commanded them, "Bind her at once!"
The attacking force encircled her, leaving her in a defenseless situation. Clara looked up to the sky as she took a deep breath, with no plan in place to defend herself.
"I can't fight you, Kane! I can't fight you! It's forbidden that I should do that. How can I make the same mistake that you are making? How can I go to war for those I have always fought for, to protect?ct. I would rather let you kill me with your own hands than put up any resistance against you. Let Mother Earth justify my innocence."
"What are you waiting for? Bound her at once!'' He barked at the wolves, who seemed to have been hesitating to carry out his orders.
They knew she was no ordinary human. She was a witch and the daughter of a powerful witch. It is expected of her to take over from her mother someday. She has been exposed to the art of magic.
Therefore, they applied caution while approaching her. Surprisingly, she put up no resistance; instead, she straightened her hands forward and let them bound her.
Meanwhile, Kane turned his back on them as they began taking her away. He did that to hide his tears. He had suddenly gone emotional and therefore couldn't stand the sight of her being treated
like a prisoner. They began leaving the woods for the Lycan's isolated territory.
"Does this make you happy now, wolf?'' She asked him with a name that only an enemy could use. "If this is what will make you happy, wolf, so be it. I don't regret falling in love with you because I never
considered that a mistake. However, I was foolish enough to trust you with everything I have got. I was foolish because, right now, it's about to cost my life."
"I feel the same about you," he began, "I have always loved you with all my heart. I never had the intention of putting you in any harm's away, even our people have been at war for ages. Everything we did was genuine. I thought our love, when we finally make it open to everyone, would help to force our people into a peace treaty with your people. At least, it has been so, Clara, until you pulled the plug.
Until you allowed them to use you against us. How could you?'' His eyes flooded with tears as he spoke.
"I can't defend myself again because it's needless to do that. You will never believe me, no matter how hard I try to clear my innocence. You were not listening when I said I wasn't the one who attacked and
killed your father. My mother did. Don't fall into her trap, Ka ne! I'm begging you. That which has happened was meant to instigate a war. They will come for me, which will be enough reason to wage war on
your kind. A war they had so much desired for ages. The witches and the humans will stop at nothing in making sure that all of you are annihilated. Heed my warning, please, and stay clear. There is still time for diplomacy. Let me handle this,'' she pleaded with a sobbing voice.
She knew what was coming forth but wasn't sure i Kane would ever listen to him at this point. She knew hemom had crossed their red line. There was no way the Nazans wouldn't seek revenge for the death of their alpha, Conr, their revered leader for two hundred years.
"Has anyone ever told you how pathetic you sound?" He stops abruptly to talk to her. He has beeatin the forefront, while the rest followed behind with their prisoner. "I know what you are trying to do, Clar, a b, I'm sorry it will never work. I have figured that out already."
"And what will that be?'' She asked curiously.
"You are trying to persuade me to set you free so you can go out there and plan more attacks on my people. Let me tell you, my father will be the last big prize the witches and the humans alike will ever lay
their hands on again. I will never let that happen."
"It seems to me that is a way of saying yes to war!" Said Clara.
"Yes! So be it! It's on!"
