He smirks, Weren't you listening to what my mom was ranting about yesterday? " he raises a brow in question.
"Uummm, I know, but I wasn't expecting to meet you in school this week."
I thought he might start later. Probably around that kind next week or so.
"I wasn't supposed to start school this week, but you know how convincing my mom could be, so….. "
The ringing of a bell interrupts our conversation.
"It's time for our assembly." I led the way towards our hall. Being a new guy here, I have to show him some things.
We had our morning devotion before we retired to our first classes.
"What do you have this morning?" I turn to Dave with a question, but instead of answering, he gives me his timetable.
Reading through it, I widen my eyes in surprise.
"Really? You have the same classes as I," I ask, surprised at the coincidence.
He just shrugs. "Mother was the one who chose the classes. I don't even know the subjects I'm taking." He sighs. "I gotta go. See you in class, I need to go and take my textbooks from the dean."
"You know the way, right?"
"Yes, of course. I do." Waving at me, he walks towards the teacher's staff rooms.
I walk into the physics lab and take a seat next to the window.
A few minutes later, the teacher walked in.
"Good morning, class," he greets as he writes something on the board.
"Good morning, sir," the class responds.
"Today our topic is velocity... "
The sound of the door opening made the teacher pause.
We all look expectantly at the door to see who would dare interrupt our lesson.
And oh dear, Dave strides in looking all high and mighty with a smirk.
The girls gasp loudly.
I can't blame them. I would have done the same if today were the first time I was seeing him.
"Good morning, sir, Dave greets as he fully walks into the class.
"Young man, may we know you??? The teacher questions.
"Am David a transfer student, just started school today," he says out of tune with the attention he's getting.
"Welcome, David. You can take a seat, I'm about to start class." He gestures for David to join us.
Looking at the class in search of me, David looks serious.
He spots me and starts walking towards me.
iIshe roaming my way?
I blink in question.
Oh, be not and.....
He takes the seat right next to me.
"Well, class, as I was saying before the interruption, our topic today is velocity ", he starts the lectures.
"Hey", David nudged me.
I look up from the note I was making, oh, gry about the interruption.
Who wouldn't be angry if you were interrupted during a physics class?
"What? " I shout, unknowingly attracting the attention of the teacher.
"Mr Daniel, can you please enlighten us on what you are discussing that is more important than the lesson we are in He says in an angry tone.
"I wasn't talking I w, as paying attention."
He looklookedme with raised brows, and Davie mirrored his look.
That conniving traitor is enjoying this while he was the cause of it.
I discreetly give him the finger as I don't want detention on my second day at school.
"Well, Mr. Daniel, since you were really 'PAYING' attention, can you tell me the formulae for the velocity of an object during uniformly accelerated motion?"
I can feel eyes on me, and even Dave looks compassionately at me.
wellWell, bad for him, he doesn't need to pretend he cares, baby... I've got this.
"Well, it's, it s's+1\2at^2" I answer.
" youYou it but, next time don't interrupt my class else you face detention", he gives me a stern warning. Turning back to the board, he resumes writing.
I sit down.
So much for keeping a low profile I hump, and luckily Dave didn't disturb me throughout the lecture.
The three more classes we had before lunch went by uninterrupted.
As IAsAsas packing my books after the Biology class, the bell was rung, indicating the time for lunch.
I didn't wait for Dave, who was busy making friends. I know his mom asked me to be his tutor, but she didn't mention that I should be his bodyguard.
I leave him to his device as I walk towards the cafeteria.
I walk home alone, having missed the school bus, and you can guess the reason for that.
David told me to wait for him after school, but here I am walking home alone!
A stood me up or, preferably, ditched me.
As I walked an alley near townthe s square, a scream stopped me dead in my tracks.
I look around, and when I see one around I d, I decide to check out the source( although I knew curiosity killed the cat, but we all know people whose satisfaction brought it back).
"Bitch you better keep quite or you will regret it", a voice hisses as I drew closer.
As I drew close I w, as nauseated by the smell of blood, the smell of blood, although I want to be a doctor_ A girl was lying on the ground, and a boy was on top of her.
I have read stories about rapes.
I read it on the news every time I have witnessed.
The boy who was busy undressing the wounded girl didn't notice as I cautiously approached, but the girl saw me as she llookedup heher filled with fearnow had a bit of hope in it.
I looked around, and that's when I saw a fire extinguisher lying around.
I tiptoe here, he was (hadn't noticed me yet), and hit him with the fire extinguisher.
He looks stunned as he tries to regain composure.
I didn't wait for any signal as I hit him again on the head. This timeit perfectly knocked him off.
I slump on the floor, colors draining from my face( who wouldn't be shaking after that), my body quivering from the shock.
I hit someone.
I can't believe it, I ait a person.
I have never been the violent type.
That said, I am really surprised by what I just did.
Taking the phone out of my pocket, I call the police.
sSomethingsSomething shouldbefore trying to be a hero.
"Thanks", I startle at the sound of her voice.
I've forgotten about the girl I saved.
I look at her closely and discover now half-ripped, or is it my school's?
I help her up and sit her on the bench. What happened?" I gently ask her.
She started sobbing.
I am always awkward when someone cries near me, I don't even know what to d,o ad, when it comes to girls,w well,o u can say? Amam tAm I clueless?
When I heard the sound of a siren, I teared up. I'm so happy to hear ike I am now.
They take the unconscious rapist on a stretcher, before they came for the victim.
Sirrw whatat happened here?" they question me.
