"Well, I was going home from school before I heard her screams.
I did what any sane person would: I went to her rescue.
Besides that, I don't know what happened, I just kinda moved on instinct."
The police man nods, " Thanks for that. You're a good citizen."
The other policemen helped put her on a stretcher. *I don't know her name, and I didn't bother about it.. I don't think I will meet her again.*
"Thank you, son, you can now go home," he says, walking towards his car. I stand watching as the police vehicles and the ambulance leave.
"Am home!" I shout.
I know my mom will be home by now, and I wasn't wrong.
"Darlin, why are you late for school?" I hear her ask from the study, I think?
I ignore her as I walk towards my room.
The events of the day still replay as if on repeat mode.
I still can't believe I hit someone on the head.
It's still as if I'm dreaming all that. I can't even believe I did half of what I think I did. It's just totally unbelievable.
l walk to my cupboard and take out the drawing book from it.
I draw whenever I feel off. Looking through the book made me smile. I only draw pictures of werewolves, and I mean the sexy ones.
Started drawing them when I turned ten.
That was the time I started feeling drawn to the creatures.
My mom always jokes that maybe God will give me a werewolf as a partner.
Yeah, I'mm gay, and proudly one.
I am religious and all, but my mum made it clear that it doesn't matter who you love.
What matters is what you do.
I look at the drawings.
Since last year, I've been repeatedly drawing a particular grey werewolf, and mind you, he's sexy.
The mesmerizing thing about him is his golden eyes.
I start drawing the now familiar werewolf.
Recently, the drawing has taken a clearer colour, and I love it.
It seems strange, but I can swear that I have been hearing their howls for like_ two days now.
"Darling, you look off, "my mom says as she walks into my room. There's something called knocking.
Remember that before you barge in," I scold my mom, although I know it's of no use as she will still repeat it.
"Don't try changing the topic, young man," my mum says in her mom's voice.
Oh man, I'm in trouble.
Having no choice at all, I narrate to her the incidents of the day.
"Oh my blessed heartWhatat a horrible experience for an innocent girl," she touched her heart.
I don't get her sometimes, she didn't remember my heroic act,s all she was concerned about was the girl ( don't get me wrong, ong I feel for her, but come on, man, a guy needs his ego spooked a little).
"Your lunch is ready," she tearily left the room, and I regret telling her. I mean, it would have been better if she didn't know.
I change my uniform as I head to the dining hall to eat.
Still no words from Dave.
I hear my mum's laughter as I head towards the dining room.
The sound of laughter is one I've not heard in like forever. Aside from the ones she gives out when we're together, I've not heard her laugh so unbridled.
I cautiously walk towards her.
As I don't want to disturb them. Who knows who her visitor is?
"I then looked at her and said bugger off" I freeze when I hear the voice.
What's Dave doing here after he ditched me for his friends?
I ignore him as I walk into the kitchen, peck my mom, and head to my side to eat my dinner in painful peace.
My mom looks at me as if she can't comprehend how she gave birth to someone like me.
"Manue, didn't you see we have a visitor?"
I ignore her as I continue to eat.
Am I the only one here? Can't she ask Dave if he didn't see me?
Why must she pick on only me?
"Daniel Manuel Chidi, don't you dare ignore my questions," Mom angrily says.
Jesus Christ, I'mm in real trouble.
Whenever my mom makes use of my full name, I know I'm in hot soup.
Dave chuckles, seriously, who does that? I feel like murdering him here and now, feel that someone??
Luckily for me, Dave came to my rescue. It's noth, fa,u lt ma, I am the one at fault here, I stood him up after school."
"He should have said so, but he's still at fault.
I didn't teach him to be disrespectful," mymumu, iously embarrassed about my behaviour.
"You two better make up, as I don't want two grumpy teenagers in my house, "Mumm says as she walks towards her study.
When she's out of sight, I turn my back on Dave, and I resumed eating (I'm not one to play with my food).
"I'm sorry, something came up so I had to ditch. Please believe me when I say it's not my fault. Am sorry for what it's worth."
I have forgotten him here, I mean it.
Wait..... He called me Dan.
No one has ever called me that.
I pretend not to have heard as I start humming.
I feel his presence before he touched me( it's not the erotic type), but my racing heart couldn't tell the difference.
He moved back so fast I couldn't make it out.
I was surprised by the change in him.
"I'm sorry if I did anything to make you afraid of me, but seriously, I want us to be friends and I promise not to ditch you again." He pleads.
I feel sorry for him.
He's been pleading since,a nd I, on the other hand ,sat on the chair like a spoiled princess(although h am not one).
"It's ok if you promise not to do it again".
He smiles, the first genuine smile I have seen from him, "No p bro", he says as he hits me on the back.
Although it was painful, I swallowed my cries.
"So what do you say?? Should we go to my room so we can start the tutoring?"
"Yeah, that's a good idea," He agrees.
I took some snacks and two bottles of soft drinks as I led the way to my room.
