"That's enough, please," Finn folded his hands, standing in between the tw, before they tore each other apart. One had a sharp mouth and could make a mess, and the other was a silent person and could do worse. If he did not intervene soon, his office would be turned into a battlefield.
Ravenna looked away from Alaric with a sneer, while the man just looked at her dangerously. He could feel anger rising inside him after a long time of not having shed any blood. His hands were itching to strangle her, but also tame her till she was on her knees begging for mercy.
"Venna, will you please wait for me outside, dear. I got something to discuss with Alaric." Finn added, feeling that tension getting worse, especially with the look on his brother, he knew he had tolerated enough, and one more word from Ravenna, someone would get hurt.
"Fine." Ravenna stomped out of the office, deliberately colliding with Alaric's arm as she walked out.
Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, she did not see the change in the man's eyes that flashed from black to dark red with an intent to kill someone, but Finn stopped him before he could go after her.
"Don't mind her. She's just unaware," Finn smiled, but this time, the smile did not reach his eyes, while his lively mood was gone, replaced by a serious expression, as he gestured for him to sit on the couch inside his office.
"Then you should warn her. Next time I won't hear a word," Alaric stated, sipping a red liquid given to him by Finn.
"I will," Finn said beside him with a sigh, unable to figure out how to tell him what he wanted.
"Out with it, I don't have much time!" Sensing his hesitation, Alaric said, more like ordered, leaning on the couch while staring at the roof with an expressionless gaze.
"I'll be out of the country for some days, so I need someone to keep a watch on her for a few days." Finn knew what he was asking was a bit too much, but he had to. It was a must!
"No!" Came Alaric's fast reply before standing up, ready to leave.
"I wouldn't have asked you if I had another option," Finn stood up in lightning speed and blocked Alaric's way.
Alaric let out a low, animalistic growl, his eyes flashing with colors, but Finn did not move away, even though he was in pain, being tormented in his mind by Alaric. His head was spinning, and he felt like collapsing, but still withheld the pain, determined to accomplish his plan.
"You can find someone else," Alaric's answer was firm. How could he keep a watch on that noisy human when all she did was anger him to death and awaken desires he had completely forgotten about? What if he ended up killing her because of his anger issues? With the slightest provocation, he could drain every blood drop in her, leaving her lifeless without a care.
"Who? You mean Zander? She just escaped from him in the training camp." Finn's words surprised Alaric, but he was able to mask his shock well. A feeling of amusement, imagining how the little devil was able to escape from that hell. She was more capable than he thought.
"What's special about her?"
Finn understood the meaning behind his question, but he could not answer that. Not yet.
"If you don't wish to answer, then you can keep her with you," Alaric chose his words well knowing this would make Finn tell him what he wanted to know. He was getting curious about the girl, seeing how protective and secretive Finn was being.
Finn rubbed his nose bridge before replying, "Recently, someone has been tracking her whereabouts, and after looking into it, I found out it's the Silver Pack."
The air inside the room dropped, and the cracking of bones echoed. "Why?"
Finn sighed, feeling a slight fear knowing the deep hatred Alaric harbored for werewolves, especially that particular pack.
"I'm not sure. I believe she's somehow connected to them because when I met her, she had their scents and even thought she was one of them, but she's fully human. After the accident, I hit her with my car, and she lost her memories and did not even remember her name. What she had was a bracelet written Ravenn, that's why she's called that. I took her to the camp, and she has been living there for the past two years, working on missions given. She's Zander's favorite student and ran away two days ago. A few months back, a man came to the city looking for her with her photo, and he was from the Silver Pack, but he disappeared before we could get to him."
After the monologue, silence enveloped the office as the two were lost in thought.
"Are you sure she's not a spy?" Alaric asked, full of suspicion.
"I thought so at first, but I can assure you she's not. Those animals despise weak creatures and would not have a human as their spy."
Alaric's eyes turned blank again, agreeing with Finn's logic. The werewolves despised weak beings, and it was very rare for them to even associate with humans. Not that he liked them that much, especially a particular devil he had encountered the previous night. He remembered how she almost hit him with a vase if not for his speed. The way she interrogated him then to the point where she touched his bare chest, trying to stop him from entering her bedroom. Her curses towards him were still resonating in his mind vividly.
"Crazy she is," he unconsciously murmured under his breath, his lips rising a little.
"Who is crazy?" Finn asked, confused by his remark.
Alaric snapped out instantly and then cleared his throat. "I me, what if I end up killing that crazy girl? She talks too much and argues a lot."
Finn chuckled, patting Alaric's shoulder. "I guess it's because you started on the wrong foot. She is usually very sweet, calm, and fun to be with..." He paused, leaning towards Alaric's ear. "A little secret. She has a weakness when it comes to handsome men. If you can charm her, then it wouldn't be difficult to tame her."
AAlaric's eyes widened, then he remembered something from the previous night. Her gaze on him seemed what not right, though she portrayed anger on the surface. So, she did get lost in him.
"Interesting. Very interesting." Alaric smiled devilishly as he devised a wicked plan on how to get back at her for messing with him. Charming her? That was too easy, seducing would be the right word, now that he knew her secret. "Then I won't mind looking after her for a few days."
Finn felt pity for Ravenna, but then, that was the only choice he had. Though what he had told Alaric about the people looking for her was true, that was just half the truth. He was more than capable of protecting her from those people and was aware that Alaric knew it, and to his relief, he did not question him anymore.
"Finn, are you done? Starving to death out here," Ravenna's voice from outside caught the attention of the two.
Finn laughed while Alaric shook his head, feigning irritation. "Oh, one more thing. She loves food more than her life."
If only he knew what trouble he was putting Ravenna into. Alaric memorized every single detail, already planning on how to torture her.
"Welcome to hell, Miss Raven."
