Eilir couldn't hold back anymore, tears gleaming in her eyes as she choked up, "Atius, don't lie to me, are my parents really still alive?"
Atius nodded, "Tomorrow, I'll accompany you to see for yourself."
Eilir silently wept, too moved to speak.
As she had said, she had never experienced the familial affection that a family brings in these past twenty or so years.
But that didn't mean Eilir didn't yearn for it.
That night, Eilir tossed and turned in bed.
Nidawi, snuggled in her arms, asked curiously, "Mommy, can't you sleep?"
Eilir kissed Nidawi's face gently, "Nidawi, shall we go to the provincial city tomorrow?"
Nidawi's attention, however, was on her own face; she giggled and pointed at her cheek with her chubby little finger, "Mommy, daddy likes to kiss Nidawi too."
Eilir paused, then tickled Nidawi's armpit, and Nidawi immediately burst into giggles.
The next morning.
Calandra parked a silver BMW in the open space in front of the house.
Seeing Atius come out holding Nidawi, Calandra tossed the keys to Atius, teasing, "You found Eilir's biological parents, that's a merit for you."
"We're going to meet your in-laws, after all. You've got to have some face, so I'm lending you this car for a while."
Saying this, Calandra's expression turned serious, "Don't let Weiwei down."
Atius nodded his thanks, placed Nidawi in the car, and fastened her seatbelt.
Eilir then walked out from the house, hugged Calandra, and also got into the car.
Calandra's eyes reddened, "Eilir, remember to bring Nidawi back to see me often, I'll come to the provincial city when I have time."
Eilir couldn't help but laugh through her tears, "I didn't say I'd stay in the provincial city and not come back."
Gillespie, Nereus, and Indivar also came to the car, laughing, "Mr. Atius Seymour, we'll take care of the gifts your comrades sent for Nidawi. You can come back for them anytime."
Atius nodded, "Then I'll leave it to you three."
With that, Atius gently pressed the accelerator, and the car began to move.
On the road.
Eilir looked out the window at the rapidly passing scenery, her eyes filled with nervousness.
She suddenly asked, "Atius, do you think my parents will accept me?"
Atius hummed softly, "Certainly."
Provincial City.
Damir looked at the newspaper in his hands, a trace of resentment in his gaze.
Old Master Lazar watered the flowers in the yard, saying, "Building a Magpie Bridge Palace on Magpie Bridge Mountain to transform it into a private domain is quite the grand move."
Damir snorted, "It's a pity to use Magpie Bridge Mountain that way. If it were developed into a tourist attraction, it could bring in at least five hundred million a year."
Lazar shook his head, "Damir, you're not seeing the big picture, so naturally, you don't understand others' thoughts."
"Do you think that mysterious boss, who can even command a Heaven Rank expert like Mr. Jacobs, would care about money?"
"Enough," Lazar said sternly, "go find Poseidon. Take on this project for free, even if it means giving back the three billion from the land sale, we must exceed expectations."
Damir clenched his fists but could only nod and then drove towards the Poseidon Group.
What he didn't expect was that the heads of dozens of construction companies within the province had already arrived at Poseidon Group, and moreover, top companies from across the Red Dragon Kingdom were continuously arriving.
At Poseidon Group's press conference, the terms offered were to ignore the budget, spend as much as needed, and the selected companies would also receive a bonus of one billion.
In fact, the no-budget directive came from Atius, while the one billion bonus was voluntarily offered by Poseidon and Olatunde.
Damir was horrified to find that many companies present were renowned both domestically and internationally, far stronger than his nearly bankrupt Damir Real Estate, by more than ten or a hundred times.
In the conference room.
Poseidon and Olatunde sat together, discussing the proposals from various companies.
As Damir walked in, Olatunde laughed.
"Poseidon, it seems Damir can't let go of Magpie Bridge Mountain, but sadly, he doesn't have the capability to undertake this project."
Poseidon nodded and, out of politeness, still took the proposal that Damir brought.
But after only a glance, Poseidon frowned.
Because the proposal Poseidon brought obviously matched his vision better.
Especially the blueprint of Magpie Bridge Palace, truly beautiful, as if it was not of this world.
Poseidon snorted, "Years ago when I secured the development rights for Magpie Bridge Mountain, I've been pondering the plan. This proposal is my painstaking effort, not something other companies can compare to."
Poseidon nodded, getting straight to the point, "Mr. Yates, I do prefer your proposal, but... forgive my frankness, with the current capability of Damir Real Estate, I'm afraid it's not up to completing this project."
"Let's do this, I'll show your proposal to Mr. Jacobs and see what he says."
Damir felt greatly humiliated and didn't want to stay a moment longer; he turned and strode away.
Olatunde narrowed his eyes, "Damir has some skills, but he's too proud, and he hasn't reached the height where he can afford to be."
Poseidon hummed, stood up, and said, "I've taken all of your proposals, the results will be communicated to you as soon as possible."
After more pleasantries, the crowd dispersed.
Soon after, Kaladin arrived at Poseidon Group.
He reviewed all the proposals and then called Atius.
Unexpectedly, upon hearing that Damir had also submitted a proposal, Atius decided on the spot, "Use Damir's proposal, let him be the chief person in charge, and also select five of the strongest companies to be responsible for the construction."
Kaladin nodded and conveyed Atius's decision to Poseidon.
The Yates family.
After Damir returned, he was visibly downcast. Old Master Lazar knew at a glance that he had been defeated.
Calum, while sweeping the yard, said, "A blessing in disguise, a misfortune lurking within."
"Damir, if you lose your fighting spirit now, then it's you giving up on yourself."
Before Damir could respond, Poseidon briskly walked into the yard.
He snorted coldly and turned to go inside.
Lazar, however, greeted Poseidon with a smile.
Poseidon nodded with a smile, "Old Master, I've brought you some good news."
Lazar chuckled bitterly, "What good news could there be?"
Poseidon got straight to the point, "Damir's proposal has been approved. The client has decided to appoint Damir as the chief person in charge, with the five largest real estate groups in the country handling the construction specifics!"
Inside the house.
Hearing this, Damir trembled, stepped out, and stared wide-eyed, "Poseidon, are you not deceiving me?"
Poseidon smiled, "I've brought the contract; you better sign it quickly."
Moments later, Poseidon left, and Damir looked at the contract in his hands, speechless for a long time.
"No, I have to rush to Poseidon Group immediately, to call a meeting with the leaders of the five major companies!"
Just a few minutes after Damir left, a silver BMW parked at the entrance of the yard.
Atius got out of the car, lifted Nidawi out, and pointed to the yard, "Nidawi, this is great-grandfather's home."
Nidawi clapped her hands excitedly, "Nidawi has a great-grandfather too, daddy, Nidawi is so happy!"
Atius nodded with a smile, looking at Eilir, who was sitting nervously in the car, "Eilir, get out of the car, don't be afraid."
Eilir got out of the car with a nervous face, standing behind Atius, unwilling to step forward.
Atius, holding Nidawi, knocked on the door.
Unable to contain her excitement, Nidawi shouted towards the yard, "Great-grandfather, great-grandfather are you home? Nidawi has come to see you!"
In the yard, Lazar was about to play chess with Calum when he heard the shouting outside, his face full of confusion, "Whose child is that?"
Calum stood up, "I'll go take a look."
With that, Calum went to the door, opened a crack, and his gaze fell on Atius and Nidawi in his arms.
Nidawi's eyes widened with curiosity, "Great-grandfather, are you Nidawi's great-grandfather?"
Calum smiled and shook his head, looking at Atius, "You've got the wrong house."
Atius smiled and shook his head, "We haven't."
Calum frowned, his peripheral vision suddenly catching sight of Eilir standing behind Atius.
With just one glance, Calum's stooped body trembled, astonishment flashing in his eyes.
"You!" Calum's eyes instantly brimmed with tears, and he turned to shout into the yard, "Lazar, come out quickly!"
"What's the matter?" Lazar came to the door with a chess box, "Calum, what's..."
His words trailed off as the chess box fell from his hands, scattering the pieces everywhere.
Lazar rushed to Eilir, shaking with excitement.
He looked at Eilir's familiar face, tears welling up in his eyes, his mouth opening to say something, but no words came out.
Seeing Lazar's reaction, Eilir also felt relieved and choked up, "Grandpa."
