On her side, he lay in bed, her honey blonde hair sted c lessly on the pillow, a beautiful sleeper who, by now, still can't hear the alarm as it echoed through the entire building.
Slowly, she made body movements that indicated she was emerging from he unconscious, her eyes struggling to open ill yet with the alarm clock vibrating on her bedside table. She rolled her
eyes.
"Okay...okay…" she voiced out in an exhausted tone as she reached for the clock and turned it off.
"Fu******k," she whispered as she suddenly held onto the side of her forehead. She blinks her eyes in a bid to shake off the pain. Just then, her phone rang. Her eyes told her it wasn't on the table. She
tried to focus on the direction the sound was emitted from, but in her head, she could hear the ringtone almost everywhere.
"Come on…." She falls back on the bed, frustrated, holding on to her head with one arm, and she uses the other to search for the phone as it keeps ringing. She had to move her body to the other end
of the bed till she saw two phones vibrating on the floor carpet. She shuts her eyes and opens them again, and picks up the phone that lies alone.
"Hello.." she breathed out.
"What the. . Gir, do not tell me you are still in bed. I told you you had had enough last night, but you would rather be a dipsomaniac. " The feminine voice over the phone spoke rather displeased.
"M, do not judge me ...I just had a few necessary glasses and that was it, and I am not drunk. I just have a headache, and your nagging will do me no good," she replies, crawling tiredly back to the other
end of the bed, and finally, she lay her head on the pillow slowly.
"April, he wasn't worth it, he wasn't even worth your love that nigga right from the start only saw you as a sex doll," Molly stressed. 2
"I loved him."
"You guys practically saw today and are going next tomorrow".
"Mo, drop this, please. I don't need anyone preaching to me at the moment."
"Honnie, you sure are gonnafindd true love in the right place. I just need you to give these men something else to see about you. Go on. Get some pain killer and get ready for your interview".
April pulls the phone from her ear.
"Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh Sh ********t t" she unvoiced as she got off the bed hurriedly and tiptoed, holding her head to the bathroom. She placed the phone on the space next to the wash basin, leaving it on speaker.
"I know you forgot," Mo adds in a taunting tone.
"I did not forget, ok? I just had a lot to process," she replied hurriedly, getting paste on her toothbrush, and proceeded to brush.
"Oh yes, of course. Just be safe for me out there, ok? You will do good. Call me when it's over. Love you," Mo ended the call. April spat in the basin and, with a hand, moved her hair backward, staring at her reflection in the mirror before her.
"Love you too". She muttered.
Soon enough, she was out of the apartment. She walked down to the bus stop and got on the bus. She sat by a window, staring at the world moving behind he; she was lost in it. She shut her eyes and
took a deep breath. Opening her eyes, she saw a car beside the bus by her window as the traffic light was red. There was a lady in the driver's seat with the seat belt strapped across her chest. The
lady turned her head slightly towards the backseat, staring at the two little ones who happened to be her babies. They gave a very adorable smile back at their mom, whose lips seemed to have said
something she couldn't hear. The lad turned again, placing her hands back on the stereo. She looked happy. April's eyes rested on her hands, and her silver diamond wedding ring became visible. It
looked beautiful and fit perfectly on her finger. The light turned green, and cars started moving. April's countenance had somewhat changed, but she managed to hide it so well while the car drove past them.
She stared at her fingers, but soon snapped out of it.
Alighting from the bus, she held up her hand for a taxi and hurriedly got into an empty one. She soon arrived at her destination. From the taxi, she stared at the massive building in tinted glasses from top to
bottom. The building was about ten storeys ta, and at the top of it were bold letters that read "STACE BRAN She paid off the taxi driver and walked into the premises of the building. Getting a lot of stares, but not as much as when she got inside. She wore navy blue color pencil high waist pants and a tucked-in white satin sleeve shirt on which she had let loose two buttons to reveal her silver chain
pendant. Her height and perfect steps in grey pumps make her noticeable as she swings her black handbag in rhythm to her steps. Her hair was neatly and firmly held together behind her head, further revealing her flat forehead and pointy nose. A lot of eyes were on her now, but her confidence remained unshaken.
Hello, good morning", she greeted the lady in the front office with a smile.
"Good morning, how may I help you?" The receptionist responded with a smile.
"Oh yes, please, I am April Smith, am here for an interview."
"You are a bit late, I'm afraid."
"I know you can do something," April pleaded receptionist looked at her for a bit and smiled, almost like she could relate.
"I'll try. Just have a seat over there," she said, pointing her hand in a direction.
"Thank you.." April replied, walking over to take a seat. She seemed to be the only one who was waiting. She sees the receptionist on the intercom, and her eyes met those ith a lot of workers and customers, mostly males, who seem to have been staring at her.
"Dickheads" she muttered, turning her face away.
"April Smith ?" The receptionist called. She walks back to the reception desk.
" Please use the elevator over there, second floor, Manager's office", she adds.
"I owe you, " April replied as they both exchanged warm smiles.
Confused, she knocks on the door.
"Come in ", she heard a masculine voice speak from the inside. She entered and was welcomed by the lovely fragrance that embraced the entire room. She saw a Man in a nice suit as he stood looking
outside the very large window with his hands crossed behind his lower back. She slowly shuts the door and moves a few inches from it.
In three months, his company was built. In a year, it stands out. Do you think any of it was possible if the watchword was unpunctuality?" The Man spoke from where he stood.
"I am so, so sorry, sir.. I got caught up in something, and I assure you it will never happen again," she apologized.d
"Hmm. Excuses and promises. First impression." He voiced.
"Oh gosh.. this guy is so getting on my nerves right now. Who does he think he is? Being so cool, calm, with that tone and voice like he is some kinda protagonist of a movie. Like I just said, I'm sorry, get
over it already, dude, you hiring me or not? If my apologies ain't enough for you,u just turn around and fuckn look at me. It's always been enough for every male manager and boss I worked for."
She voiced in her head. And almost like he heard, he turns towards her with a smirk on his face that makes his dimple obvious. Fear gripped hard on her hard in that instant. He walks closer to where she stood, nd she is mesmerized by his charm. Her mind plays it all in a slow mo: his short, wavy hair, his full brows and deep blue eyes, his perfect pointy nose and lips to die for. His face, his neatly shaped
bebeardshe remained lost for words. Her eyes slowly caught the open lining on his shirt that revealed his chest, she imagined water drops dripping down on it, the lovely fragrance became stronge it
smelt like the sweetest melody was a flower and he was the tree .she felt like he was coming to plant soft wet kisses on her neck but then he proceeds to shut the door properly behind her. In shock from
tsoundu, she is called back to reality.
"Have your seat if you will, let's get on with the interview." He said, returning to his seat.
"Ye-es sir," she replied as she nervously sat on one of the chairs, unpacking her files with shaky hands.
