Busy with work, she observed she was still getting peeps from the male staff whose space was about hers. She rolled her eyes and breathed out, biting her lips, and she placed her fingers back on the
keyboard. She got an incoming call on her intercom and took it. After a few seconds, she got up, picked some papers, and placed them in a file as she headed for the elevator.
Approaching a door, she
Leaves two knocks on it.
'Come in'
The voice of a man spoke from the inside.
Holding the file in her hand, she pushes the door open, and as she steps in, she shuts it behind her. The office was large and exotic, the decor was high-class, the room seemed to have its own scent, but
Stace seemed to overwhelm the entire space. She sees Stace sitting in his chair, deeply engrossed in whatever it is he was doing on his system, behind him was a large glass window that gave an
amazing view of almost the entire city.
'You called, sir,' she said, having walked to his table. Still focused on his work, he voiced.
'Yes. sit'
She took a seat, staring at him with a straight face. He moves on now to flipping through some paperwork as he picks up his pen.
'Men.. I wonder how they do it. Why flirt with a woman when you have another?' she contemplated in her head. Stace paused his writing. Almost like he heard her, he lifted his face to hers.
'Are you ….ok…?' He asked. Surprised and almost immediately, she replied
'Yes, I am'
Not satisfied with the response, he went forward to ask again.
'Are you sure…? because you currently look like you would want to hit me with a bat'
'I am very well, thank you, sir. Never mind my facial makeup, as women, our hormones are mostly all over the place, so you know, mood swings. It's nothing.
'Hmm. I see' he responded.
'Very well then, your director informed me of your work. May I see them?' He added.
'Oh yes, definitely, sir'
April presented it to him.
Going through them, he looks at her, and she looks away.
'These are great designs.. How is it possible that this is your first time working in a fashion company?' He asked. She looked back at him and broke the silence.
'Like I told you yesterday, I just never wanted to'
'And like I didn't ask yesterday, why?' He dropped the papers on the desk, resting his back on the chair as he looked at her inquisitively.
She took a while, but then breathed out.
'Growing up, my mom and dad noticed I was pretty good at drawing and painting. Mostly, how I designed clothes with my pen and paper, they assumed it was my calling, my destiny. Fashion is a classic
business, so they pretty much wanted the glory, I guess, and I practically spent a lot of my years hating that I had to study something I didn't want to.
'And what would you have loved instead?'
'I dunno. Was good at too much. I didn't know where to stand.
'So you hated fashion because it wasn't something you chose to do but something you were forced to do, but it's something you had a potential for, hence you went back to study something entirely
different? '
She remained mute. He saw her face change as her eyes looked downwards.
'It's okay. Sometimes, we find happiness in places we never wanted to be' he continued.
'All I need is for you to get your head in the game. ' He stressed.
'You don't have to run anymore, ' he concluded with a smile. She saw his dimples appear on both sides of his cheek, and she slowly smiled back, trying to hide the blush.
At that moment, someone barged in on them, and Stace slowly pulled backwards to his chair.
'You may get back to work. Leave these with me' he said to April.
'Yes, sir,' she replied as she stood up and turned to leave. Her eyes caught with Luna's.
'Good da,y, ma'am,' she greeted as she exited the office.
Luna doesn't respond to her greeting but instead turns back towards Stace, who by now is rubbing his fingers on his forehead.
'What is your problem, Luna?' He asked in a low but frustrated tone. She smiled, walking closer to where he sat.
'I am still your fiancé. We are just going through a rough time, every couple does, but then they work it out' she said.
'If you still have the title of being my fiancée, it's because I do not need a scandal. Our fashion show is around the corner, and aside from that, we have more pressing issues going on that endanger
everyone. For once in your life, be selfless ' he stressed as he stood up from his seat.
'Don't you miss me at all?' She replied, trying to touch his face. He turns away.
'I missed you. I missed you all those nights and days when you left me! I missed you .' He said, turning his face to hers.
'But you chose to be with Titrus instead when I found you in his bed! My brother !!' He barked at her face. Her eyes shut in fright.
'It was a mistake,' she said.
'It wasn't. You left!'
'You lost the fight!' She barked back.
'He poisoned me!'He stressed.
'And just when I needed you to be there for me. You chose the line instead! He barked, turning away in frustration, he continued.
'We were going to get married for Christ's sake. I thought you loved me! But no! He turned back towards her.
'I do!'
'You don't!. Your ambitions come before anything else. Alone, I healed and I got back on my feet, strong enough I fought, and regained my glory, and what perfect timing, you realise you still love me?
Where is your shame and dignity?. You have lost it. You say it was a mistake? Well, I am glad you made this mistake; if you hadn't, I would never have realised that marrying you would have been the
biggest mistake of my life!'
Luna moved closer to where he stood.
'I made a mistake. We all make mistakes. I am sorry. I have apologised a thousand times already. I am not perfect, nor are you! Just…' She quickly locks his lips with hers, but then he pushes her off
And she falls onto one of the chairs.
'Do not provoke me!' He warned sternly. 'Between you and him. It was you who betrayed me. Blood will always remain blood, but you will never become my wife. Grab hold of reality. Henceforth, you will
do as I say or I will damn this whole thing and let the whole world know what manner of a whore you are!' He continued. She got up and in that instant slapped him with teary eyes.
'How dare you?! I forgave you when you slept with the fuc*kn maid! No one heard about it. I love you! But do not make me mad, ohh, you know how I get when I am mad ! . You are only hurting, and I
understand, but you just have to let me heal you, we can be as we once were, you still love me, I know you do. You can't stop loving me. I am forever in your heart.'
Stace smirked.
'You should know better than to threaten me, and if indeed this was a payback, I'm sorry you went too far. And stop using words you know nothing about. Go find yourself another Alpha to use's done playing your games. Now let this be the last time you barge into my office like that. You are lucky I still let you work here till after the show, do not push me. ' He warned.
'Now, leave me offi HeHe he ordered.
She stood there looking him in the eyes for a while and then slowly turned to leave.
Stepping out of the building, she climbed down the few stairs and stood awaiting an au. She felt her phone vibrating in her handbag, and she made a move to get it out. The wind became stiff it was
going to pour. Just then, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO stopped in front of her. Surprised as to why, she became distracted from what she was about to do. The driver's seat window glass slowly wound down.
'Need a ride?'.
