Minutes earlier ..
Stepping out of the shower cabin, water dripped down his entire body. He had wrapped a towel around his waist and proceeded into the room. Almost immediately, he heard two knocks on the door.
Curious as to who it was, he turned towards it.
"Who is it?" He asked in a loud, stern voice.
"It's lupus.. ". A voice replied from behind the door. He seemed to have recognized the voice. He unwrapped the towel and slipped into his bathrobe, heading for the knob.
"The meeting is over. Stace voiced while he held the door open. Standing there was a young man who seemed to be in his late teens. He had blonde hair and was in baggy clothes. He looked pretty
much like the kid who got bullied a lot in school, and as his eyes met Stace's, guilt screamed out of his body.
"Yes, Alpha Stace.. I just .. something burdens my heart.". Lupus spoke.
"Hmm...does it?". Stace had asked him while boring his eyes at him for a bit.
"Come on in then". He instructed, turning towards the bed.
"Go on.. don't just stand there, unburden yourself ". He added as e sat on one of the chairs that rested some inches away from the royal bed. Lupus's eyes scattered around the room, and they seemed to
meet with something that held them spellbound. The room was magnificent, absolutely artistic and dumbfounding to behold, but he didn't expect anything less, and so he slowly paced to where Stace sat and made a move to sit on the chair that was opposite him He noticed Stace had his eyes fixed on him, making the atmosphere uncomfortable for him. His eyes fell on the large window that was beside the,
and he could see the large land space that lay bare through it.Itt was beautiful to see. He retrieved his eyes and tried looking back at Stace, but they would blink away nervously. It was as though his entire
being was breaking down brick by brick right there, and he knew it was obvious enough for anyone to have noticed.
"It's about Eric.. " Lupus muttered.
"Oh.. Eric, your friend, the strange one."
"Yes... He replied.
"Okay.. what about him?"
Stace asked, relaxing his back on the grey striped accent chair a,, almost like he perceived the conversation was going to be a long one.
"He's gone out of control.. I tried to stop him, but it's already too late, I guess. " Lupus spoke with his eyes buried in the table.
"And what about him?". Stace asked.
"No one knows... It was our secret. He made me swear I would never tell when we became friends.. but..he ... he has a brother…. a vampire..."
Lupus spoke rather unsure of what could become of him. He realized Stace's eyes had dimmed at the mention of a "vampire", and his back had left the comfort of the chair he sat on
"A vampire.." Stace repeated. Lupus could tell Stace was capable of the woworstHe was new to the pack, but he heard the tales. He knew he had been treasonous, and he knew Stace could shape shift at will. he wasn't subject to the rules of transformation like he was and the others.
"Yes.. Rufus.. is his name. Eric does whatever he asks. He would rather feed on female blood, and he makes Eric provide the females. " Lupus spoke in fear.
Shocked by the confession, Stace blinked his eyes, turning his face away and heaving a sigh in amazement.
"How long has this been up?". He asked, taking his face back to Lupus's.
Lupus could tell he was upset, hence he thought hard before letting any words escape from his lips, but as his conscience would have it..
"Thr… three months.." he voiced.
"Three months!!!" Stace barked, springing up on his feet.
"I am sorry.. I thought it was going to end, it began with just one girl." Lupus panicked .
"You thought it was going to end?!"
"There is more…" Lupus muttered.
"Oh, there is more…. Stace repeated breathing out.
"Get up ". He ordered.
Lupus rushed up from the chair.
"You were saying.." Stace enquired as he moved closer to him, they were standing eye to eye. Lupus's eyes were unstable because he trembled at the sight of Stace and his confession.
"Speak!". Stace barked.
"Rufus!... Rufus.. he introduced Eric to drinking human blood.. he is obsessed now, and it's Rufus' birthday today, they hope to celebrate somewhere, and he said it promises to be a Red one. I swear that's
all I know.. I don't know where..". He stuttered.
"Now? Last time I checked, he is your friend. Of Course, you know where, and you are gonna tell me.". Stace assured him.
A gulp came to Lupus's throat, and he swallowed it down as his heart raced. Stace had his eyes locked on his, which made him shiver.
Presently…
"Where are you?".
He asked further, his countenance changed, almost like he worried or feared the worst.
"Oh, I am at a diner with Mo.. " She lied.
"I need an address". Stace insisted.
"You are being bossy...,. he told him.
"I have the time for this April. Where are you? I need an address ". Stace replied, her rationale.
"Woah..woah.. you are not my dad to wanna control my movements or know my whereabouts, I don't owe you such details so don't come at me with that attitude," April warned.
"Can you just stop ok? Ple,ase.." He sprungsprangom his bed almost immediately .
"Once, put aside your stubbornness. I do not have intentions of being your Da, but I do have intentions of ensuring your safety. So if yo u would, give me an address . The road isn't safe tonight. It's not
out on the news yet, but I have my sources " . Stce added.
April remained silent, almost, lshe hadrun out of lies herr lips moved without words, and her eyes grew bigger, l li he had been found guilty by a judge . Thee Table.
"Oh..so sorry I kept you waiting.."
April voiced as she returned to her seat.
"No it's fine.. reallyy.. " Dave responded with a smile.
"I see you finished your food" . She told him.
"Yea and I see you yoYeahh, haven't touched yours.. if your appet. Ifs small, I get it..t It's pretty expensive." He shrugged. April smiled.
"I'm sorry. . . " She apologized.
"Everything okay?" He asked her.
"Oh yes.. yes ..why?"
"I don't know.. you seem kind of worried about something..?"
"Naah.. am okay.. It's jI'm t.. Mo..It's isn't well.. she needs me .."
"Right now?". Dave asked rather displeased.
"Yes..right now… I really gotta go… this was really nice.. I'm with your company and appreciate that you let me in.. "
"It's fi.... we should do this again sometime.." Dave insisted, reaching for her hand on the table.
"Oh ..pssh ..sure.., she replied to him as she made a move to get up on her feet.
"Why the hurry?.. she'll be okay.. "
He assured her.
"I'll settle the bills and give you a ride".
He added, as he beckoned to the waiter to come over to the table.
"Oh no no.. you don't have to...I'll be fine on my own.. besideBesidesn't want her getting upset on seeing you, you know.."
Just then the waiter arrived and he cleared the bill.
"It's fine.. it's late, I just want to keep you safe. I insist. " Dave told her while she faked a smile.
Stace's room.
"Can't believe this has been happening right under our nose, the traitors must be punished"
Wal. ter vented as he stormed into Stace's room.
"I wonder how many enemies within remain unknown".
Sace voiced, he had a glass of wine in his right hand and his other hand in his trouser pocket .
"Have you cleared her?" Walter asked.
"She isn't there, said she is at Swan's diner" . Stace is pacing towards the large window.
"You don't believe her."
" She doesn't have to be a wolf for me to read her mind. She is a terrible liar. What I don't get is why she would lie to me?" Stace replied, sipping from his glass as he stared out the window.
"Alpha Stace, you need a clear head, I have got word from the men, they have surrounded the Blue Sea Restaurant, we should be on our way as soon as possible, matters of the heart can wait''. Walter
advised.
I am sick and tired of this insane roller coaster life. These humans we risk our lives to protect could take care of themselves but they are mo, re obsessed with money and power. "
Stace replied, having sipped from his glass.
"No one subjected you to this. You chose to be the good guy, and i,t's a good thing. There is honor in good ". Walter encouraged him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Blue Sea Restaurant.."
Dave voiced as he took his eyes up to the Signboard from where he stood .
"The food was good…". He added, bringing his fa,ce to April's. She smiled at him.
"Guess I'm the only one without a testimony, " She joked.
"Yes, you are, that was good food... .in there, and you let it go to waste, I hope someone eats it and not a dog."
Dave responded as they both shared a laugh.
"It's cold out here. April voiced slowly, rubbing her arm with her other hand, searching for Dave's car with her eyes.
" You know.. I see why you can't spend the night over at mplacece" . . oiced.
"Because Mo is sick …" she reminded him.
"Oh.. yeah,h Mo.. the one friend you have that never liked me"
" Come on, you know what happened to the one that liked you"
April replied to him.
He smiled and fixed his eyes back on her.
"I guess I will have to start praying to God then. He said
"And why is that ?". April asked with a rather attentive look.
"So he wipes away the memory of what happened from your head, and you'll be mine again.. with no pain to remember".
"Don't take this the wrong way but Dave, what you need isn't God, what you need is you allowing yourself to be helped " .
"I will.. r you.. and for us to be with me every step of the way.."
"I'll try..". April responded with a smile as they both had their eyes locked on each other.
As long as a train, the cars drove behind each other on the busy road. The street lights soon revealed a Ferrari 308 GTS impatiently overtaking the others, almost lying, whoever was driving must be in
a hurry . The image of two men could be seen as the windows were wound down, and Power by Kany, the West could be heard playing on the stereo.
Soon, a hand turned down the volume of the song, and a voice broke through the silence.
"Out with it dude",,. The man driving spoke as he took his hand back on the wheel.
"I don't know,w bro.. I don't have a good feeling about this.."
Young man responded from the passenger seat in front, he was dressed in black and was... on a low cut , his voice was deep but hihisuntenance was mixed.
" Relax, man… You are with me."
The other man assured.
"We could get caught.. t...s is too much of a risk" . e younger man warned as he turned towards him.
"And we love risks, don't we? . Listen… bro ... these rich people, they take what is ours and they enrich themselves even more, those dirty, reedy bastards. They would rather have it all than share. They
enjoy the fact that the society is divided, which gives them more room to be insane, which, and the deaths of the poor, don't even move them to pity, making them feel loved by God, is makes and chosen they call Grace, and I call it evil. So we would b, e doing our kind a favor, we are going to be heroes purging the land off these unworthy souls, bringing them to judgement. I am the god they will beg for mercy and I will enjoy every last bit of it" . The older man spoke in a hateful tone.
"It doesn't have to go this way.. the whole squad is right behind us, why do you not think of consequences, Rufus?"
"Because Mom and Dad would still be alive if I hadn't thought about consequences and just pulled the f*ckn trigger. In case you haven't noticed , I am o longer that scared little boy ! And the moment you
grow up too and stop being such a p*ssy, you would do better! This is going to be vengeance served cold, and I am gonna dish it well and not even yo u are going to stop me" . Rufus assured.
Silence.
Almost like they both went back down memory lane .
"Mom and Dad wouldn't have wanted us to soil our hands.." E...c spoke, looking out the window .
"PleaseEric, you already dyed your hands. The people in there are just going to be aBEESI 'seses. Dad and Mom wouldn't have wanted to know their sons grew up to be cowards either. "Be strong" ,
The last words mom said to us, or you forgot?"
"I remember! But this isn't about them! It's about you and your unreasonable loyalty to Master Bledig! The Diablo He promises you what is impossible.. why do you fall for it?!" .
Eric spoke rather pissed as he turned towards Rufus whose face was b, boiling red with rage . He had his eyes fixed on the road, almost like they were. Their destination was the goal and nothing was taking his mind off it.
"There are things you cannot understand. Things you refuse to understand, but I am no fool. I know exactly what I am up against and if you are not brave enough to do this…" Rufus paused, suddenly
pulling the car over to the side of the road carelessly.
"Feel free to go back," he said, turning his face towards Eric's .
