I was always one to break rules. I remember when I was still living with my parents, I was a reckless teenager, and my mom always informed me not to do things. I got a sudden urge to disobey her. It was the case with everyone else; I hated it when someone told me not to do something, it made me want to do it.
I hear the clock ticking at midnight, and my body automatically wakes up from sleep. I always had the habit of eating a late-night snack; it was one habit of mine that Connor hated the most. He felt like eating that late would make me fat, which was a total lie, but it hasn’t affected my body in any way. I felt nervous when I woke up.
The moonlight shines, creating some sort of light in my room, and I let out a breath, contemplating whether I should open the door. I remember the way to the kitchen, it’s directly near the dining room, it was an open-plan kitchen, so it wasn’t hard to notice Ares 'words ringing in your head, Don’t open the door for anyone until it’s morning.
Yet another voice told me to open the door, it was a little snack after al,l, I could sneak out and sneak back in without anyone noticing, that voice is my subconscious.
I have made a lot of bad decisions listening to my subconscious, us, and I think I am about to make one again.
I hold the handle of the door, swinging it open slowly before walking oand ut, and I close the door behind me.
Everywhere was quiet., If one dropped a pin on the floor, the sounds would echo through the corridor.
I closed my eyes, breathing in and out, before tiptoeing downstairs. I got to the kitchen and opened the fridge.
So far, everything is going well.
He had ice cream, and I didn’t want to turn on the light, which would cause a lot of attention. I take out the ice cream, but I don’t bother taking a bowl as I notice some washed spoons in the sink.
I sat by the kitchen island, enjoying my little snack. In thirty minutes, I was done eating, and I put the remaining back into the refrigerator before I walked out of the kitchen.
I hear a sound that catches my attention. I tiptoed to the roof.m I heard the sound, the door was closed.
I hear the cries of a woman; she cries loudly. My heart sank when I heard that. I opened the door slowly to reveal a woman tied to the chair.
"Is someone there? Please help me." She whispered, but it was loud enough for me to hear.
I was walking toward her when I heard footsteps., I quickly ran out and closed the door. The footsteps were coming from the stairs. I didn’t wait any further before I walked into my room.
The footsteps were now growing louder.
"She doesn’t know who you are." I heard a familiar voice; it was Ares.
"I found her, and I won’t be letting her out of my sight." I heard another voice, his voice was nothing like I had heard before, he demanded authority as he spoke, and he had a voice that would make you obey him once you had heard it.
I was standing against my door with the door open slightly, I peeped I couldn’t see much as it was dark. I wished until they entered the room where I saw that woman before I closed my door, I locked it, and lay back on the bed.
My heart beats faster than I could imagine; that woman was held against her will just like me.
Are they going to do the same to me? Is keeping me here in a nice room just a fantasy? I knew the alpha did not do dirty work, but I didn’t realize I would witness a part of it. I was scared, and that night I barely slept.
The next morning, a knock woke me up. I open the door, and Ares walks in.
"What do you want?" Ares said.
"Breakfast in thirty minutes, the alpha won’t tolerate tardiness," Ares says, and I nod. I was getting annoyed by the rules.
I shrugged off all the thoughts before I stepped into the bathroom to take a bath, and in twenty minutes, I was done with everything.
I still had ten minutes, so I waited until I had five minutes before I walked out of the room. The same guard leads me to the dining room.
I already knew the way around here, so why did they feel I needed someone to walk me there? I’m not going to run if that is what they think; I can’t even run even if I want to.
"The chair toward the end of the table," Ares says, and I nod, taking a seat exactly where he wanted me to.
"You were in your room all through last night." It sounded like a statement more than a question, so I just nodded.
He stares at me, it seems like he doesn’t believe me, but it doesn’t matter when they are going to kill me.
The maids bring the food, and I stare at the food for a while before I hear a throat clear.
"Don’t tell me you think we are going to poison you," Ares said.
"I don’t have any reason to trust you," I whispered.
"Are we meeting the Alpha?" I asked, changing the topic.
"Eager." He asks, and I shake my head.
I was curious, I wanted to know who he was, I felt I would know an answer to why they agreed to take me, why I am here, and what purpose I can serve them. I know Ares won’t tell me a thing without his alpha.
I need to know what I am doing here, and I need to be calm. There are so many guards here, and yelling or being bad won’t help me.
"What is he like?" I asked.
I knew what he was like, but I wanted to confirm my suspicions.
"Depends on who he is with, you will be meeting him soon." Ares smiles.
I started to eat my bacon and toast, and the egg tasted very good. After I was done, I was escorted back to my room.
I had no idea what to do. Usually at home, when Connor goes to work, I engage myself in trying to cook new recipes, or rather er reading a book or watching a movie.ie, I had nothing here.
I sat on my bed thinking, and my mind drifted off to my mother.
I haven’t seen her for a long time. I remember the day I left the house, she begged me not to go with him, and I didn’t listen., I had already chosen; I chose him over family, and I chose a man who promised me the world, and I am the one who lost.
Mom died, and I never got to see her body because of him, because my family has shunned me away but I can recall her wor.ds.
"If you can’t outsmart your enemies, become their friends." I need to be Ares ' friend, I need to be nice and good to him, I am sc, but I can’t show him, and I know I am not weak like Conrad says.
I walk toward my window, and the guards are stationed in the same position I saw them last night. When a car pulls up to the front of the house, one of them runs to open the door.
Is this their Alpha?
He walks out of the area. I can see him from a distance, and he is beautiful. He didn’t turn his face, so all I could see was half a face.e I wanted to see more.
"What are you doing?." I hear a voice from behind.
It was Ares.
"I’m bored," I muttered. "Will I be meeting your Alpha?"
"He is not at home, maybe soon." Ares resorted.
Oh, that was not their alpha. He attracted a lot of attention when he came.
"Come with me." Areas say, and I nod.
He leads me downstairs and into a garden,
"Why did you agree to host me?" I end up asking the most stupid question, I know he won’t be able to give me the answer I want.
"I can’t tell, but I can tell you we are not going to kill you," Ares said.
"I won’t be here for long." I smiled.
Ares laughs when I say that.
"You can stay here as much as you want," Ares said.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him. The garden was beautiful and peaceful, but I wanted to know why he was being nice to me, why can’t they just let me go, and how do they even know Conrad?
I had so many questions, and I know I won’t be getting any answers until I meet their alpha.
"Olivia, there are some rules," Ares said.
"Another rule, what is it this time?" I ask, interrupting him.
"Don’t interrupt me again." He groans in annoyance.
He is bipolar, I tell you, his mood changes faster than lightning strikes.
"You are not allowed to speak to anyone apart from me and the alpha, you can’t eat anything from anyone unless I give it to you or the alpha does, and lately, don’t even try sneaking out to take ice cream."
He saw me last night. Why didn’t he yell or say something? Did his alpha stop him?
"I won’t, I promise." I smile. "Is there someone who is going to poison me?" I ask, referring to the second rule.
"I can’t say." He says again, and I roll my eyes.
I hate being kept in the dark. I give him a small smile before he takes me back to my room.
"Can I have some books or at least TV?" I ask and he nods.
It was rude of him not to ask what kind of novels I wanted. He leaves the room, and after ten minutes, he comes back with a bunch of novels.
Another man came in with a fridge; he kept the mini-fridge beside my bed, inserting it into the socket on the wall.
"If you get hungry at night, there are some snacks in there." I smile when he says that.
The mawhoat brings the fridge, puts a remote by the side of my bed.
"There you have Netflix, any more complaints?" Ares asks, and I shake my head.
The act he carried out made me want to meet their Alpha more. From what I have gathered, Ares obeys him and does what he wants.
Later that day, Ares came twice to take me for lunch and dinner before I got back i,n and I locked my door.
I am not allowed to go out, and I didn’t want to this time. I was scared I would get hurt, and after I saw that one last night, it made me realize there are a lot of things I didn’t know about. I lay on my bed watching Netflix, my favorite show with Conrad. My mind drifts off to him, and tears begin to form in my eyes., I want to forget him, I want to forget his existence, and I want to punish him for doing this to me.
I wanted him to beg me for forgiveness just like I begged him when they took me away from my home. I wanted to make him cry, just like I did. I know I will never be able to forgive him.
I hate him.
I wiped my tears and focused on my show after I finished it..I opened the fridge to find all my favorite snacks in it.
How did they know, first the hair products, then the clothes, and now my food choices? I took out my favorite snack and munched on it.
Why treat a prisoner this good?
