Chapter 8: I think I care for him

I am the Alpha. I answer to nobody; no one dares to question my decision. I am the leader, and I control everything, every decision, so I am going to make sure Conrad learns his lesson. I wonder what he told the other betas about the reason behind the divorce. I won’t let him tarnish Olivia’s name. He will have to learn the hard way. I won’t kill him, but I will make sure he gives a good reason behind the divorce. I will make sure he tells everyone how much of a good person Olivia is. I walked out of the office, and I found myself walking to her room. She was still sound asleep. "Why do I care about you so much?" I asked her, but she was asleep. "Why did you have to find a mate in him? Why didn’t you wait for me?" I ask her. She should have waited for me. She should have rejected Conrad; if she had, I wouldn’t have to be doing this to him. I caress her hair before leaning in to press a kiss on her forehead. She calmed me down; her presence alone is enough to make me figure out the right decision. I smiled one last time before walking out. A guard was walking around the hallway when I stopped him. "Make sure she stays in her room until the meeting is over," I say, and he nods. "Fucking answer me when I speak to you," I yell. He shivers in fear. I like it when they are scared of me. "I’m sorry, Alpha, I will make sure she stays in her room." I know how stubborn she can be, like the first night Ares brought her to the other house, she had one important rule to stay in her room, but she didn’t. I saw her peeping at us, listening to our conversations. I didn’t say a word because I liked what she did. I love a woman who stands strong on what to do, what she wants. I know she saw that woman; she could have tried to run after that day, but she didn’t. This made me believe she is made for me. All the betas were there; we have important matters to take care of. We have a threat at hand, a different werewolf city that is threatening our well-being. "We start destroying them before it’s too late," I say. "We can try a peaceful negotiation, maybe something in exchange for peace." One of the betas suggested. I am Alpha Luca. I don’t follow the peaceful route. I don’t speak with others. I glanced at Ares, who nodded; he wanted me to agree to this. Ares knows better when it comes to this, so I agreed. I won’t be the person to do this; I will spend Ares in my place. I know he will be able to take care of everything. The meeting was annoyingly young; Beta Conrad was not here, no surprise to that, I didn’t expect him to. After the meeting, I walk to her room. The guard informs she is already awake. She must be hungry. She was seated on her bed when I walked in; she didn’t realize someone was here, she was too focused on her thoughts. "Olivia," I say, she is brought out of her thoughts as she smiles and walks toward me, hugging me. I didn’t expect that. I instantly wrap my hand around her; she feels so warm against me. I love holding her like this. I don’t want to let her go. "You are fine, I was worried, "Olivia whispered. She was worried about me; did she not know I was the one who caused the chaos? "I am fine, Olivia. I’m glad you are okay." I smiled. "I am." She smiles, soon her smile soon fades. "What is wrong?" I asked. "Why did you attack them?" She asks. I don’t want to answer that, not yet. She can’t know my true identity; she would hate me. I want her to fall in love with me before she knows. "You shouldn’t ask questions you don’t have answers to," I said. "Believe me, I want to know." "Maybe another time, Olivia," I say, but she is adamant. She wants to know why I attacked. "Olivia," I warned, but she didn’t listen; she continued to pester about it. "Fucking hell, Olivia, what is wrong with you? I said no," I have a tight grip on her hand. "You are hurting Luca." She says her eyes were filled with tears. My hands remained on hers. And I only realized what I was doing. I let go of her hand, and a tear slips out of her eyes. "I’m sorry," I whispered. I try to touch her, but she moves away. I walk into the bathroom to get a first aid kit, and I get an ointment for her hand. "Olivia, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do this. Please let me fix this." I beg. "Please, Olivia," I say. She allows me to apply the ointment on her hand, but I can’t believe I hurt her. I wiped her tears. "Please leave." She says. I didn’t try to stop her from kicking me out. I apologized one more time before leaving, and I asked the guard to get her food. I need to stay away from her; I can’t keep hurting her. Last night I made her cry, and today I made her cry. I’m meant to take care of her better than that, her bastard Mate. She deserves to be happy. I get back into my room, lighting up a cigarette. I need to calm down before Alexander comes out; it would be dreadful if he did. I close my eyes, and her face flashes through my head. She had a smile on her face. She looked like an angel. She looked perfect in her sundress with her hair up; the way she smiles all the time gave me hope in life. "I will fix, Olivia," I whisper. "I will make you fall in love with me." "What did you do?" Ares asked. He could sense tension coming from me, and given that Olivia had not come down for lunch, he knew it had something to do with her. A part of me didn’t want to tell him what I did. I know he won’t approve of that, he won’t be happy about it, nor was I. "I messed up." I gritted my teeth. "You let your anger get the best of you," Ares replied. He knew about my anger and how badly I handled it; it was one of the traits I got from my father, which I wish I hadn’t. I tried to hurt Olivia because of my temper. I was just trying to keep things from here to protect her. I know she won’t be able to take it. "I’m going to fix this. I will get her to forgive me," I whispered. "You will have to if you want this to work. I don’t have to ask what you did. I have spent time with Olivia, and she has a good heart. I know she will forgive you." He said, and I smiled. I know a way she would forgive me, and Are,s would help me.
