I should have stayed in my room like Areas told me to; I should not have left. I walked further into the room, and a strong odor of blood filled my nostrils. I was familiar with the odor. Conrad would always get into fights in the bar and come back home all injured.
I walked further into the room. A voice echoed in the room.
"Please help me." It sounded like a little boy.
He was a little boy. He was tied to the chair; he didn’t look a day older than sixteen. Why is he here?
There was blood on his body, and the room reeked of blood and alcohol. My heart pounded twice as hard in my chest when I walked further into the light.
The boy’s eyes widened when he saw me.
What did they do to him?
I had no idea what I should do; a part of me wanted to walk back into the kitchen and pretend not to know anything, but there was a larger part of me that wanted me to free this boy.
I stared into his baby blue eyes; he reminded me of someone close to my heart, and his tears made my heart sink.
I need to free him. I will sneak him out of the house. I quickly untie the boy.
"Thank you." The boy said.
"I can take you out of the house," I say, and he gives me a weak smile.
What did Ares and Luca do to him? My mind wanders off to the night I first got sold, the day I sneaked out, and I saw that woman. They are monsters that pretend to be good.
She was tied up just like this, bo. Did they hurt her? Were they going to hurt him?
I jolted when I felt his hand touch my shoulder.
"You are shaking." He says.
"I’m sorry," I mumbled.
I stop in my tracks, taking out a deep breath. If I’m going to take him out of this house, then I need to calm down. I let out one last deep breath before holding his hand.
I made sure no one was in the kitchen and living room before I signaled him to come out. He blinks his eye, adjusting his eyesight to the light of the kitchen.
The light in the room I found him in is a bit dim, unlike the one here. I check the living room one more time before I hold his hand.
We were nearing the door when a voice stopped us.
A guard.
The little boy hides behind me in fear. I don’t know what to do; he is going to call Luca.
The guard says nothing to me, and I start to hear the sounds of footsteps.
"What is going on?." Ares asks. He sounded calm.
"Move away from him now." A louder voice yelledItt was Luca, he didn’t look happy. His eyes were no longer emerald.
"Luca I- why the fuck is he here, what did you do?" He asks. "Fucking move away from him, now."
My body shivered with fear. I could not answer the question. This is what curiosity got me. I should have minded my business.
Ares didn’t say a word; he watched the drama unfold between both of us.
"I’m sorry, he was hurt, I wanted to help." A tear slips out of my eyes.
Seeing him angry at me reminded me of Conrad, that was how he looked when he was drunk and mad at me.
"Olivia, you need to go now." Luca hollered.
Some guards walk toward him, holding him down. Is he going to hit me?
I stood in my position, and I was unable to move.
"Get the fucking boy away from her." His voice made me jolt from my position.
The little boy held on to my clothes.
Ares walks toward me, taking my hand, and he yanks the hand of boy away from me. He drags me upstairs.
"I’m sorry. He is so mad at me." I whispered, my heart was beating rapidly against my chest.
"You should stay here, for God’s sake, listen for once, Olivia. Fucking listen and don’t leave this room."
"Tell him I am sorry," I whispered.
"He knows you didn’t mean to." He says before walking out.
I lock the door, and I sit back on the bed, wrapping my arms around me.
Is he going to hit me, or worse, will he make me his slave? He has been nothing but nice to me, and yet I did this, I intruded into his work.
Fuck, I should have remained in my room.
I wiped the remaining of my tears., I couldn’t sleep anymore. I was anxious about what was going on. I know better than to leave my room.
I woke up from sleep, I glanced at the time, which was past midnight, and I walked to the window.
There were cars in front of the house, and the guards were moving in and out of the house.
I watched them, and I noticed they brought a box inside the house. It made me curious. I push out the feelings of curiosity, which caused me a lot tonight.
I walked back to my bed, lying on it when I heard a knock on the door.
The words Ares said the first day I came ring through my head.
I remained on my bed as the knocking continued on the door.
A thought went through my head, maybe it’s Luca, maybe he wants to talk, but my instincts said otherwise, and I know my gut feeling is never wrong.
The knocks stop, and I notice the handle of the door swinging, the door slightly opens, and Ares walks in.
A wave of relief washed through me. I felt a lot better. I knew he wouldn’t kill me, at least not now.
"You need to get ready," Ares said.
"Where is Luca?" I ask.
Before he could answer, I heard a loud noise coming from downstairs. It wasn’t a human voice; it was a howl that came from a werewolf.
Someone changed into their true form.
But who?
"What is that, Are?."
The noise gets louder, and I hear the screams of people.
What is going on?
