chapter 6 :Miss An

Just now, the nanny who opened the door was afraid of getting scolded, so she hurriedly reported, "Madam, this woman disregarded my obstruction and insisted on coming in, saying she wanted to see the master."

"What woman..." Lily Ye's words were interrupted when she saw Ava An. Her sentence came to a sudden halt, her pupils constricted suddenly, as if she had seen a ghost. The tray in her hand slipped from her grasp.

Clatter!

The sound of the teacup hitting the floor instantly pierced Ava An's eardrums. Ava An gazed coldly at Lily Ye, just as she had when she first married into the An family fifteen years ago.

"You..." It took Lily Ye a while to find her voice again. "When did you come out? How did you come out? Who allowed you to come out?"

"Heh..." Ava An chuckled, a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "When the illness is cured, you can come out. Wasn't that what you all said when you sent me in back then?"

Lily Ye widened her eyes. Yes, that was what they had said, but how could Ava An's illness be cured? Wasn't she supposed to wear the label of mental illness for the rest of her life inside there? Why had she come out, and why hadn't anyone from the An family been informed?

"What's going on? Why all this commotion?" Lily Ye was lost in thought when she heard her husband's voice. She suddenly felt a sense of guilt.

Ava An gave a dry laugh and said with a hint of mockery, "Mr. An seems to be even busier than five years ago. It's like climbing a mountain just to see you."

Alex An's steps hesitated for a moment, then he quickly took a few steps forward. When he saw Ava An's face, his pupils constricted just like Lily Ye's had moments ago. Almost instinctively, he asked, "How did you come out?"

The same question came from Lily Ye's mouth, and Ava An couldn't help but feel a sense of irony and a hint of revenge. However, when her own biological father asked her the same question, she felt a dull pain in her heart.

After asking, Alex An probably realized he had said the wrong thing. He quickly tried to amend his words, "What I meant was your illness is cured. Why didn't the doctor inform me? I'll take you back home."

As he said this, the maids in the room collectively sighed in relief.

Father?

They all looked at Ava An with different eyes this time.

This young woman who appeared to be only twenty-five or six years old turned out to be their master's daughter. They had been working as maids in the An family for five years, and they had never heard of another daughter in the An family.

"Do I have a father? Maybe the doctor forgot," Ava An sneered inwardly. Did they think she could just walk out whenever she wanted to? They probably wished she had stayed in the hospital forever.

Alex An looked at his daughter's unfamiliar face, took a deep breath to calm his emotions, and said, "It's good that you're better. Come home. I'll have your Aunt Shu redecorate your room for you."

The corner of Lily Ye's eye twitched, and she said with a forced smile, "Yes, Ava, your father has been looking forward to your return. I'll have the maids tidy up your room for you later. It's been so many years since you last came home. We renovated the house a couple of years ago, and your room hasn't been arranged yet."

Whether it hadn't been arranged or if there simply wasn't a room for her, Ava An knew very well. The sudden house renovation was just an excuse to get rid of her belongings. The household staff had probably been replaced at that time, too; otherwise, how could they not know about the existence of another daughter in the An family?

"Lily Ye, you really don't need to guard against me like I'm a thief, and there's no need to put on a show in front of Mr. An. I didn't come out this time with the intention of staying. I need to talk to Mr. An about something. I don't know if Mr. An, with all his busyness, is willing to make time for someone like me," Ava An's tone was filled with sarcasm, not only exposing Lily Ye's hypocrisy but also taking a swipe at Alex An.

Lily Ye was exposed on the spot, and her face turned pale. "You!"

"I don't have so much time to play along with your deceit, and your sweet-talking skills are better suited for Mr. An. He's more receptive to that," Ava An smiled faintly, speaking with a hint of displeasure.
