chapter 13 :There is ample time

Ethan Ye fell silent again, looking at Ava An, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

Ava An felt a bit frustrated. She had said so much, and her mouth was getting dry. Can't he at least react in some way? She didn't want to feel like she was talking to a piece of wood.

"Do you want some tea?" After a brief pause, Ethan Ye finally spoke again, but his words had nothing to do with the agreement.

Ava An was about to retort with, "Why do you ask about tea? Can't you give a response first?" But she realized she was actually a bit thirsty, so she nodded involuntarily and said, "Sure, I'd like some."

After saying that, she belatedly realized that Ethan Ye had led her off track. She regretted it and bit her lip.

A faint smile curled on Ethan Ye's lips. He removed his hand from his forehead and took out tea utensils from a drawer, arranging them meticulously before starting to brew the tea.

Ava An's gaze had nowhere else to go, so it rested on his busy hands. His hands were long and well-defined, even more beautiful than a pianist's. He seemed to be quite skilled at making tea, his movements flowing seamlessly.

It had to be said that good-looking people made everything they did look pleasing. Ava An's irritation towards him for his perpetual silence seemed to have mysteriously disappeared.

Realizing that Ethan Ye had somehow managed to diffuse her anger without even speaking, Ava An sighed once more. Indeed, it was challenging to stay angry when faced with such an attractive face.

"Try it," Ethan Ye said absentmindedly after a while, and the tea was already prepared. He used tongs to pick up a small porcelain cup and placed it in front of her. The tea had a subtle golden-red hue.

Ava An took a sniff, and the tea fragrance wafted into her nose, pleasant to the senses.

Lifting the tea cup, Ava An took a small sip. She wasn't a tea connoisseur, but she could tell it was Pu'er tea, with a hint of chrysanthemum fragrance, as if a bit of chrysanthemum had been added. The combination created a particularly enticing flavor.

Ava An continued to drink, taking a few more sips. After the tea had settled in her stomach, her thirst was relieved, and the anger she had felt disappeared. Then she belatedly remembered something – chrysanthemum tea was known for its cooling properties!

Damn it, did Ethan Ye intentionally add chrysanthemum to the Pu'er tea to tease her about her temper?

Crafty!

Ava An glanced at Ethan Ye, blushing in embarrassment, and silently labeled him as a crafty person.

"Do you want more?" Ethan Ye pretended not to notice her embarrassed look and asked with an expressionless face.

Ava An was annoyed and placed the tea cup in front of him with a thud. "Yes!"

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Ethan Ye's lips as he refilled her cup.

Ava An held the cup and continued to sip, this time more leisurely.

Seeing that her anger had subsided, Ethan Ye continued with what she had mentioned earlier, "I won't sign this agreement."

Ava An paused, then asked, "What are you dissatisfied with?"

"I have no dissatisfaction," Ethan Ye shook his head and added after a pause, "It's just unnecessary."

Ava An furrowed her brows, not quite understanding his meaning.

"I've said it before, marriage is not child's play. Once we're married, I won't divorce you. Everything I have will be yours. Whatever you want, I'll give it to you. I'll protect you and won't let anyone mistreat you," Ethan Ye's speech was also slow and emotionless, but it sounded extremely earnest.

Ava An's heart suddenly skipped a beat. Ethan Ye's words were enticing, even though his tone was detached. For so many years, Ava An had always been self-reliant. Suddenly, a man said he would protect her, and she couldn't help but be moved.

"I... I'm afraid you'll regret it in the future. You don't know me. You should know that with your status, you could marry someone from a similar background," Ava An confessed, suppressing the feeling of being touched deep inside.

"The future is long. We'll get to know each other slowly," Ethan Ye seemed completely unconcerned whether Ava An wanted to use his influence or genuinely be with him. He simply uttered eight words with an unflappable demeanor.
