chapter 3 : Three chapters of the agreement

Dagny needed to return to the village, and as luck would have it, Cabin had just achieved a breakthrough in the Profound Gateway today. He didn't feel like practicing further, so they decided to head back together.

Dagny asked him, "Do you know of any houses available for rent in the village?"

Originally, Dagny lived in two dilapidated houses at the village committee, both of which were in disrepair due to their age. The previous night, a strong wind had caused one of the walls in the east room to collapse. Fortunately, Dagny was staying in the west room, or it could have been disastrous.

She didn't dare to stay there any longer, so she applied for funds from the town to repair the village committee's houses. However, the town couldn't provide any funding and instructed Dagny to raise the funds herself in the village.

Dagny had no choice but to return and solve the issue herself. Raising the funds would take time, and so would the repairs. With nowhere else to stay, she had to temporarily rent a house in the village.

Being new to the area, Dagny wasn't very familiar with the villagers. She felt that, although Cabin was a bit rough around the edges, he had stepped up to help her in her time of need, and hadn't taken advantage of her vulnerable situation. He seemed like a decent person, so she decided to ask him if he knew of any available houses.

Cabin chuckled and said, "I've got a house, three rooms. I stay in the west room, so why not take the east room?"

Hearing Cabin's offer, Dagny hesitated for a moment. She felt that it might be inconvenient to stay with a young man like him. However, if she stayed across from Cabin, she also felt a sense of security. In the end, she agreed to visit Cabin's house and see how she felt.

After inspecting Cabin's house, Dagny found it to be old but reasonably tidy. It seemed acceptable. When she had just graduated from college and was in another city, she had once shared an apartment with a male roommate. It was a two-bedroom apartment, and they each had their room. They had gotten along without any issues for over six months.

So, Dagny and Cabin set a few ground rules. First, she would pay him a hundred dollars in rent each month, no exceptions. Second, they could pool resources for meals, with each taking turns cooking. No slacking off allowed. Third, she insisted that he couldn't enter her room in the east room without her permission, and absolutely no peeking through the windows.

In the afternoon, they tidied up together, and Cabin cooked some instant noodles. They had instant noodles for dinner, and after they finished, they moved Cabin's belongings from the east room to the west room. The bedding was borrowed from the village committee's dormitories.

That night, Dagny found it a bit hard to sleep. She kept thinking about Cabin's appearance during the day. Although he hadn't done anything to harm her, his eyes always seemed to gleam like those of a wild beast, often lingering on her feminine features.

However, upon reflection, she realized that looking wasn't a crime. After all, he was quite a handsome guy himself. With his sharp features and robust physique, he embodied the quintessential image of a man. His straight posture might be attributed to years of military training. Surely, someone who had served in the military couldn't be all bad!

As they say, in times of trouble, find a soldier. Having a retired serviceman living next door was a stroke of luck. Dagny should consider herself fortunate! Cabin's willingness to step up and rescue her when she was entangled by the python, without taking advantage of the situation, indicated that he had good character.

Dagny asked herself, what does it matter if she's a city person? Should being a city person mean looking down on rural folks?

Dagny originally didn't want to think about Cabin. She just wanted to sleep early and wake up early the next morning. But then she heard the sound of splashing water in the courtyard.

She got up, pulled back the curtains, and couldn't help but blush and feel her heart race again. Cabin had stripped down to his bare chest, washing himself at the well in the courtyard. His muscular body glistened with water droplets under the moonlight.

Cabin happened to glance back and saw Dagny leaning against the window. He grinned, revealing a set of teeth as white as seashells. Dagny dropped the curtain immediately after being startled and reclined back on the bed.

Cabin's voice echoed in the courtyard, "No worries, you can watch. It doesn't say in the three ground rules that you can't peek while I'm bathing!"

You rascal, daring to tease me. I'll make sure you know what I'm capable of. Even though I'm just a humble village chief, I still have the authority to oversee you all.

After washing away the sweat, Cabin returned to the west room and went to sleep. The next morning, the rising sun painted the room in warm hues. Cabin got up and began his meditation, continuing to practice God Formulas.

He was currently focusing on the flow of energy within his body. The stronger the flow, the more adept he would be at applying various forms of knowledge. After a thorough session of energy cultivation, he felt refreshed.

Stepping out, he stretched lazily, basking in the morning sun. He glanced at the cucumber field in the courtyard, where the plants were drooping from the dryness. It hadn't rained in days, and the ground had cracked from dehydration.

Someone was operating the well windlass, making creaking sounds. Cabin turned to look and saw Dagny fetching water. Her body swayed with the movement of the windlass, causing Cabin to swallow involuntarily.

No wonder people secretly called her "Big Chested Beauty." It was an apt description indeed. She was wearing an oversized T-shirt with cartoon patterns and a pair of thin knee-length exercise shorts. Her face was flushed, and she was exerting herself to pull the bucket up from the well.

Dagny had considered wearing more clothes, but in this thirty-degree weather, it was simply unbearable. At this moment, she lifted her head instinctively and, as expected, met Cabin's scorching gaze.

She quickly stood up straight and covered her chest with her hands. "You rascal, why did you wake up but still haven't come to help? Look at how the vegetables in the garden are suffering from a lack of water. Aren't you going to water them?"

Dagny grew up in the city and was pampered since childhood. She had never done farm work, but she was diligent by nature. Seeing the wilted melon vines in the yard, she knew they needed water.

Watering and tending to the garden was purely an experiential activity for Dagny. Her delicate hands, unused to such labor, were now reddened from carrying two heavy buckets.

Cabin hurried over and said, "I'll handle the watering. But you'll have to make breakfast, alright?"

"Hmph, bargaining already. You're a lazybones!"

Cabin walked over, took the water buckets, and intentionally brushed his arm against Dagny's. It felt incredibly smooth, like a baby's bottom.
