chapter 9 office scandal

Emgrand Hotel was one of the high-end hotels in Yuansong City, on the verge of earning a five-star rating. Consequently, quality was never compromised; the concern was excellence.

Even a simple tomato had to be meticulously selected, without any allowance for subpar produce.

Looking at Cabin's oysters and blue crabs, Priscilla was certain they were of higher quality than what the current suppliers provided. This sparked her intention of establishing a long-term business relationship, which also included an appreciation for Cabin as a person.

The fact that he had just rescued her without expecting anything in return had already made Priscilla feel that Cabin was different from the rest. She believed that working with him would be free of any underhanded dealings.

Priscilla inquired, "If I place orders with you, how much can you deliver each day?"

"I dare not promise too much. Moreover, our mountain roads are not easy to traverse, so I can't carry too much at once. If I come every two or three days, I can bring at least a few dozen pounds each time."

"Carry it? Where is your home?"

Priscilla was a bit puzzled; she hadn't heard of anyone personally carrying their supplies!

"My home is in Hushan Village, below Dahuan Mountain."

"Dahuan Mountain? The roads there aren't even accessible. I know it's a poor place!"

After speaking, she felt she might have been a bit impolite. She smiled and said, "Alright, then today, take your delivery to the logistics department and have them weigh it."

She turned to the receptionist who had just apprehended all the escaping crabs and said, "You two, help him carry it to the kitchen in the back. Let the logistics department weigh it, then make an invoice. Take it to the finance department upstairs to get paid!"

The receptionist was internally cursing her luck. Today had turned out to be quite unfortunate. She would have been better off if she had just let him pass through here to the kitchen. Now, she smelled of sea stench too!

When the general manager spoke, no one dared to defy her. The receptionist quickly joined a service girl in lifting the fish basket, with Cabin in tow, and headed toward the back kitchen.

In the kitchen, the crabs were weighed. A total of fifteen pounds of blue crabs, seven hundred and fifty dollars. The oysters weighed twenty-eight pounds, totaling four hundred and twenty dollars. The remaining clams and small conches weren't worth much, so they were lumped together and weighed. At a rate of ten dollars per pound, they totaled two hundred and thirty dollars. The logistics department issued a ticket, neatly totaling one thousand four hundred dollars.

The head chef in the kitchen signed it, then instructed Cabin to take it upstairs.

He went to the twelfth floor to find the Finance Director for a signature and then went to the accountant's desk to collect his money.

It was the first time Cabin had sold goods to a hotel, and he hadn't anticipated the process of receiving payment to be so intricate. Nevertheless, this sale brought in the most money yet, leaving him in high spirits. Adding in the two hundred dollars from the sea cucumbers he sold earlier, today's earnings were indeed substantial.

The female village head only made two thousand dollars a month, and with yesterday's labor included, despite it being just two days' worth of work, she now had over sixteen hundred dollars. In the past, he used to carry fewer goods and couldn't fetch a good price at the market. He also tended to be lenient with the scales. As a result, he'd come back with just a few hundred dollars.

Under the guidance of the older lady in the kitchen who washed vegetables, he found the elevator leading upstairs.

He happily boarded the elevator, but to his surprise, as soon as the elevator doors opened, he encountered the girl he had seen in the car earlier, wearing a crop top that revealed her midriff. There were also a few middle-aged individuals in the elevator, some of whom were management personnel from the upper floors, while others were guests staying at the hotel, dressed more conventionally.

As soon as Cabin stepped onto the elevator, the midriff-baring girl pinched her nose.

"Why am I so unlucky, running into you again, reeking of fish!"

Cabin glanced at her. "Well, it seems like you're the unlucky one."

He stood beside her. No matter how attractive this woman was, her lack of respect didn't warrant any in return.

On the twelfth floor, the midriff-baring girl shoved Cabin and rushed out of the elevator as if staying a moment longer would suffocate her.

Cabin, outside the elevator, looked at the dozens of doors on this floor, feeling a bit dazed.

He went along the corridor, checking each room number until he found the sign for the finance department.

The door was open, revealing a desk directly opposite with a bespectacled chubby man seated behind it.

At this moment, the girl in the midriff-baring outfit was talking to him.

"Director Lu, you have no idea. I came back from my hometown this morning and ran into a foul-smelling fish seller on the way. And just now in the elevator, I encountered him again. He's gotten me all stinky. I've hated this smell since I was a kid."

The plump Director Lu's gaze was fixed on her navel. He absentmindedly said, "Haha, Chloe, you've slimmed down since you came back. Come, let Uncle Huang feel it. Has the flesh on your butt decreased?"

"Gross, the door's still open!"

Chloe squirmed a bit and turned around to close the door. To her surprise, Cabin was standing at the doorway, which instantly fueled her anger.

"Kid, are you stalking me?"

"I'm here to settle the bill."

"What bill?"

"I delivered crabs to the kitchen and..."

Before Cabin could finish, the door slammed shut with a loud bang.

Cabin was furious. He couldn't stand being treated with such disrespect.

He reached out to knock, but he heard something odd from inside.

What was that smacking sound, like they were kissing?

The chubby guy and the girl in the crop top didn't seem to be in the same age group, so why were they so intimate?

Cabin glanced at the lock. During his time as a special forces soldier, he'd learned how to pick locks. This type of lock he could easily handle.

He found a thin piece of wire on the fish basket and inserted it into the lock.

Then he folded the settlement form into two layers, slipped it into the gap above and below the door, and the lock clicked open.

He quietly pushed the door ajar and saw the two people in the room embracing, their faces glistening with saliva.

"Chloe, you've slimmed down... Your tits are even smaller than my wife's!"

"Oh my, stop it, you're hurting me..."

This pair of adulterous lovers, engaging in an office romance!

Cabin took out his phone and extended it inside. His phone was an old-fashioned one, and in the years he'd been at home, he hadn't had much social interaction. He hardly used the phone, and it didn't even have a SIM card. It was just for telling the time.

At this moment, he used the phone to gesture, and with a push, he entered the room.

The two of them reacted like startled rabbits, immediately separating.

"Who's there?"

Director Lu, upon seeing Cabin, flew into a fit of rage.

"Who let you in? How did you get in?"

Cabin, holding up his phone, smiled. "I'm here to film. Would you like this video to be shown to your general manager, or should I just upload it online?"
