This was Skylar Qin!!!
Why was she here?
After a brief moment, Quintin Fang recognized the busy figure and walked over almost instinctively. "Skylar Qin, what are you doing here?"
"Oh, I got a part-time job at the canteen yesterday, just getting some exercise!"
The next moment, the busy figure looked up, revealing a delicate and slightly sweaty face. At first, there was a moment of surprise, then a smile, and she reached up to wipe off the sweat beads on her pretty face with her arm.
Quintin Fang couldn't quite believe Skylar Qin's idea of exercise. Any student who could manage in life or had other choices wouldn't come to the canteen to carry trays.
Moreover, from what he knew, Skylar Qin had at least three part-time jobs, filling up her usual free time.
Only on occasional idle days she would choose to go to the library to read.
Thinking about how hard Skylar Qin worked for money, Quintin Fang felt he should do something.
Although he couldn't give Skylar Qin money directly, he could improve her life in other ways.
Contemplating this, Quintin Fang didn't expose Skylar Qin and smiled, saying, "All right, you go on with your busy work, I'll go buy breakfast."
"Buy breakfast? Let me treat you! I know the canteen staff, I can get you a discount!" Skylar Qin said warmly as she quickly cleaned the table with a towel, tidied up the leftover plates and trash left by others, and then invited, her enthusiasm apparent.
Quintin Fang wanted to decline, but seeing the expectation in Skylar Qin's pretty face, he understood with a little thought. This was her indirect way of repaying him for helping her out the other night and giving her father two thousand dollars.
Buying breakfast wasn't a big deal, but it was a gesture within her means.
After a moment of thought, Quintin Fang nodded and said, "Sure, thank you!"
"You're welcome. Didn't you help me too?"
A sweet smile graced Skylar Qin's pretty face, and she hurried to the side of the canteen, emptied the trash from the meal tray into a nearby bin, then carried the tray inside.
In less than a minute, she came out after washing her hands, called Quintin Fang to the food counter, and asked, "What would you like to eat? I'll have them bring it to you!"
"Two sprout buns and a cup of soy milk, please!" Quintin Fang didn't want Skylar Qin to spend money, so he only ordered what he was going to eat.
"Mr. Lin, pick two sprout buns and a cup of soy milk!" Skylar Qin nodded, turned back to the food counter, and a middle-aged man in chef's attire with a round face and big ears inside said, "Put it on my tab."
The middle-aged man skillfully picked up two buns and a cup of soy milk, separated them, and put them in his pocket. When he handed them over, he looked at Quintin Fang and teased, "Ms. Qin, is this your boyfriend? The young man looks quite handsome and energetic!"
"Mr. Lin, he's my classmate!" Skylar Qin's pretty face blushed, and she took the buns and soy milk, passing them to Quintin Fang.
Quintin Fang took the buns and soy milk, thanked Skylar Qin and didn't stay longer, turning and leaving the canteen.
He physically left, but his thoughts remained with Skylar Qin.
He contemplated how to improve Skylar Qin's living conditions in a way that was subtle yet effective.
He knew that Skylar Qin was a strong-willed woman who wouldn't easily accept favors from others.
On this point, from his previous life and being married to Skylar Qin, he understood it deeply.
Hush!
As he was thinking, Quintin Fang unconsciously arrived at the corridor outside the dormitory. Suddenly, he heard a hushing sound beside him, and looking up, he saw his roommate, Tony Liu, winking at him continuously.
Quintin Fang inquired suspiciously, "Tony, what's going on here?"
"Is Quintin Fang back? Tony Liu, move out of my way..."
Tony Liu turned green in the face, unable to speak. He was instantly pushed from behind, revealing a figure in her twenties, exuding a mature yet intellectual aura, ready to interrogate, "Quintin Fang, you're finally caught! I thought you went missing!"
The moment Quintin Fang laid eyes on her, he recognized her as their class counselor, Nora Zheng.
He understood the meaning behind Tony Liu's winking just now, clearly a way to inform him discreetly.
He couldn't help but smile sheepishly, "Ms. Zheng, what brings you here? Haven't had breakfast yet, I assume! Here, I bought this specially for you. Have it while it's warm!"
"All right! Quintin Fang, we haven't seen each other in a while, and now you're becoming quite the liar!" Nora Zheng said sarcastically.
Quintin Fang maintained a composed demeanor and said, "Ms. Zheng, just kidding. How could I, an honest person, lie? This breakfast is truly for you."
"For me? You knew I would come to your dorm?" Nora Zheng said coldly.
Quintin Fang shook his head, "Not really. I bought breakfast and went to your office, saw it was empty, and that's when I came back. If you don't believe me, ask Tony Liu and the others. They can tell you I left a while ago!"
"Yes. All right..." Seeing Quintin Fang earnestly fabricating a story, Tony Liu was almost in stitches, but he nodded approvingly, trying to keep a straight face.
Nora Zheng looked at Tony Liu; her expression softened somewhat, but she still said coldly, "Come in!"
With her words, she turned and walked into Quintin Fang's dorm room.
As soon as she entered, Tony Liu came up to Quintin Fang, giving him a thumbs up, "Quintin, you're something! Your lies are so convincing, I almost believed them all!"
"Don't be silly, when did she arrive?" Quintin Fang rolled his eyes and gestured.
"You went out for exercise not long ago, and then she arrived!" Tony Liu chuckled, "Quintin, you've been skipping classes for so long. When Nora Zheng comes, she's pretty furious. Good luck!"
"No worries, I can handle it!" Quintin Fang said confidently.
Honestly, even if Nora Zheng didn't come to find him today, he would have gone to see her on his initiative.
Others might not know, but he was clear that despite Nora Zheng's young age, she was a top student at Edencrest University Law School in the Micanterra, well-versed in law.
In his vision of the blue ocean space, from the very beginning, he set his sights on the international market. Hence, he needed a professional with a thorough understanding of foreign law.
And Nora Zheng was his ideal head of the company's legal team.
Of course, there was another aspect. Nora Zheng's father was no other than the vice president of Stellaris University, Peter Zheng.
If it weren't for the uproar caused by Nora Zheng in her junior year due to relationship issues in her previous life, he wouldn't have known that Nora Zheng, who usually mingled well with students in school, had such a significant background.
"I trust you like I trust the moon!" Tony Liu scoffed.
Quintin Fang chuckled, didn't explain, and went into the dorm carrying breakfast.
"What? You've prepared your story. How do you plan to deceive me?" Inside the dorm, sitting on a stool, Nora Zheng sneered.
"How could I? I wouldn't dare lie to you, Ms. Zheng."
Quintin Fang looked around the dorm, saw there was no one around, probably chased away by Nora Zheng, and with a playful grin, placed the breakfast on the table and pulled a stool to sit down.
Nora Zheng glared, "Be serious, no laughing!"
"All right!" Quintin Fang grinned.
Nora Zheng observed Quintin Fang's seemingly agreeable responses, but there was no change in his expression. Amidst her frustration, she also wondered how much a person could change after an emotional setback.
Just last year, when he entered the university, Quintin Fang was so simple and earnest, getting along with everyone in a harmonious manner. It was only at the end of last year, after a breakup, that he changed. He frequently took leaves and now even skipped classes, having disappeared for almost half a month.
Thinking about this, she spoke in a stern tone, "Tell me! You haven't attended classes for half a month and aren't even on campus. Where have you been? Don't you want to study anymore?"
"I want to. Of course, I do. My parents are waiting to hold my university graduation certificate," Quintin Fang said earnestly.
This was true. After coming back from the future, the reason he stayed at the school was not only for Skylar Qin but also to fulfill his family's expectations. His family had worked hard to put him through university, and he didn't want to disappoint them.
Hearing this, Nora Zheng raised her voice, "With your constant truancy, do you really think you'll get that graduation certificate?"
"Well, I have you, Ms. Zheng, don't I? With you covering for me, the school won't expel me!" Quintin Fang said with a playful smile.
Nora Zheng's heart skipped a beat. Could it be he knew her identity?
Wait a minute! Only the dean of students, the college dean, and a few school leaders knew about it within the school. Even many teachers were unaware.
How could a student like him know about her identity?
Was he playing a trick on her?
Yes, that must be it!
Her thoughts raced, and Nora Zheng sneered, "You're overthinking. I'm just a small counselor. I can't protect you."
"You might not, but Dean Zheng can!" Quintin Fang said, looking like he had everything figured out.
Nora Zheng widened her eyes, "Um… How do you know?"
