Chapter 8 Go home

by S. Q 16:48,Oct 09,2020
Gwen Wen's eyes grew red with anger and she was shaking with the breath of a survivor: "You can't stop me. There will always be a time when you can't show up in time, and then what can you do to stop me!"

"If you really want to die, why don't you just end your life in prison?"
Man the eyes glowing in the dark, as if to see through Gwen Wen’s every thought: "think about why you have suffered in order to live, think about the freedom you desired, think about those out there who have set you up, think about the inhuman life you have led in the past three years, and tell me now are you really so willingly to die?"

How could Gwen Wen, with her hands shaking and burning tears streaming down her face, reconcile herself to such a futile death; her wrongs had not been righted; she had not reunited with her mother. But what could she do now, in the face of the tyrannical Lu Family and a man ready to hurt her at any moment?

What else could she do?

The man's hand was still holding the glass in her hand tightly; for a moment the two were locked in a stalemate, until he suddenly leaned close to Gwen Wen's ear and whispered: "Obey me, I can give you more than the Lu Family, and I can help you, with whatever you wanna do."

Gwen Wen shuddered slightly at the man's words, which, like a seductive spell, made her hesitate...

Could this man really help her?

"You, why are you helping me?"

"You don't need to know now."

With that, the man got off Gwen Wen, took the glass piece from her hand, turned around and walked to the balcony, and as he lifted up a corner of the curtain, the moonlight streamed in and illuminated his tall, straight back, broad and stout figure, giving Gwen a sense of security.

He tilted his head slightly and said, "I will give you three days to dwell on it, see you then."

He jumped out of the balcony; Gwen Wen sat up slowly, her heart beating fiercely as the blood stains on her necked cooled.

Can this man really help her right her wrongs and reunite with her mother?

For the next three days, the man did not show up, and Gwen Wen had not made up her mind whether to make a deal with him.

She could not easily believe this man, nor did she come up with how to deal with him in the night after three days.

On the third morning, just after Gwen Wen had finished her meal, she was called to her master's study.

In the quiet study, Master looked at Gwen Wen's haggard face with no pity in his eyes. "How does the self-reflection serve you?"

Gwen Wen lowered her head obediently. "I was wrong; from now on I will not let Hugh Lu suffer any injure any more. I will take good care of him."

Master nodded: "The Lu Family is not unreasonable; I have watched closely at you in the past month, if things like this would ever happen again, the consequences, I think you must be very clear.”

"I am."
Gwen Wen pursed her dry lips.

"In that case, I'll give you a day off today. I guess you family haven’t known of your release from prison? Go home."

Gwen Wen jerked her head up. "Re, really?"
She could go home to see her mother now!

Master nodded, and Gwen Wen made several grateful bows. "Thank you, thank you, I would go and return as soon as possible!"

A puzzle flashed in the Master’s eyes, but he simply responded her with a wave of his hand.
