Chapter 17 He's awake!

by S. Q 16:49,Oct 09,2020
Gwen Wen's mouth was sealed by his lips, unable to utter a word; surrounded by a deep sense of despair, she yelled for help in her heart; who could save her, what on earth she would do!

The door was so cold and hard; unable to push him away, she was about to lose in the wrestling while a faint voice sounded from the the bed --

"Water...I need water..."

Gwen Wen's eyes lit up and she shouted at the top of her voice: "Somebody, Hugh Lu has woken up!"

The man's movements come to an abrupt halt; he glanced back at Hugh Lu fiercely, then back at Gwen Wen with a gleam in his eye that could have killed Gwen Wen.

The sound of rapid footsteps got louder outside the corridor; the man took a bite on her shoulder mercilessly before he releasing her and turning around, pulling back the curtain, and jumping out of the balcony into the moonlight.

Gwen Wen felt the bite wound was bleeding, but she could not care less at the moment; she thew on some clothes from the floor and collected the mess speedily, and Lu family were already at the door, banging hastily and impatiently.

When Gwen Wen opened the door, the crowd rushed in and close in toward the bed; the lights were all turned on, and everyone wept out of joy when they saw that Hugh Lu had indeed opened his eyes.

"Thank god! The young master finally woke up!"

“My Hugh, you have finally woken up," said Nancy Ye, wiping her eyes. " You have been worrying me to death these years."

The Master had brought a doctor with him and gave Hugh Lu a simple examination. After being confirmed that everything was normal and informed of a follow-up examination tomorrow, everyone felt a bit relieved.

Master Lu went up to Gwen Wen and nodded. "Your contributions were undeniable."

Gwen Wen ducked her head, afraid that any traces of emotions and thoughts on her face might be detected: "I don't dare to claim the credits for myself. Everyone here had made a contribution."

Master Lu turned around to the other and gave his order in a low voice: "Hugh just woke up, let’s leave him rest; we will talk about the other things tomorrow."

At the word of command, all the Lu family members exited the room. The Master patted Hugh Lu on the hand and said joyfully, "Hugh, this is your wife. She has been taking care of you for the past month. She will be accompanying you tonight.”
Then he left contentedly.

Only Gwen Wen and Hugh Lu, who had just woken up, were left in the room.

Hugh Lu stared straight at Gwen Wen with his drowsy look while Gwen fed him with a bowl of water.

Hugh Lu's indifference kept Gwen Wen from speaking; with the water, the man's voice became a little clearer: "Get out of here."

“What?”

"I don't like being in the same room with a strange woman. Get out and sleep on the doorstep."

Gwen Wen gritted her teeth." I'm your wife, we have a legitimate relationship, and there's nothing wrong with me being with you!"

"Get out before I call everyone back in and tell them about your affair behind my back."
Hugh Lu's eye fell on her shoulder: "There are still marks of the shame left!"

The briefly-ignorant tooth mark on Gwen Wen's shoulder started burning her skin like a soldering iron under her clothes; she grasped it firmly.

Mark of shame! What else could she do to defend herself against such undisguised debunking!

She carried a quilt, went out of the door to make a bunk and laid herself down to sleep.

There was no good person in the Lu Family as she expected.

Hugh Lu, once a sleeping handsome she could rely on, woke up a demon.

She suddenly felt so powerless and so humble as if she was threw onto the ground heavily and everyone wanted to stamp on her.

The next day, after Hugh Lu returned from the examination, he went directly into the study with Master Lu.

"You want a divorce?"

"You want a divorce?" Master Lu nodded thoughtfully at his request," She hit you with her car and served her time in prison. You have every reason to hate her, but I don’t approve of your divorce now.”

“ Why?” Hugh Lu was puzzled and unhappy, "that woman could be an curse in the end."

"That being said, you had been in a coma these three years; with so many doctors and experts trying to cure you, they all came in vain, but the second month she came and attended you, you wake up; her presence here in our family may favour your life; not matter how sick you are of her, you have to put up with it.”

After the accident and recovery of Hugh Lu, Master Lu became even superstitious, and as long as it kept his family safe, nothing else mattered.

"I know you still miss her, Jenny Mu, but you had a car accident because of her; her eight characters of a horoscope have not been compatible with yours; stop mentioning her name here.

Hugh Lu's eyes dimmed at the name of Jenny Mu.

" Grandpa, that's superstition, you shouldn't..."

Hugh Lu, of course, did not buy the Master’s superstitious words; but seeing Master Lu’s newly-grown grey hair and wrinkles over these years, he swallowed his argument.

"I see."
Hugh Lu lowered his head obediently. The old man in front of him was even older than Hugh remembered him to be three years ago; his days while Hugh was in a coma must have been grueling.

Since he firmly disapproved of the divorce, he decided to leave it at that for now.
